1970 Mustang Fastback Original/Stock 302 / C4 Transmission Power Steering/Power Brakes - Original Grabber Green Odometer: 74,600 This Mustang rolled off the assembly line at the San Jose California assembly Plant October 24, 1969 - specifically for the California market. It made its Way to the Midwest at some point (currently Michigan) and was in storage until about 1 year ago when I restored this Mustang to its current condition. I personally restored this Mustang to be a hassle free, very cool looking, reliable classic ride for myself. However, I recently purchased another vintage Mustang and have decided to sell this one. The person who buys this Mustang is getting a very nice car for the money. This Mustang is very clean inside and out. The body and body lines are nice and straight, and the paint job looks great. The undercarriage is nicely painted - the frame rails, floor pans and torque boxes are rock solid, and more-than-enough parts have been replaced during the restoration to ensure the vehicle is mechanically reliable as well. This is a Beautiful, turn-key, drive and go Mustang - an original classic without the hassles inherent with owning an "old car" as most all wearable components have been replaced with new period correct parts (see the details below). This Mustang is nice driving, solid and reliable. It also turns just about every head going down the street, and gains many compliments along the way. I have listed each vehicle system below by category to display the quality level of restoration this Mustang is at. You will find many of the vehicle systems have been completely restored to "new condition" using either new or re-manufactured replacement parts. It is fair to say - this Mustang is just as it would have been during the era in which it was produced - only better and way cooler ..!. I have access to a vehicle hoist at the auto repair center where all the major work was done. So lifting the vehicle to thoroughly inspect the undercarriage is not a problem. Please call me with any questions, or to set up an appointment to personally inspect the vehicle. My name is Mark ... Watch the Videos below to see and hear this Mustang driving Call 734-626-4737 **********Explanation of Individual Vehicle Systems by Category********* Engine - The engine is original/stock, and it runs great! It still has the original 2 barrel carburetor, which i had rebuilt. The engine has new valve guide seals; oil pan gasket and valve cover gaskets. It is nicely dressed up with a new Edelbrock Finned-Black air cleaner, new Scott Drake aluminum valve covers and aftermarket headers. The new headers-to-tailpipe flow master custom dual exhaust has less than 500 miles. Cooling system - Has a new radiator, new water pump, new hoses, new thermostat and new drive belts. This is just about the entire cooling system. Starting System - Has a new mini hi-torque starter for clearance around headers and a new solenoid. Fuel System- The fuel tank, fuel pump and sending unit were new when i bought the car - replaced by the previous owner. I added new fuel lines and a fuel filter. This is the entire fuel system. Transmission - Professionally rebuilt C-4 automatic transmission has less than 500 miles. Includes a shift-kit and new 2500 flash-stall torque converter, new transmission mount, new transmission lines, new drive shaft u-joints and new speedometer cable. I have the cars original Transmission tags. Suspension / Steering - New upper and lower control arms, coil spring seats, upper and lower ball joints, inner and outer tie rods, idler arm, Sway bar links, front strut/torsion rods and bushings, new rear KYB shocks. With the exception of the coil springs and leaf springs (which are in good working order), all suspension components are new. A wheel alignment was recently performed at Firestone. Power Steering - The steering gear box and slave cylinder were rebuilt by United Power Steering, and I purchased a remanufactured power steering assist valve from NPD. It also has a new power steering pump, new power steering pressure and return lines and a new belt to drive the system. This just about makes up the entire list of wearable components of the steering system. Brake System - Has a fresh front disc brake conversion with a new power brake booster, master cylinder, calipers, proportioning valve, front rotors, front brake pads, front wheel bearings, and brake lines throughout. The parking brake cable is disconnected as the automatic transmission keeps the vehicle stable while in park. The vehicle has new rear brake shoes, adjusters and a spring kit installed by the previous owner. The parts listed represent the entire brake system. Lighting and electrical - Every light bulb on this vehicle has been replaced including turn signals, hood scoop mounted turn signals, brake lights, front parking lights, has upgraded halogen headlights for better night time visibility. New door courtesy light switches and sail panel quarter lights, new wiring harness for the hood scoop mounted turn signals, all dash board light bulbs, turn signal diodes, headlight switch, new printed circuit board for dash gauges, horns and horn blow switch, antenna. Interior - Just about everything you see inside is new and correct for this car. New TMI deluxe comfort weave seat upholstery for the front & rear seats-professionally installed. New dash pad cover, A-pillar moldings from dash pad to roof, headliner and windlace molding, sail Panels & lights, carpet & carpet pad with an additional layer of sound deadening and rust inhibiting insulation for the floor pans and trunk area, new rear package tray insert, new (upgraded for added safety) 3 point shoulder front seat belts and matching new rear seat belts. Exterior - New Original Color Grabber Green base-clear coat paint. New front & rear bumpers, tail light trim, new headlight and hood trim. A complete restoration gasket kit was installed which includes: rear window Gasket, trunk seal gasket, door seal gaskets and quarter window gaskets. Scott Drake quarter window latch assemblies were added to spruce the trim up a bit.. Tires and Rims- Has original Ford Magnum 500 14 inch rims with new center Caps and new Cooper Cobra Radial Tires with less than 500 miles. The car originally came with plain steel wheels and the Magnum 500 rims are an upgrade.

