1972 - Ford Mustang on 2040-cars
Porterville, California, United States
1972 Ford Mustang Mach1. Original delivery shows it going to a southern, California dealership. To my knowledge, always a California car and in the same county. Features a 351 Cleveland motor with automatic transmission and a 4 barrel upgraded carburetor that was put in by the previous owner. Engine runs strong, I have never had an issue with it, and well-maintained for long road trips. Has approx. 113,500 original miles. I have had it for a few years and in that time I have replaced; brakes (pads, rear drum brakes, shoes, master cylinder, and more), new ignition switch, belts, hoses, Optima battery, battery cables, voltage regulator, and more. Interior dash was repainted same color (black) a few months ago. Has an aftermarket touchscreen radio that features AM/FM CD, DVD, Bluetooth, Pandora Radio, USB slot, and Auxiliary port. Also has a nice rear-view camera setup so that you can easily back up without worrying about seeing through the rear-window louvers. The backup camera also has a switch so that it can be turned on while in any gear (pretty cool!). Interior is in really nice condition other than the two panels in the rear area that are missing, as stated in the defects section. No windshield wiper setup and horn not setup. Please see photos and ask any questions. Exterior is also in very nice condition. I've tried to show every angle and be very thorough with my details, but at the same time the car is in really nice shape for being over forty years old. As mentioned, paint is about six years old (previous owner painted it) and does have a few spots that can be touched up. This is very similar to original color other than the gloss coat added, as I discovered while reviewing the paint code on the vehicle and Marti Report. Vehicle comes with the Marti Report, which shows a lot of specifics of the car and rarity (1 of only 307 built that year with these paint and trim codes). I can provide you with a copy of that prior to selling, upon request. Rear window louvers have been powder-coated to prolong the quality. Wheels and tires are in really good shape as well. The rims are original, NOT aftermarket. As stated, this car is in really great shape inside and out, and am looking for a good home for it to go to. I have done several car shows over the past several years, including winning a lot of awards.

Aussie Ford Falcon GT shows its rear end to Lamborghini Gallardo
Sun, 27 Apr 2014When Ford Australia announces, as it did recently, that it wants to celebrate the end of its Ford Performance Vehicle division with a Falcon FPV GT-F that celebrates big-bore origins of the nameplate, it's talking about the kind of car in this video.
At some point the classic Falcon GT - said to be an XY series - was invited to a test of acceleration against a Lamborghini Gallardo. At the very least, the Falcon GT had a 351 cubic-inch motor and 300 horsepower, but whatever this guy's got under the hood of his yellow sedan makes has him so confident that he doesn't even move his elbow from its resting place on the door.
You'll find a reminder of Ford Australia's heyday, a raucous exhaust note and some NSFW language in the short video below.
Ford GT40 makes historic return to racing at Goodwood
Wed, 23 Oct 2013Is there a more iconic, American racecar than the Ford GT40? That may be a discussion for another day (although by all means, tell us how wrong we are in Comments), but this video of heaps of GT40s running in the Goodwood Revival races certainly has us thinking that Ford's Ferrari-killer might just be the best racer the Land Of The Free and Home Of The Brave has ever come up with.
That's completely ignoring the fact that the GT40 was largely developed by Brits using American money, but that's besides the point (there was also a rather brash Texan, who had a big role later in development). The resulting vehicle was dominant, besting the cars of Il Commendatore from 1966 to 1969, although it should be noted that Ford's GT40 was unable to beat Ferrari in its first two Le Mans outings in 1964 and 1965.
Those four years of dominance, which started with Ford sweeping the podium, were enough to establish the GT40's legend. And now, here we are almost 50 years later, celebrating the mid-engined monsters at Goodwood, in their first ever one-make race. Take a look below for the entire video.
Hennessey Ford GT sets 267.6-MPH record at Texas Mile [w/videos]
Mon, 25 Mar 2013The record-setting Hennessey-powered camouflage Ford GT we showed you at this time last year headed back to the Texas Mile and managed to bring home yet another record. As you may recollect, last year saw Mark Heidraker's machine sprint to a record 257.7 mph thanks to propulsion from its twin-turbo 5.7-liter V8. The big mill sucks down race gas, and this year the creation pulled off a 267.6-mph run over the weekend. That feat set a new record for the event. Something tells us neither Heidraker nor Hennessey are done squeezing more thrust from this machine.
This particular Ford GT has already gone through a number of permutations. Hennessey started by tweaking the factory supercharger set up before abandoning the blower in favor of two turbos. Since then, the crew has poked and prodded it to coerce as much grunt as possible out of the car. We expect Hennessey will probably come out with a video of the record-setting run shortly, but in the meantime, you can see a couple of videos of the car's runs in Texas below (one of which actually captures the record run). Enjoy.
