This is a beautifully restored extremely rare 1970 Mustang Sportsroof with 428 CobraJet V8 and C6 Automatic transmission. It has ungone a full professional rotisserie restoration with every nut and bolt removed from the vehicle. Endless hours of high quality workmanship has gone into restoring this Mustang back to its original show room condition. It is an extremely rare vehicle as only 29 Q Code 1970 Mustang Sportroof models were produced with the 428CJ engine and automatic transmission as most were Mach 1 models. Making this even rarer is the factory air conditioning and factory AM-FM Stereo radio. It was painted the orignal color of Bright Gold Metallic which is also an uncommon color for this year. It has a black standard interior. Here is a list of the work perfomed and new parts installed on this vehicle: The entire body was stripped to bare metal and the underside was media blasted to remove everything on the bottom. The frame rails were very solid and only minimual repair work was performed to correct any deterioration from age. One side of the floor pans was replaced with new and the other was very solid. Both trunk floors are original with onlyu the drop offs needing replacement. The underside was painted red oxide primer as it would have been from the factory. New Fuel Tank with Fuel Sending Unit and all new fuel lines from the front to the back were installed. All new brake lines were installed with new power disc brake rotors, rebuilt front calipers, new master cylinder, rebuilt power disc brake booster, new flexible brake hoses, new disc brake pads, new rear wheel cylinders, new rear wheel drum brake hardware, new rear brake drums  and new rear brake shoes. New rear leaf springs with bushings and shackles, new front coil springs, new front spring perches, new front and rear sway bar struts and bushings were installed. It has the correct factory 5/8" rear sway bar and all new shock absorbers. The engine and transmission are not the originals from the car as they were missing when we purchased this years ago. The engine is a fresh .030 428PI block with forged psitons, reconditioned 428CJ cylinder heads, 428CJ cast iron 4V intake manifold, correct 428CJ Exhaust Manifolds, rebuilt correct D0ZF-9510-AB carburetor and D0ZF-12127-G Distributor. It has a fully functional show quality smog emission system along with the chrome lid Q code air cleaner assembly with snorkel, heat shield and S tube. It has beautiful 428 aluminum Cobra Jet SNAKE valve covers topping off an impressive engine compartment. It has a new brass and copper Modine original style radiator. The entire dual exhaust system was replaced with a USA made system. The transmission is a fully rebuilt C6 automatic with cast iron tailshaft housing but does not have the R servo. it has new automatic transmission fluid lines to teh radiator and an nnew torque converter. The car came from the factory with a Nodular 31 spline 3.00 ratio open differential but was upgraded to a fully rebuilt 3.25 31 spline TractionLoc Nodular centersection. The factory 31 spline axles have new bearings.  The interior is Black standard  and has a new headliner, seat covers, door panels, sail panels and lights, new Dash Pad, new underlayment and carpet set. The air conditioning and heater box was fully rebuilt with new seals and gaskets, new heater core and air conditioning evaporator. The air conditioning is fully functioning and has all new components including, evaporator, condenser, dryer, hoses, compressor, clutch and controls. The factory AM-FM stereo was professionally rebuilt and has the correct large letter MUSTANG faceplate with a new dash bezel. This car has orignal Ford quartepanels and one had been replaced early in its life with an orignal Ford unit. The doors and front fenders are original Ford units. All of the exterior chrome trim was replaced with new including taillight bezels, door handles, bumpers, side marker assemblies, hood molding, eyebrow molding,  grill molding and grille emblem. It was painted the factory Bright Gold Metallic color with two stage Chromabase base coat and Dupont ChromaClear. All of the glass is original to the cae except for the windshield which was replaced with a new one. It has the correct 14X7 Steel wheels with trim rings and NOS wheel center caps and upgraded BF GOODRICH Radail T/A tires ( we could not bring ourselves to install the factory Biased based tires) and the front end was just professionally set. Many hours of knowledgeable and devoted time has gone into this long term restoration. If you have any questions please call us at 609-448-1684 from 10am to 6pm Eastern time. Thank-you for looking.

