A Rare Find—a fully-equipped ’73 Mustang Cobra Jet Convertible
The “Q Code” Cobra Jets are always the most sought-after Mustangs, and the 1973 4-speed convertible we have for
sale is one of those rare cars. This fully-restored Mustang is equipped as follows:
· A true “Q code” car with a “Q” in VIN
· Marti Report
· 35l Cobra Jet engine with functional Ram Air
· 4-speed Hurst top-loader transmission
· Traction-Lok differential
· Competition suspension
· Air conditioning (that blows cold)
· Front disc brakes
· Tilt wheel
· Power: windows, steering, brakes, antenna
Great Looking
· Paint and Chrome
Resprayed in Medium Copper Metallic, this car’s finish looks like new as one would expect for a car that
underwent a full restoration.
The chrome is extremely nice as is the stainless trim.
The black convertible top looks as new and the power top mechanism works flawlessly.
· Interior
The Ginger Knitted vinyl interior upholstery was all redone and looks like new. The door panels are excellent as
is the carpeting. The dash and instruments are in excellent cosmetic condition and the instrument package includes
a tachometer.
· Engine
This 351 Cobra Jet engine was rebuilt during the car’s restoration, adding a mild cam to increase performance.
During restoration, a factory-original Ram Air System was incorporated. As mentioned, the car is a “Q-code”
car as verified by the VIN plate.
· Transmission
The four-speed fully synchromesh transmission operates correctly and makes this car a pleasure to drive. It is a
Hurst top-loader transmission that is smooth as silk. The Traction-Lok differential insures that the engine’s
power makes it to the pavement.
· Chassis
The underside of this Mustang is remarkably clean for a driver, suggesting that it has seen little bad weather. It
appears to be free of any visible rust or corrosion other than surface rust and a small hole in front of the left
rear tire.
· Safety and Comfort features
The car has front disc brakes, a front anti-sway bar and competition suspension, all of which contribute to the
Mustang’s stability. Seat belts provide for additional passenger safety.
All of the safety and accessory features work—lights, turn signals, wipers, horn, etc. except for the backup
lights and dash lights. All of the instruments are in very good cosmetic condition and work. The instrument
package also includes a tachometer and a clock—both of which work. The four 15” Magnum 500 wheels are fitted
with BF Goodrich Radial T/A 235/60R15 tires that look almost new.
The factory air conditioning works properly as do the four power windows and the power top.
There is a front spoiler and a racing-type gas filler cap on the rear.
An Extremely Nice Example of a Rare Q-code Mustang Convertible
This is a performance Mustang that has no “issues”. With a Cobra Jet engine and a Hurst 4-speed, it looks,
performs and excites like it did back in 1973 when it came to U.S. showrooms. Equipped with all the power and
comfort equipment one could wish for, it is an impressive car at the cruise-ins, car shows or just driving around
your home town.

Transit Courier completes Ford's new commercial van line, will we get it?
Sat, 13 Apr 2013This week Ford rolled out the 2014 Transit Courier, the fourth addition to its Transit range. Ford says its the first time for the nameplate in the compact van segment.
"Ford has now completely transformed its commercial vehicle line-up, with four all-new, class-leading Transits for European customers," said Barb Samardzich, vice president of product development for Ford Europe. "With the all-new Transit range, we expect sales to grow to 400,000 units per year by 2016, well over 50 percent more than we sell today."
When the Courier goes on sale in the Spring of 2014, it will offer more than 1,400 pounds of payload capacity, multiple mounting points for racks or other framework and a rear cargo area that can carry items 5.3 feet-long. An optional folding passenger seat boosts the cargo length to 8.5 feet.
