1967 Ford Mustang Convertible W/ Oem Shelby California Special Rear Solid Car! on 2040-cars
Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, United States
You are bidding on a very solid, original-unrestored 1967 Mustang convertible with some very desirable additional parts to create a unique Shelby or California Special tribute car! This Mustang was last licensed and driven in 1978 and sat outdoors until 1982 at which time the carpet was removed and it went into dry-indoor storage, where it's been for the past 32 years. It is still in it's original factory finish, meaning it's not full of bondo. This car is not a rust-bucket, it is very solid for an original-unrestored car! The rust that is in the car is from carpet and dirt moisture. Here's where there is notable rust to address: The outer-most edge of the driver's floorboard where it meets the inner-rocker; One small spot in the right-rear floorboard near the base of the driveshaft hump (both from carpet moisture); The very bottom rear inner-quarter panel on the passenger side; The front inner-fender top rail where the shock tower overlaps the sheet metal (two quarter-sized spots on each inner-fender). Here's the really good news about rust: The unibody frame is completely solid from front to back, including the torque boxes; The hood is completely straight and solid inside and out; The front fenders are completely solid; The outer-rockers are completely solid; The outer quarters are straight and solid; As you can plainly see in the photos, the great majority of the floorboards are solid. As you can also see in the photos, the inside trunk area and inner-wheel wells are completely solid. The front & side factory-original tinted glass is all completely flawless, as is all the stainless trim. The Mustang comes with a clean Minnesota title. The car was originally a 6-cylinder automatic car as you can see by the VIN code. there is no motor included. The original transmission & torque converter are still in the car, along with the starter, alternator and the original tire jack & handle are in the trunk. I do have several other parts that will go with the car such as: a good 9" rear axle assembly, rear-shock mounts, attaching hardware, heavy front-sway bar, V8 motor mounts, a manual clutch/brake pedal assembly (all these parts came from a 1968 Cougar GT) and a flawless chrome radio outer-bezel with inner & outer control knobs. The fiberglass trunk lid, fiberglass rear quarter extensions, sequential taillight panel and quarter panel side-scoops are all originals from a 1968 California Special. They are factory Ford and are the same as used on an original Shelby. The trunk lid is excellent throughout with no cracks or flaws inside or out. The fiberglass LH rear-quarter extension has no flaws, the RH has a crack and a puncture near the bottom behind the bumper area. The LH quarter side-scoop has no flaws, the RH shows repaired damage on the inside. The fiberglass taillight panel has one very minor flaw, the top-right outermost attaching screw ear is missing the outer-corner (about half the diameter of a dime). There are no other flaws or issues and the taillight assemblies are complete and in very good condition. The chrome outer-bezels do have some light surface pitting. The light wire harness assemblies are both nice with no flaws and all six steel bulb access covers are nice with no flaws. Please, please, don't ask for a "buy it now"; I don't want cars, boats, girlfriends, or trades of any kind; Don't try and impress me with how much you know about Mustangs; I won't sell the Shelby/California Special items separately, it all goes as a package, you part it out if you need to; If you don't have the money to buy it, then don't bid! Sorry, just getting all that out of the way. Please do feel free to contact me with valid questions or concerns regarding the Mustang. I also have 40 additional picture I am willing send to serious buyers by request. Rest assured my reserve not out there in "neverland" and is very realistic for the quality of this package! NOTE: Do see my other auction for the RARE Mustang high-performance gauge cluster with the 8000 RPM tachometer to compliment this great project car! Thanks for looking and good luck! |

Ford ready to install GE Wattstations at 60 locations in North America