I forgot to mention we have the actual build sheet that was attached under the front seat. It is fragile but still intact and is a great piece of original documentation for this car.

Ford and 'Dirty Jobs' pitchman Mike Rowe part ways [w/videos]

Thu, 20 Feb 2014

Former Dirty Jobs host Mike Rowe has one less job as of today - the pitchman is no longer a pitchman for Ford, with yesterday's announcement from Rowe ending a seven-year partnership between the TV host and the Blue Oval.
Rowe made the announcement to political pundit Glenn Beck, saying the two are "going in different directions" and wishing Ford "every possibly success that any car company could ever have," according to The Detroit News. Rowe and Ford got together in 2005, right around the time the 51-year-old came to prominence as the host of Dirty Jobs and the narrator for Deadliest Catch, two of the Discovery Channel's most popular shows.
Take a look below for a few video snippets of Rowe's tenure at Ford.

NHTSA investigating 500k Ford and Mercury cars for lighting failures

Mon, Apr 6 2015

The Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis might be long gone as new models in showrooms, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration might check them out yet again for a potential problem. At the urging of North Carolina Consumers Council, the agency may open another investigation into the front lighting control module on vehicles from the 2003-2005 model years, and NHTSA estimates the issue could affect 517,945 vehicles. If the module stops working, it can cause a complete failure of all forward lighting, including the headlights. NHTSA previously investigated the issue in 2008 and 2009 but found no need for a recall, according to Bloomberg. Ford also extended the warranty on the part to 15 years or 250,000 miles. To prompt this new request, the North Carolina Consumers Council received a letter from a woman experiencing the module's failure. Upon further investigation, the council found 604 complaints of this problem on NHTSA's website, including seven crashes. Furthermore, the group has alleged that dealers told customers that the parts to perform the replacement weren't available, despite the extended warranty. According to the government agency, "A defect petition has been opened to evaluate the issue and make a grant or deny decision." Ford spokesperson Kelli Felker tells Autoblog via email, "We will cooperate with NHTSA, as we always do." You can read the council's complete letter to the Feds in PDF format, here. INVESTIGATION Subject : Loss of headlamp/exterior lighting Date Investigation Opened: APR 01, 2015 Date Investigation Closed: Open NHTSA Action Number: DP15002 Component(s): EXTERIOR LIGHTING All Products Associated with this Investigation Vehicle Make Model Model Year(s) FORD CROWN VICTORIA 2003-2005 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS 2003-2005 Details Manufacturer: Ford Motor Company SUMMARY: The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received a petition from the North Carolina Consumers Council, Inc. requesting a defect investigation of an alleged defect condition resulting in headlight and/or exterior lighting failure on 2003-2005 Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis vehicles. The petition letter is attached for review. The petitioner alleges a defect in the lighting control module that powers the headlights which can result in the loss of vehicle headlights and/or all exterior lighting while driving. ODI has previously investigated this issue under PE08-066 which was closed without a defect finding.

Ford Explorer Jackson Pollock Edition results in trip to hospital

Tue, 02 Jul 2013

Among the many useful pieces of driving advice we've taken to heart over the years, "Safely secure all cargo" is etched pretty high on our personal stone tablets. We've had a couple of frustrating moments over the years (numerous wonky cupholders and too-tall lidded cups; a radar detector that released its suction cups and dashed itself below the dashboard, etc.), but never anything like the scene above.
These photos above come courtesy of the Washington State Patrol, and they show the unfortunate aftermath of a driver, his dog, and his Ford Explorer after it crashed near the town of Belfair last week. According to reports, the man was schlepping five-gallon containers of paint inside his vehicle when he was involved in an unexplained accident. It's not clear what triggered the crash, but the impromptu abstract painting covered the whole of the interior, including the driver and his faithful companion.
The man was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries, and his dog was cleaned and later taken to a humane society.