Consumer Reports no longer recommends Honda Civic
Mon, Oct 24 2016Consumer Reports annual Car Reliability Survey is out, and yes, there are some big surprises. First and foremost? The venerable publication no longer recommends the Honda Civic. In fact, aside from the walking-dead CR-Z and limited-release Clarity fuel-cell car, the Civic is the only Honda to miss out on CR's prestigious nod. At the opposite end there's a surprise as well – Toyota and Lexus remain the most reliable brands on the market, but Buick cracked the top three. That's up from seventh last year, and the first time for an American brand to stand on the Consumer Reports podium. Mazda's entire lineup earned Recommended checks as well. Consumer Reports dinged the Civic for its "infuriating" touch-screen radio, lack of driver lumbar adjustability, the limited selection of cars on dealer lots fitted with Honda's popular Sensing system, and the company's decision to offer LaneWatch instead of a full-tilt blind-spot monitoring system. Its score? A lowly 58. The Civic isn't the only surprise drop from CR's Recommended ranks. The Audi A3, Ford F-150, Subaru WRX/STI, and Volkswagen Jetta, GTI, and Passat all lost the Consumer Reports' checkmark. On the flipside, a number of popular vehicles graduated to the Recommended ranks, including the BMW X5, Chevrolet Camaro, Corvette, and Cruze, Hyundai Santa Fe, Porsche Macan, and Tesla Model S. Perhaps the biggest surprise is the hilariously recall-prone Ford Escape getting a Recommended check – considering the popularity of Ford's small crossover, this is likely a coup for the brand, as it puts the Escape on a level playing field with the Recommended Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, and Nissan Rogue. While Ford is probably happy to see CR promote the Escape, the list wasn't as kind for every brand. For example, of the entire Fiat Chrysler Automobiles catalog, the ancient Chrysler 300 was the only car to score a check – there wasn't a single Dodge, Fiat, Jeep, Maserati, or Ram on the list. That hurts. FCA isn't alone at the low end, either. GMC, Jaguar Land Rover, Mini, and Mitsubishi don't have a vehicle on CR's list between them, while brands like Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Nissan, Lincoln, Infiniti, and Cadillac only have a few models each. Ford Gets The Aluminum F-150 Ready For Prime Time
Wed, Nov 12 2014Russell Barnett, a Ford dealer in Tennessee, is ready for aluminum. Ford is using the metal almost exclusively in body of the 2015 version of its best-selling F-150 pickup, which starts arriving at dealerships next month. Barnett is already answering customers' questions about the truck. And he's updated his repair shop not only for the F-150, but in anticipation that other Ford brands such as the Mustang will eventually make the switch from steel. But, just in case, he ordered some extra steel-bodied 2014 pickups. "There will be some people who won't want to change for a while," says Barnett, who says pickups make up around half of the annual sales at his dealership in rural Winchester. Ford is doubling down on aluminum, which is lighter - and more expensive - than steel but just as tough. The new truck is the company's response to customers' requests for a more fuel-efficient and nimbler pickup. Fordhopes the advantages outweigh customer doubts about the durability of aluminum or potential repair costs for the pricier metal. It's a big risk. So far this year, one out of every three vehicles Ford sold in the U.S. was an F-Series pickup. Morgan Stanley estimates F-Series trucks account for 90 percent of Ford's global automotive profit. On Tuesday, it kicked off production of the new truck at its Dearborn Truck Plant, four miles from the company's headquarters. "Yeah, this is a risk, but it's one well worth taking." said Bill Ford, the company's executive chairman, as he stood alongside the assembly line. "For our customer, this is a big, big leap forward." The trucks have been the best-selling vehicles in the U.S. for 32 straight years; last year, Ford sold nearly 100,000 more full-size pickups than General Motors. Aluminum isn't new to the auto industry, but this is the first time it will cover the entire body of such a high-volume vehicle. Ford made 647,697 F-150 pickups at its two U.S. plants last year; that's one every 49 seconds. If Ford's bet pays off, it could pad its lead in the lucrative truck market. More importantly, aluminum "future proofs" the truck - and the company - in an era of rising fuel economy standards, says Karl Brauer, a senior analyst with Kelley Blue Book. Ford will announce the truck's fuel economy figures later this month. That could determine if it steals customers away from the Silverado or Ram. Truck buyers are among the most loyal in the auto market.