Thu, Mar 20 2014Upper-level Ford executives are sending mixed messages about the power of plug-in vehicles, but in the companies parking lots across North America, at least, the signal is clear: come on and charge your EV. Today, Ford and GE announced that the Blue Oval will be installing Wattstation chargers at its Dearborn HQ and will then add units at more than 60 locations across the US and Canada, including "offices, product development campuses and manufacturing facilities." If you're a Ford employee, then you get four hours of free charging a day. That should be plenty to top off any of the company's plug-in vehicles, even the Focus Electric, and the time limit encourages drivers to swap cars at lunch, because Ford wants to encourage charging station sharing and get more employees to plug in. Ford doesn't mention the DOE's Workplace Charging Challenge by name in the release (available below), but we suspect these Wattstations are part of that project. Ford was one of the founding members, joining the Workplace Charging Challenge on January 31, 2013. On that date, the Ford Motor Company and Ford dealers had over 1,750 charging stations installed on company/dealer property. Ford, GE WattStation Chargers Support Employee Electric Vehicle Charging Network Ford to install its first employee electric vehicle charging station network in Dearborn, Mich.; facilities across the United States and Canada to follow Ford will work with GE as its network provider and supplier of electric vehicle charging stations; networked stations will help Ford understand charging usage and plan for future installations Ford electrified vehicles have logged an estimated 65 million electric miles over the last 18 months. Ford now offers six electrified vehicles, including Focus Electric, C-MAX Energi and Fusion Energi plug-in hybrids, and C-MAX and Fusion hybrid vehicles Ford Motor Company in conjunction with GE, will supply vehicle charging stations at Ford facilities nationwide, beginning with facilities in and around its headquarters. The announcement continues the innovative cooperation begun more than 100 years ago between Henry Ford and Thomas Edison, co-founder of GE. This month, Ford will begin installing GE WattStation™ charging stations across its North American campuses, developing a workplace charging network at nearly every Ford facility in the United States and Canada.
Ford Mustang SVT caught looking fierce on the 'Ring
Tue, 15 Jul 2014The next-generation Ford Mustang SVT is one of the most anticipated performance cars of the moment. We've already seen it testing multiple times, but it has always been covered is some very heavy camouflage. However, Ford has just given us our best view yet of the new muscle car. According to our spy photographer, the Mustang was at the Nürburgring for high-speed testing, which meant that the Blue Oval had to remove most of the heavy obfuscation that the SVT has worn previously.
The stylish, more revealing camo makes picking out some of the more interesting details about the SVT rather easy. Starting from the front, there is the big hood scoop to feed cold air to its still mysterious engine. You can also immediately make out the model's new grille and lower front air dam. It has a vertical piece running from the bottom of the hood all the way to the ground. The aggressive styling almost gives the 'Stang the look of two fangs ready to bite down. The hood seam is even taped off here, which shows us its outline.
Around the side, it appears that the front and rear fenders are wider than stock, and the sills are certainly much larger. You can also just make out the SVT's bigger brakes behind its black wheels with a polished lip. Finally, at the rear, things appear mostly stock other than the diffuser that the exhaust outlets nestle into.
A hybrid and electric Corvette, plus we drive the Ioniq 5 | Autoblog Podcast #728
Fri, May 6 2022In this episode of the Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Road Test Editor Zac Palmer. Zac drove the electric 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Greg drove the fire-breathing 2022 Maserati Levante Trofeo. The two dive deep into the relatively heavy news week by starting off with a discussion about the upcoming hybrid Corvette before chatting about what the electric Corvette might be like. They have a chat about the possibility of Porsche and Audi officially joining the Formula 1 field. Then, Greg and Zac get into some quick-hitting news to round out the segment by dissecting the updated Kia Soul (now without a turbo), the 30th Anniversary Edition Land Rover Defender and the new CEO at Aston Martin. Following the news and drive reviews, they rope in Senior Editor, Green John Beltz Snyder to give them a quick download of what went down at the first drive for the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning. Finally, they reach into the mailbag and answer some questions from someone who is less than pleased about infotainment systems in some new cars. And lastly, the gang hears back from someone they helped out in a prior Spend My Money segment on the podcast. Send us your questions for the Mailbag and Spend My Money at: Podcast@Autoblog.com.
