1970 Mustang Convertible 302 Holley 4v, Auto, Ps,pt,magnums, Spoiler, Hood Scoop on 2040-cars

This 1970 Mustang convertible has been stored away for over 20 years. The registration sticker on the windshield ran out in 1993.
The last owner bought this car in 1989 just after it had been repainted and only used the car for 4 years. He bought new Magnum 500 wheels and tires in the summer of 1992 and only put 500 miles on them before he put the car away in a storage barn where the car has sat until recently. Unfortunately the barns roof gave out from the heavy snow load and rain back in February. One beam hit on the top of the drivers side quarter panel and tore the convertible top in the back. There is also a small dent in the hood next to the hood scoop. Otherwise the car fared pretty well. The car needs to be completely restored, but it is a nice car to start with. The motor runs good and sounds very strong. It has an aluminum intake with a fairly new 750 Holley carburetor and has an electric fuel pump mounted on the front frame rail. It has headers and a good dual exhaust system which comes out just under the rear valance. The Magnum 500 wheels and tires still look very good. The underside of the car will need repairs in the torque box area and the inner rockers have rusted out on the bottom. The rear frame rails look very good. The front shock towers look good, but someone did make holes in them to grease the upper control arms. The Front frame rails also look very good. The exterior needs rear quarters, convertible top material with rear window and a trunk lid. The doors, fenders, valances and hood all look savable. The door hinges will need to be replaced. I have a Kevin Marti report that shows the car was originally built with a 302-2V, Automatic, Power Steering, Power Top and a AM radio. This car was originally painted Yellow (color code D) with standard White interior and White top with a split glass rear window. 1970 was a low production year for the Mustang convertible with only 7820 being produced. 653 of them were painted this color Yellow and only 98 of them had standard white interior which makes it a fairly rare color combo. Nice original dash pad with no cracks. The front seats were recovered and still look pretty good. I have a transferable NY registration and the ID numbers match the dash tag and the body buck tag. If someone did some quick repairs they could probably drive this car for the summer and do the restoration over the next winter. I changed the oil and filter, spark plugs, thermostat gasket, master cylinder and the drivers side rear brake line. I drove the car a mile down the road and back. The motor has lots of power and the transmission has a very solid shift. The steering feels responsive and the power steering feels good. The brakes still don't feel like they should so I am going to be working on them this week to get them to where they should be. The motor starts right up and the exhaust has a great tone. The motor has had some work done to it at some point and the cam is definitely not stock. The chrome on the valve covers is shot. I checked the flat pad on the back side of the intake and found the ID number stamping which matches the cars ID number. I have given a fair and honest description of the car, but my opinions of condition may vary from someone else's. Some parts may be repairable rather than replaced, but that would depend on your ability and skills. Please look at all of the pictures carefully and ask questions if you need more information. The car can be viewed by appointment only. This car is being sold as is where is with no warranty expressed or implied. A $500.00 deposit must be received within 48 hours from end of sale or I reserve the right to sell to another bidder or re-list it. The Balance must be paid within 7 days in the form of a cashier's check, wire transfer or cash. Checks will have to clear my bank before the car will be released-NO EXCEPTIONS. The sale is final and is not open to negotiations after the sale. I can store the car for up to 30 days after the sale while transportation is arranged. |

Project Ugly Horse: Part VII
Fri, 12 Apr 2013Devils, Details and Weight Reduction
There are many things I could call this exercise. A party is not one of them.
I've spent three days crammed in the axle well of this 1989 Mustang with nothing to keep me company beyond a trouble light, a DeWalt drill on the very last of its legs and billion razor sharp, red hot slivers of metal with an affinity for my most sensitive of regions. My joints are raw from crawling around on the concrete. I'm half deaf from the shriek of the spot weld cutter and the boom of the cold chisel and hammer.
2015 Ford F-150 pricing announced, aluminum-bodied truck up just $395
Mon, 28 Jul 2014The eagerly anticipated Ford F-150 has had its 2015 pricing announced, adding only a small amount to the pickup's total cost, despite its weight-saving aluminum body. The XL and XLT entry level models only see a $395 boost over the heavier, current-generation, 2014 truck.
The XL starts at $26,615 while the XLT rings up at $31,890. The increase for Lariat is up a similarly negligible $895, to $39,880. Going up the ladder, meanwhile, the leather-intensive King Ranch sees the biggest jump of the F-150 family, with prices increasing $3,515, to $49,460. Finally, picking up the top-end Platinum trim will cost an extra $3,055, with prices starting at $52,155.
The higher prices are being blamed not only on the aluminum bodies, which trim up to 700 pounds of body fat, but on increased levels of standard equipment. While we were expecting a price hike, the fact that the 2015 F-150's volume trims - Ford spokesman Mike Levine told Reuters that the XL and XLT alone cover 70 percent of F-150 sales - have had less than a $400 increase is hugely impressive.
Shelby GT350R offers first mass-produced carbon fiber wheels
Fri, Jul 10 2015In the world of race engineering, reducing total weight is good, but reducing unsprung weight is flippin' fantastic. That's the reason Ford is pushing the envelope in terms of technology for the Shelby GT350R's wheels. Joining the likes of Koenigsegg in the offering, Ford has teamed with Australian outfit Carbon Revolution to produce the CF rollers en masse for the first time. Destined for the hubs of the new Shelby GT350R, the new hoops weigh just 18 pounds each, versus the 33-lbs weight of a similar aluminum wheel. On top of slashing up to 60 pounds in unsprung weight, there's such a reduction in rotational inertia – 40 percent, versus aluminum wheels – that Ford actually has to recalibrate the magnetic ride control system and springs. Thanks to, we're guessing, scenes of crashed Formula One cars disintegrating and spewing shards of carbon fiber all over the track, Ford seems quite keen to do away with the idea that CF is strong, but brittle. The company conducted extensive shock testing, ramming a wheel into a curb at speed. According to the Blue Oval, the lightweight wheel allowed the suspension to respond so quickly that the impact was "greatly diminished," causing the tester to run the experiment again, thinking there'd been a mistake. After recording brake rotor temperatures of 900 degrees Celsius (over 1,650 degrees Fahrenheit, or well past the point that aluminum or magnesium would melt) during testing, Ford and Carbon Revolution actually redesigned the wheels to "a thermal standard more suitable for motorsports," by adding an "incredibly thin, nearly diamond-hard coating that reliably shields the resin from heat." The same process was used to protect engine turbine blades on the Space Shuttle. While the work by Ford and Carbon Revolution should make GT350R customers excited, the work being done here could have serious implications for performance cars in the future. That's the real takeaway here, and is something that should leave fans of all performance vehicles excited.
