This is a highly optioned 1969 Mustang Mach 1. Vehicle is an M code 351W FMX Auto in highly desired Black Jade paint. This vehicle is my baby and comes with a deluxe Marti Report. I have spent countless hours on this vehicle and I will try to explain everything that has been done to it. To know what was done and how, you need to know this about me...I am a true believer in a true original car. Concours you might say is how I like them. Although this car needs more to be 100% correct, I have started the process. I am very meticulous and I hope you can see that as I explain..

When I purchased this car it was a mess under the hood. The original intake and valve covers were gone along with the air cleaner assembly and a/c components. I have included a few pics so you can appreciate what it looked like when I started. The motor appeared to be original as it has the correct C9 part #. The date code appears to be D14 but I cannot read it completely. There is however another # stamped on the back of the left rear block area. This # does not match the VIN. It is a # that starts in 2 Again I have done countless hours of research to get it right. I have been told a few different things. One is that the numer should match the VIN and therefore it is a service block replacement from 1969. Another thing I was told is that since it is a San Jose car that the numer was just the series of ID numbers used on the blocks and therefore it did not need to match. Third was that this is an original 351w from 1969 but not from this car. I have included the pic of the block. If you can find out more then I did, I would like to hear about it. I will  offically state that it is a 69 351W but it is UNKNOWN if it is the ORIGINAL motor. I pulled the motor and began the process. The previous owner advised he had it rebuilt so I only took it down to the block and heads. The motor was re-assembled and painted the correct Ford Blue for the 69 351W. I then replaced the following parts with either NOS or originals I found. What I couldnt find in original, I replaced with approved FOMOCO parts.  I painted the motor compartment in the correct black paint. In 1969 is was NOT gloss so if you see one that is glossy, it is incorrect. I obtained a paint code book showing all the correct colors and have applied them to this motor and compartment. It is hard to find correct reference material for this car. I was able to use the picture of Bob Perkins 52 Mile Mach 1 in Mustang Monthly as the best reference picture I have ever seen. That pic is exactly what they are supposed to look like and mine is modeled exactly like his. Here is a list of what I replaced under the hood.

To do the A/C correctly you have to rebuild the Heater/A/C box under the dash. To do that you have to tear it all out which I did. I removed the entire dash right to the fire wall and began from scratch. I took the entire heater box apart and replaced all the gaskets, the heater core, the a/c evaporator and vacuum hoses. I then replaced the expantion valve and put the box back in the car. I put in new duct hoses, vacuum hoses and a blower motor. The car still had its original 69 dated working blower motor in it. I still have this item. I then replaced a broken vent with an original one. The dash pad appears to be original and in tact with zero cracks. Remember this is a San Jose car that spent its life in Texas. It is 95% rust free that I can see. Body details later in this ad. I removed the dash gauges and cleaned them. I then replaced the dash bezel with a new one. I re-painted the lower dash in the correct grey/black chip metallic paint. The had the Mach 1 clock professionally rebuilt with the original NOS clock works. Note  The A/C is 95% done. It still needs the condensor put in and the system charged. Parts under dash are as follows..

Blower Motor

Heater Core

A/C Evaporator

Vacuum Hoses(All)

