This is a heavily and expensively customized 1969 Ford Mustang Pro-Touring type car, not quite completed.  We are selling this vehicle on behalf of the owner who had it commissioned to be built. The builder's shop was closed down before the car was completed.  We do not know all the details of the car but will do our best to describe it here.  The car needs to be completed before it is driveable, though it does run and drive. The transmission needs to be programmed, the electrical system needs work, the suspension needs adjustments, etc.

The car started life as a rust and accident free Southern California 1969 Mustang fastback.  The body was modified as can be seen in the pictures - the door handles were shaved, the front tub was modified to make
room for the huge Jack Roush supercharged Ford engine (new crate engine) with custom made headers.  The rear air scoops were eliminated. A custom hood was fabricated with metal vents. A custom rear panel was fabricated with special valence and cast metal exhaust tips.  The bodywork on the car is very nice, the body is straight and the paint is very nice.  The glass was installed flush with no trim around them, the rain gutters were eliminated.  The car has the new Roush 550 hp supercharged engine, a new electronic automatic transmission, alloy driveshaft, custom independent rear suspension with coil overs, custom tubular control arm front suspension with coil over shocks and power rack and pinion steering. The brakes are all top of the line Wilwood.  The exhaust system is a custom built stainless steel type, very nice.  The exhaust exits through custom made metal vents fitted into the rear valence.  The fuel tank is an alloy fuel cell, custom made.  The car has 2 video screens, navigation, etc.  Rear fold down seats.  Recaro front seats with 3-point seat belts.
Custom dash and console, needing minor fitting and finishing.  All components used in this car are new, mostly top of the line high end parts.  The components of the car cost more than what we are looking to get out of it.  The owner has over $ 160,000 invested in this car.  Perfect project for someone who can and wants to finish a very nice car without having to start from scratch, with huge savings.
Possible trades considered for VERY nice finished cars or rare / exotic projects.
Local inspection is not only welcomed, it is strongly encouraged.  In order to arrange a personal inspection, or if you have any questions about the car, please call me at (909) 910-9959.  The car is located in the Los Angeles area.  Both domestic and international shipping assistance is available.  Clear title.   The car is subject to prior sale at any time.

Woman trades 1914 Model T in for 2013 Corvette

Wed, 17 Apr 2013

We're sure that dealers must see all sorts of interesting trade ins, but this one may take the cake. Red River Chevrolet in Bossier City, Louisiana, recently had a customer come in with an odd request. Tina Boyter wanted to trade in three vehicles on a brand-new 2013 Chevy Corvette. Among the hardware was 1980 Corvette, a 1978 Cadillac Eldorado and a 1914 Ford Model T. While the '80 Corvette had been her personal car for years, the '78 Eldorado had belonged to Boyter's mother before she traded up to a Lincoln. The big Caddy had just 10,290 miles on the clock when it was traded in.
And the Model T? Boyter says the car was built as a racer by Ford, and that it had been a show winner for years when it belonged to her father. But, after spending the last 16 years in a museum with its fluids drained, Boyter decided it was time to shed some of the past. She walked into the dealer, laid eyes on a white 2LT Corvette with a red interior and offered to trade all three of the vehicles in on the sports car.
Why not wait for the C7? "I fell in love with that one when I walked in the door," She said. We can't fault her there.

XCAR stages epic drag race between Ford GT40, GT70 and GT

Mon, 19 Aug 2013

XCAR has put together what it believes is a first - a drag race between Ford's legendary, Le Mans-winning GT40, the more recent GT supercar it inspired and the little-known GT70 rally car. The three mid-engined monsters were all built for very different purposes, and not surprisingly, they come to battle with very different powertrains.
The GT40 is powered by a thumping, naturally aspirated V8. This example, which looks like a Mark IV model, is likely powered by a 7.0-liter engine, although it's not entirely clear how much power it's putting down. The GT70, meanwhile, was Ford's response to the Lancia Stratos. Considering that the Lancia is one of the greatest rally cars in history and many of you are probably just hearing of the GT70 for the first time, you can imagine how much success Ford had with it. Only six were produced before a change in regulations doomed this mid-engined rally car.
The Ford GT, meanwhile, doesn't really need an introduction. 550 horsepower is on offer from a 5.4-liter, supercharged V8, which keeps the GT competitive even against more modern supercars. 60 miles per hour arrives in well under four seconds while the top speed sits at 212 mph. Not bad for a car that went out of production in 2006.

How the Ford Shelby Mustang came to be

Fri, 20 Sep 2013

Even as rumors swirl that the next-generation of high-performance Ford Mustang will drop the Shelby name, Ford has released a short video telling how the legend of the Shelby Mustang came to be. In its latest installment of its video series entitled Mustang Countdown, Ford dug up some footage from Carroll Shelby to give a little insight into how this automotive icon was created.
While it's definitely interesting to hear the late legend tell the story in his own words (including numerous references to the 1964 Mustang as a "secretary's car"), it's also pretty funny learning exactly how the Shelby GT350 got its name in the first place - a name allegedly making a comeback as the replacement for the current Shelby GT500. As development work continues on the 2015 Ford Mustang, the Shelby video posted below shows that the automaker is always looking at its past - even as it looks ahead to the future.
