1968 ford mustang coupe base model. No air conditioning. Front wheel disc brakes. 289 motor.

Has been parked, and not started since 1987. It is a non running car. Motor does turn over.
Would love to restore the car myself. But time, money, and a little bit more work than I am capable of. So have decided to sell the car. Donating proceeds to "love without boundaries" and "Holt international".

Will try to cover everything I know about the car from the past 4 months:
Has been sitting since 1987.
Car is very original, and a very restorable project. Has original paint on car- except drivers rear quarter panel area. Can see it in picture.
Overall undercarriage very intact. All surface rust, except a seam at drivers side floor panel. Did not show up too well in pictures.
Rust on body. Pictures should give you an idea of what is there.  Looks like all major body work is back part of car.
If have an area you need a better picture, let me know. What you see is what you get.
Have original keys, owners manual, and a few misc receipts, a a lot of history told to me of car from my neighbor. Download photo 2.JPG (880.1 KB)Download photo 3.JPG (531.3 KB)Download photo 2.JPG (602.9 KB)

Note: adding pictures shortly- iPad giving me problems...

Interior is in excellent shape, with a little cracking on side of drivers seat.
Shoulder belt straps were cut out of the car at some point. Small cut in headliner.
Fading, aging on plastic chrome trim around gauges.
Trunk lid is rusted on inner lip and needs to be replaced.
Both front and rear bumpers  are damaged, and need to be replaced.Download photo 3.JPG (858.8 KB)Download photo 1.JPG (870.7 KB)Download photo 3.JPG (848.4 KB)
The back of car hit hard enough to damage drivers side quarter panel by taillight.
Also hit hard enough from back to push gas filler/taillight panel in about an inch. Can see when looking from side view.
All tires are bad. Do hold are for transporting.
Fuel tank probably shot. Gas looks like watered down pancake syrup.
Needs battery, and battery tray( rusted)
No spark at spark plugs when Turning motor over.Download photo 3.JPG (615.1 KB)Download photo 1.JPG (587.2 KB)Download photo 2.JPG (618.3 KB)

Car is for sale locally. Have right to end auction early.

Next Ford Raptor spotted wearing aluminum skin

Wed, 07 May 2014

Well, look at what we have here. Judging from these spy shots, Ford is indeed working on the next generation of its off-road-ready F-150 Raptor pickup truck. We've made no attempt to hide our appreciation for the Baja-style truck, which combines most of the usability of a fullsize truck with heavy-duty suspension components to make a kind of performance vehicle that is unique in the market.
What we haven't known, until now, is whether Ford would push forward with its Raptor program now that it has a completely new F-150 to serve as its base. And that's especially true since Ford made the bold move of switching the bodywork of its best-seller from tried-and-true steel to aluminum. As you can see above, the front and rear of this silver truck are clad in current-gen Raptor bodywork, while the center section that houses the occupants appears to come from the upcoming 2015 F-150.
Dissecting the views above, we note a few interesting tidbits. First, there looks to be a bulge in the truck's hood. Second, we see a new grille between the current Raptor's headlights, sporting a mesh finish and two horizontal bars. Lastly, our eyes can't help but lock in on those burly A-arm suspension pieces down below, not to mention all that ground clearance the specialty suspenders bring to the table.

Check out Ford's fully automated self-parking car [w/video]

Wed, 09 Oct 2013

As automakers continue to find uses for autonomous and semi-autonomous vehicle technology, Ford of Europe has announced that it is developing a self-parking system for future use. More advanced than the Active Park Assist already offered in many Ford products, the new Fully Assisted Parking Aid can take full control of the vehicle and can navigate angled and perpendicular parking spots.
While today's Active Park Assist can only parallel park with the driver controlling the gas, brake and gear selection, Fully Assisted Parking Aid can operate steering, gas, brake and gear selection all while making sure the car is properly parked in the intended space. As with APA, the driver pushes a button to make the car look for a proper spot (at speeds of up to 18 miles per hour), and when an adequate space is located, the operator pushes another button (either inside the car or outside via remote control) for the car to park itself - the button must be pressed throughout the whole parking maneuver. Even though Ford says that the car can effect gear selections on its own, the system must still start from Neutral, and the automaker isn't saying whether the car can put itself into Park when done or put itself in Drive when the operator is ready to go.
Ford is also taking the opportunity to announce its new Obstacle Avoidance technology. This automated system is able to detect objects - including pedestrians - in the road, warn drivers of said objects and, if needed, stop and steer automatically to avoid hitting the obstacle. Both systems are still in the prototype phase, so there is no word as to when we could see either on a production vehicle.

Bill Ford says carsharing helps Ford, EVs need to be clean

Mon, Sep 8 2014

To most people, Bill Ford is most famous for being the great-grandson of Henry Ford. But, as the executive chairman of Ford Motor Company, Ford has also been leading the company into greener and greener territory. At the morning plenary session for the 21st World Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) in Detroit today, Ford discussed a wide variety of topics, including connected cars (of course), plug-in vehicle and how Ford's collaboration with Zipcar came about because of he liked what the Zipcar CEO was excited about getting cars off the road. Given that the conference has a big focus on communication between cars this year, it's no surprise that Ford talked about his company's work on that front. He's looking at the long term, though, and says that despite announcements like the one General Motors made yesterday about Super Cruise, when fully autonomous vehicles get here, it won't be headline news since the ground work is being laid by technologies coming to cars in bits and pieces now. In other words, your adaptive cruise control is getting ready for bigger and better things. "My fear is that we electrify the fleet and our impact is not what it could be." – Bill Ford On the zero-emission vehicle front, Ford said that while he's in favor of electric vehicles, "My fear is that we electrify the fleet and our impact is not what it could be." He was discussing the emissions reality of coal-powered electricity, and said that, "We've got to have a national discussion about what we want our grid to look like." As for the work that Ford is doing with Zipcar (which is just one of the many automaker carsharing operations out there today), Ford said that he first approached Zipcar CEO Scott Griffith after hearing Griffith talk at a green conference four or five years ago. Griffith was surprised, Ford said, because he had just given a talk about ways to reduce car ownership. "Did you hear my speech? I talked about taking cars off the road," Ford remembers Griffith saying. "Yeah, and what's going to happen without us," Ford responded. Today, the partnership allows Ford to get cars to people that have traditionally been "hard to reach," like college students on campuses. Ford's vehicles are currently available on 250 colleges campuses. Ford then spoke favorably about other challenges to the traditional car ownership model, like Lyft and Relay Rides. "Rather than being frightened by that, we need embrace it and help makes their companies better," he said.