Duct Hoses

Dash Bezel

NOS Clock Harness

Original Mint Condtion FOMOCO AM Radio

Headlight switch and handle

Washer/Wiper Switch and Handle

FOMOCO Key Cylinder and Keys

Moving on to the interior. I have only just begun this part of the car and some things are incorrect. I replaced the door switches. The rim blow steering wheel works and tilts. This car has an undocumted tilt away wheel. So it was either put in over its life time or its original. All interior parts for this appear to be there. The motor compartment items would need to be replaced.  The console is an original 69. I replaced the cigarette lighter, the storage box, the rear ash tray, the front ash tray, console lid and wood insert. Some idiot drilled a hole in the side and made it a 1970 type. I changed it back to correct 69. I have a mint FOMOCO radio that is ready to put back in. The seats and carpet were replaced at some point with the incorrect colors. All Mach 1's with black interior should have a red stripe on the seats and red inserts on the floor. This car has straight black. So if you want it to be correct you will need to re-do it at some point. The front driver seat has a rip on the outside part anyway. The headliner is complete. Im not sure its original. The car has its original seatbelts. The fold down rear seat is in great shape. The side rear panels show wear from people gettting in and out.. The woodgrain on the dash is the walnut type and as in good condition. The woodgrain door panels show a bit of peeling on the edges. The door panels also show some wear. Again I havnt done alot in the interior. The motor compartment took over 2 yrs. The sunshades are in good shape. Its unknown if these are original but they look like they are. There is a piece of window trim that is cracked. I just havnt looked or a NOS one.  Im not 100% sure but I believe the car has had the door windows replaced with 70 glass which was bolt in rather then the 69 glue in glass. Most Mach 1 owners do this. The reason I think this was done is that the Carlite glass logo on the doors doesnt match the rest of the glass font. I believe it was upgraded which is a plus. The original door tag is long gone. I have a new on that was purchased with the Marti Report. It is ready to install.

Trunk area is clean and car has its original gas tank with part # C9 present. It appears the car was hit in the rear end at some point over its 43 yrs of life as the floor shows some metal crinkling. The inside has no rust and has its original noise deadning material along with the wheel well covers for the inside.

Exterior is nice but the paint is not perfect. From 10-15 ft away it looks like a show car with that cool Black jade paint but up close you can see flaws and nicks in the paint. The black out hood appears to be the correct pattern and the original faded 351 emblems are on the hood scoup. The doors are just starting to bubble on the bottom indicating a bit of rust. There is a little rust at the bottom of the inner quarter panels where the tire throws dirt and water. Its minor but there. Other then that this car is in amazing shape and rust free. The floors are original and are solid The fenders and quarters are solid along with the rocker panels. The front valance is a factory replacement that carries its C9 part #. The bumpers are nice and all the light work correctly including the hood scoop turn signals. The car has original 69 Magnum 500's with mustang caps. These were put on after it was bought. The original chrome wheels are long gone. It has BF Goodrich radials with alot of tread life left. The rear spoiler is a dealer install as they didnt come from the factory. I also have a front lower valance spoiler that I took off. It comes with the car. The grill is nice and has its original pony intact. The cowl cover has a paint flaw in it as seen in the pic of the cowl. Dont know what happened there or how someone could leave it looking that way but who knows. The pop off gas cap is awsome and the truck lid looks good. The car has black Mach 1 stripes on it. I think the Black Jade cars came with yellow and white stripes but the black may have been an option. The side scoups are intact and correct. All exterior chrome is nice with some scratches. Again it looks original. There is a dent in the radiator frame which indicates it was hit in the front at one point in its life. thus why the valance is a FOMOCO replacement. Im sure the front end will need to be aligned correctly.

Brakes and Undercarriage   The car is optioned with power front disk brakes. The brakes are all good. I replaced the brake control valve, power brake booster, the power piston, all hoses, the control valve and master cylinder. When I did that I put all new Silicone brake fluid in the car which if you didnt know reduces moisture for cars that sit alot. The floors and frame rails/rockers are solid. I just put a full dual exhaust on the car from FlowMaster.( I wasnt going to put that one muffler/dual exit system on) It sounds great and tuff...  I still need to add the correct exhaust end tips to complete the job. Car needs new shocks and some front suspension work. Nothing major. Just worn parts. The brake lines all look good. Drums and rotors along with pads and hardware are all good.

Transmission/Rear  It has an FMX that was reported to be rebuilt months before I got the car.  It shifts fine however lately it needs to be warmed up before it will drop into any gear. Im thinking a vacuum problem so im looking into that. Im not sure what rear ratio it currently has.

Overall....  This car is a rare find and I hate to part but I need $$ for other things. It kills me not to complete this car. It is a highly optioned Mach 1. Its a popular hard to get color. It has AC and power options. This is a great car to have and will always be worth its weight in gold in my eyes. I have done alot or research and hard work to get it back to looking factory. It can be a daily driver if thats what you want. It runs and drivers great. Motor is strong and it gets alot of looks when I have it out. Eventhough technology has long passed these cars they are a classic piece of history. To own one is a true honor. Mileage show 33k but im sure its 133k.

