1969 Ford Mustang Convertible V8 Disc Brake on 2040-cars
Jonesboro, Louisiana, United States
Vehicle Title:Clear
Make: Ford
Drive Type: Rear
Model: Mustang
Mileage: 100,000
Trim: convertible
Up for bids is this original 1969 ford mustang convertible. It is in need of a full restoration but is very buildable. It would be a good candidate for a shelby clone or just a good original convertible. It has seen better days but is still very buildable. It has its good points and bad points. It has a clear title. The car has factory disc brakes. It looks to be the original color still with the original interior. I will start with the good and end with the bad. I will start with the body. The body panels are all pretty much repairable. The rear quarters will need a little body work but are not rusted out and are repairable. The doors could be fixed. The passenger door has some rust on the bottom side of it. The fenders are okay. The hood is okay. I have the headlight buckets and they are okay. The top frame is okay. The windshield and trim arouond it are okay. It will need a new taillight panel. I have the grille and the front pieces. The trunk lid is okay. The rear frame rails are okay. The outer rockers are okay. The drivers frame rails are all good. What it needs. The floors have already been cut out and need replacing which is normal in a convertible. The inner rockers have some rust in them. They are not completely gone. The passenger one is worse than the drivers. They could be patched and used but that will be up to the buyer. The passenger torque box is crusty. The front rail under the battery box has a little place that will need some work. The trunk also has some places around where the gas tank goes on the passenger side. I took pics of everything. They are all easy fixes if you know how to weld. This car is still structurly sound. It does not sag like some convertibles do. It is still very buildable. The dash and all that stuff is still in it. I have the keys to it. The motor and transmission is still in it but I am sure it will need rebuilding. It has the style steel wheels on it. I have all the seats to it. The only other bad thing about it is the door glass and quarter glass are missing. The windshield is good but the door and quarter glasses are gone. I have a clear title to it. This is a project car as advertised but it very buildable. It rolls ans steers fine. It is easy to load on a trailer. If you have any other questions or need more info just let me know. I can store it as long as needed but will require full payment within seven days of the end of auction. I will accept cash in person, bank wire transfer, or certified bank check as payment. The car will have to be picked up in Jonesboro Louisiana. Please ask all questions before bidding if you need to know something or are not sure of something.

Lincoln Continental production likely to shift to Flat Rock
Fri, Jun 12 2015Lincoln production may be returning to Michigan, according to a new report from Automotive News. While the brand's current big sedan, the MKS, is built alongside the Ford Taurus, Ford Explorer, and their Police Interceptor counterparts at the Blue Oval's Chicago, IL factory, the production version of the Continental won't be screwed together in the Windy City. According to AN, "industry sources" claim the Continental will join the Ford Mustang and Ford Fusion – on which the big Lincoln is loosely based – at the company's Flat Rock, MI factory. The move isn't just based on convenience, though. Ford is selling a lot of Explorers, and shifting Lincoln production away from Chicago Assembly frees up production capacity for the popular SUV. "Chicago Assembly Plant is vital to our global manufacturing footprint and will continue to manufacture the Ford Taurus, Ford Explorer and Police Interceptor vehicles even after we phase out production of the MKS in 2016," Ford told Automotive News. "We will continue to match production to demand." Looking at the numbers further backs up the argument against Lincoln production in Chicago. Last year alone, Ford built nearly 285,000 Explorers and over 73,000 Taurus sedans, compared to just 8,300 Lincolns. Finally, as AN tells it, Ford is almost telegraphing the Continental's arrival in Flat Rock. The facility has a four-week shut down scheduled from June 15 through July 13, which is twice as long as the typical summer vacation, while there's another two weeks off slated for September. Ford worker files for UAW dues refund, stirs right-to-work debate
Sun, 24 Aug 2014Let's start with some history: Ford's Dearborn truck plant, part of the company's massive River Rouge complex, was the center of a strike in 1941 that led to Ford signing the first "closed shop" agreement in the industry. The agreement obliged every worker at the plant to be a dues-paying member of the United Auto Workers. In December 2012, however, Michigan Governor Rick Snyder signed legislation making Michigan a right-to-work state, which outlawed closed shops. The new law gave workers the right to opt out of union membership and stop paying dues even if they were still covered by union activities like collective bargaining. For employees at the Dearborn plant, the right-to-work clauses take effect at the end of their current contract in 2015.
As a tool-and-die maker at Ford's Dearborn plant for 16 years, Todd Lemire pays dues to the UAW - about two hours' salary per month. However, he's been unhappy with the UAW's support of the Democratic party, and not wanting to wait until next year to be out of the UAW entirely he invoked his Beck Rights, which state that a non-member of a union does not have to pay dues to support non-core activities, such as political spending. But Lemire wasn't happy that Ford still subtracted the total amount of dues, with the UAW reimbursing the difference, so he filed suit with the National Labor Relations Board, feeling that the workaround violates his rights.
Lemire's case is just a week old, so it could be a while before a resolution. Yet, as September 15, 2015 draws near and the right-to-work laws take full effect for Michigan workers - and others wonder whether it could help revitalize the state's manufacturing base - a case like this adds more fuel to the discussion.
V6 engines will outpace V8s for the 2015 Ford F-150
Wed, 23 Jul 2014How times have changed. Even five years ago, who would have thought the mighty V8 would be just another engine choice for buyers of the 2015 Ford F-150?
Ford is projecting about 28 percent of the next-generation trucks will have the 5.0-liter V8. That's nothing to sneeze at, but consider this: Ford figures its two EcoBoost truck engines - the new 2.7-liter V6 and the existing 3.5-liter V6 - will also each account for about 28 percent of the F-150's sales (56 percent total). That leaves only 15 percent of the pie for the 3.5-liter (non-EcoBoost) V6. The new F-150 goes on sale late this year.
