1965 Ford Mustang Convertible with factory Air Conditioning, 49,525 original miles, 3rd owner, no rust ever!
State Auto Leasing bought this car new and leased it to Superior Package Boiler and Equipment Co. on 6/7/65.
The car was sold to James B. Strup on 10/14/68 for $900.00 (see pictures for bill of sale).
The car remained with Mr. Strup for the next 47 years (1968 - 2015). Upon Mr. Strup's passing the car was sold to
me on 10/1/2015. At that time the car had 49,450 miles and was sold to me by Mr. Strup's wife (Mary Rose Strup).
9/3/64 - 6,000 mile service at 6,200 miles
4/6/66 - 12,000 service at 15,077 miles
11/30/66 - 20,000 mile service at 26,155 miles
5/16/68 - 48,000 mile service at 45,379 miles
The car was driven less than 4,000 miles between 10/14/68 and 10/1/15!
I have the original keys, build sheet, I.D. Card, owners manual, and several receipts from the past 50 years. The
car was repainted once by Mr. Strup in the original color, silver smoke gray. It was painted by Rice's Auto
Painting in West Hepstead, N.Y. in 1977 I believe. I believe but cannot be sure as the work order does not show
the date. I think it was 1977 because I do have the receipt for a new convertible top dated 9/15/77 and it is
believed Mr. Strup had the new top put on and the car repainted at he same time. When repainted neither the engine
compartment, door jams nor trunk were repainted, they still retain their original silver smoke gray paint.
The timing chain and gas tank were replaced 10/7/09. Some of the other work that was done on the car that I do not
have receipts for are: cherry bomb mufflers, power brakes, wheels as shown (I do have the steel wheels and full
hubcaps), intake manifold and carburetor. The interior is original except for the passenger door panel which I
replaced as the original was less than perfect. The original door panel is dated 3/1/65 and will be included with
the sale. At some point the radio was replaced with an after market model, I do not have the original.
Everything on the car works as it should. The air blows cold, the power top works correctly, horn works, wipers
work, all lights and directionals work.

Mulally wanted to kill Lincoln as late as last year, Fields vows to turn it around

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

Lincoln fans might want to give incoming Ford CEO Mark Fields a pat on the back for having a hand in saving the brand from the chopping block last year. He's among the people spearheading the rejuvenation of the division away from its stodgy image to appeal to younger customers.
According to two unnamed sources speaking to Bloomberg, CEO Alan Mulally was ready to kill Lincoln last year. Following the slow production ramp-up of the MKZ combined a with a costly ad campaign, Mulally was frustrated and openly suggested dropping the brand. However, Fields and Jim Farley, Ford's marketing boss, convinced the CEO that the brand was worth saving. They also created a plan to prevent similar problems for new models in the future.
It seems that one part of the strategy may involve waiting until new models are at dealers before starting a big ad campaign for them. Lincoln global director, Matt VanDyke, recently told Autoblog that the division is holding off on a full marketing push behind the new MKC crossover to prevent the supply problems that plagued the MKZ last year. Its big offensive begins in the fall when the CUVs are at all of the dealers and consumers are at home watching more TV. VanDyke also told Bloomberg that Fields, Farley and Joe Hinrichs, Ford president of the Americas, have more direct oversight over new product launches now.

Ford Figo concept unveiled in India

Mon, 03 Feb 2014

Ford has officially unveiled the Figo Concept at the 2014 Auto Expo in New Delhi. While it may wear a concept badge, we'd argue this little sedan, which is under 12 feet long, looks ready to replace the current Figo and do battle with other B-segment cars in the world's emerging markets.
"With the Figo Concept, we are showing that choosing a compact sedan does not mean compromising on premium design or smart solutions," said Kumar Galhotra, Ford's VP of engineering, global product development. That premium design includes Ford's familial, trapezoidal grille and Fusion-esque headlights in front, while the rear end reminds us of the last-generation Focus Coupe. While that car wasn't exactly attractive, the chopped off tail looks pretty nice on this smaller car. And if you really don't like the looks of the Figo Concept, just remember - it looks better than the current production model. Aerodynamically, the Figo's shape is quite slippery, which means reduced wind noise and improved fuel economy.
As for the "smart solutions" touted by Galhotra, the narrow confines of Indian streets make driving even the tiniest cars a challenge. To give the Figo Concept a one-up on the competition, Ford has fitted power-folding mirrors that sport a "flexible architecture," which should stand up well to bumps from cars, people or bikes. We don't have any interior images, but Ford is promising a large cabin, that includes a dock that can accommodate a phone or MP3 player, allowing either to be controlled through the car.