Please ask anything you have in mind. Im sure I will be updating this ad as im sure I forgot something....  This car comes as is with no warranty implied or written. The listing can also be ended early as it is for sale locally. I will not ship. You can set that up as I did when I got it. I would be happy to await the driver to take it to its new home. MORE PICS UPON REQUEST.  If your an overseas bidder you need to contact me first before bidding or I will cancel your bid. .Serious bidders only...  OBO

Thanks for looking and happy bidding

2014 Ford Fiesta ST

Tue, 15 Oct 2013

I'm not overly inclined to professional jealousy, as a rule. Sure, I go a bit green around the eyes when Ramsey draws the 911 GT3 trip to Weissach, Harley is tapped-in to drive a completely stunning Porsche 911 by Singer, or, you know, Drew Phillips gets to shoot a Lamborghini Veneno in the middle of a desert like some sort of sheik. I hate you guys...
Honestly though, one of the new car events that dug me the most, was when our Steven J. Ewing got to fling the Ford Fiesta ST around some hot corner of Europe. What goes around comes around, I suppose, as Mr. Ewing himself espoused an envious nature of the Focus ST trip that came before.
The good news in all this covetous intra-office behavior? All the cars mentioned, and specifically the Fiesta ST, are just wonderful to drive. I can say that with more confidence than ever now, having joined Ford for a good bit of Fiesta-flinging myself. In my case, the locale was slightly more pedestrian (Michigan not Portugal), and the car in question was the five-door version of the Fiesta ST that we get here in The States, as opposed to the three-door number they get across the pond.

Ford Ka Concept shown in Brazil, could enter production by 2014

Wed, 13 Nov 2013

The Ford Ka (pronounce it like a Bostonian saying "car") is the Blue Oval's sub-Fiesta offering in a number of markets that aren't North America. It's been a staple in Europe since it launched in 1996 and in South America since 1997, where it's enjoyed quite a bit of popularity as an affordable, efficient city car.
The European and South American models grew apart over the years, until Europe ended up with a Fiesta-inspired car and Brazil retained a more evolved version of the original Ka's styling. With this Ka Concept, which is really a concept in name only, Ford is previewing a Ka not just for the European market, but as the brand's new, global small car. With city car sales expected to grow dramatically in coming years and the ever increasing price of fuel, Ford's move to get a new, competitive car into the market on a global level isn't surprising.
Wearing Ford's new, familial grille, the Ka Concept features the same crisp, sculpted sheetmetal that's adorned the Fusion and Fiesta. Developed in-house by Ford Brazil, a production version could launch by 2014, according to Ford's press release. It's unclear what engines will sit under this car's hood, although we'd bet the 1.0-liter, EcoBoost three-cylinder from the Fiesta will be available at some point.

Ford Focus EV's slow sales trigger massive incentives

Fri, 25 Jan 2013

The Detroit News reports Ford is having real trouble moving its new Focus Electric. As a result, the automaker is offering substantial incentives in an attempt to lure in more buyers. How substantial? Try $10,750 off of a three-year lease. What's more, the EV can now be had for $37,995 ($2,000 less than its original base price) on top of an additional $2,000 cash discount to buy the EV outright - or you can opt for 1.9-percent financing if you work through Ford Motor Credit. None of which factors in various potential government incentives. Last year, Ford managed to sell a paltry 685 of the 1,627 Focus EV hatchbacks it built.
Ford isn't alone in trying to woo more buyers to its EV effort. Nissan cut the price of its Leaf by a whopping 18 percent for 2013, now down to $28,800 and built in the USA. The move followed the automaker's substantial incentives in 2012.
If you want a Focus Electric, you can now apparently get your hands on one for as little as $285 per month with $930 due at signing for a 36-month lease with 10,500 miles per year.