This Or That: Fiat 500 Abarth vs. Ford Fiesta ST [w/poll]

Thu, 21 Aug 2014

They're pretty darn similar. And yet our views are oh so different.
If you guys could read the transcripts of our editors' chat room, you'd know that we're a pretty argumentative bunch. It's always good-spirited stuff (well, usually), but when we're not obsessively covering this or that, we're usually fighting about one car being better than another. We're all enthusiasts here, and our automotive tastes run the gamut from the weird and unusual to the decidedly mainstream - we all feel strongly about specific cars in a given segment. While it usually makes for good conversation, if we're passionate enough, it can turn into a tomato-throwing showdown.

Chrysler called out over lackluster Ram Runner by racer who helped develop it

Fri, 11 Apr 2014

Fans of off-roading and desert blasting might recall that Chrysler offers an aftermarket conversion that can turn a Ram 1500 into a road-legal desert racer, called the Ram Runner. The kit, sold through Mopar, includes some significant suspension upgrades, body tweaks and a brawnier cat-back exhaust for the truck's 5.7-liter V8.
Considering all of this, comparisons with the almighty Ford F-150 SVT Raptor are common. Among the off-road community, that makes these two a sort of Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang for people that prefer driving on dirt. In the Race-Dezert forum, the discussion as to which truck was better was proceeding as normal - Ram fans said their piece and Ford fans said theirs. Then, a man named Kent Kroeker offered up his two cents.
See, Kroeker is a Baja racer, and the man that helped develop the Ram Runner. Despite his association with the truck, though, he had some less than kind words for Chrysler and the Ram Runner.

GM readying aluminum-body fullsize pickups

Wed, 19 Feb 2014

Ford's extensive use of aluminum in its 2015 F-150 is a big deal. A really big deal. Big enough, in fact, that General Motors is reportedly changing its fullsize pickup strategy. According to The Wall Street Journal, The General has locked in partnerships with Alcoa Inc. and Novelis Inc. - companies that will supply aluminum for the next-generation Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks.
"Ford's introduction of the 2015 F-150 pickup truck was a game changer, and it's the first, not the last, conversion of this type," Novelis spokesperson Charles Belbin told the Journal. The switch to aluminum has allowed Ford to shave roughly 700 pounds off its fullsize truck's curb weight. And while official mileage ratings have not been announced, the weight loss should go a long way for improving efficiency, especially when combined other efficiency-minded improvements including better aerodynamics and new, turbocharged V6 engines.
Of course, aluminum-bodied cars are nothing new. But extensive use of aluminum in a major, best-selling product like the Ford F-150 is expected to kick off widespread use of this weight-saving material as availability rises and cost decreases. The WSJ reports that GM had originally explored the idea of moving to aluminum pickups back in 2008, but abandoned the idea due to cost concerns amid economic woes.
