Summer Time is upon us and whats the best kinda car to have and enjoy for the summer time? A Convertible, convertible convertible!!! It pains me here to offer this Uniquely Colored Sunburst Gold Clearcoat Metallic Saleen S281 SC Mustang, but due to the times and some health issues I am forced to part with her. What I have for auction here is my own Personal 2000 Saleen S281 SC (SUPERCHARGED) Mustang Convertible #00-68 a One of One Saleen Mustang with these Saleen Options, Color and RARE AUTOMATIC Transmission as verified by Team Saleen way back in March of 2006 with Team Saleen Letter of Autheniticity signed by Liz Saleen. I am the Second Owner of this 2000 Saleen S281 SC Convertible that I purchased from the Original Owner in December of 2005. In 1999 the Original Owner of this Unique Colored Saleen Mustang caught wind that Ford was coming out with a Gold Colored Mustang for 2000 and the original owner who purchased this car put in a request for this Unique Saleen to be built with this color, Saleen Options and Rare Automatic Transmission. The car was delivered to Rich Ford (Appropriate for a Gold Colored Car) in NM and had a MSRP of $52,151.00 with the Optional Saleen Equipment it came with. A non-refundable $500.00 security deposit is due within 24 hours of the close of auction. Payment to be made within 7 days of the close of auction. I will help with the shipping as much as I can however it is the full responsibilty of the buyer to pay for and arrange transportation. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me and ask BEFORE you make a bid. If you don't have funding already lined up and approved, please do not bid. Good luck and thank you for viewing my listing. |

Originally I had never planned on getting rid of this Unique Saleen Ride or offering it up for sale, but due to the times, some health issues I have been dealing with and the fact my friend Joe from Chicane Sport Tuning had worked on this car in the past when he was around, I have good and sad memories with this car every time I'm in and or around it. This Saleen Mustang has been a great car, it has been driven, but always garaged overnight while in my possession. The Sunburst Gold Clearcoat is a color that you really have to see in the Sunlight for it to speak for itself. People who have seen this car in person always ask if I', an NFL Saints fan due to it's color combo, but i'm not. This Unique and Rare Colored Saleen is a One of One Saleen with this Color, automatic transmission and options from Saleen and was 2nd Gold Saleen made for 2000, but the 1st Gold Saleen Convertible made for 2000 with low #68 Production number out of what I was told by Liz way back when of 13 total Gold Saleen Mustangs for 2000 with this particular one having the most amount of Saleen options. This Saleen S281 SC Convertible came with all the standard Saleen equipment, except Saleen Automatic Pedals because supposedly they were not made for the automatic Saleen production cars yet back at that time. This car was also released from Saleen with the Saleen Center console Plaque not in place because Saleen did not have the first 100 plaques supposedly done by the time these cars were released to go to the different dealerships! When I called Liz from Saleen in 2005, she told me she had it on her desk at Saleen and that was reunited with the car under my hands. I was also told by the original owner of this Saleen that it arrived at Rich Ford without a Saleen Windshield in place and later the Owner added a Silver one on his own, because Saleen had not made a Gold Color 99-04 Style Saleen Windshield Banner yet, but Liz from Saleen said there was no way this car could have left Saleen without a Windshield banner. So who do you believe? For the most part I have kept this Saleen as Original as possible with the exception of a few things! This Saleen Mustang originally had the Chrome wheel 18 x 9 Only Option wheels, well I replaced out the Original wheels With New Original Saleen Stamped Wheels 18 x 9 fronts and 18 x 10 rears Professionally stripped and professionally powdercoated Gloss Black by Specialized in Huntington Beach, Ca. I did this because I thought the Chrome wheels didn't look right on this black graphics car. The Car used to have the Pirelli Rosso PZero Tires, but I changed them out with BF KDWS 265 35 18 on the front and 295 35 18's on the rear (Rears have less then 1000 miles on them)
I know Saleen never had black wheels on Saleen Mustangs during these years, but in my honest opinion this car should have had black wheels from the factory. Saleen Optional equipment are as follows:
Saleen Lightweight Hood
Saleen Leather Recaro Seats
Saleen Floor Mats
Saleen 13" Braking System
Chrome Alloy Wheels
Saleen Sport Bar & Soft Tonneau.
When I first acquired this car in 2005 coming off the trailor from being shipped from back east to here in California, the car had a couple of issues I was perplexed on so I took it to Joe at Chicane Sport Tuning way back when for him to help figure how to solve the issues. One issue it had was it wouldn't go into boost unless you really put your pedal into it and the boost gauge would go up to 10/11 and the intercooler gauge was up in temp at 170. Up at his shop we quickly learned that the cars intercooler fluid lines were completely blocked/clogged with build up/crude from the car sitting so long. This car had been for sale for over a year and a half before I acquired it with 29,000 Original miles. At Chicane's we took the Saleen Intake and Blower off, Lines, heat exchanger off and cleaned out everything and replaced out the Intercooler Lines with Chicane's Stainless Steel Lines and while he was in there he replaced the Saleen intercooler with one of his Custom made better designed Intercoolers in which on another Saleen he had recently put one of these in on at that time was taken to the dyno and put up 50 RWHP number just from equipping one of these Chicane Intercooler in that Saleen at that time. This Saleen S281 SC has never been on a Dyno and or Dyno tunned, but I can tell you that when I drove it home from his shop in Torrance long ago, driving this car home was like a night an day difference with the fluid being allowed to properly run through the Saleen Intake manifold to cool the blower efficiently. It was not inexpensive to add Joe's Intercooler in by any means. I have all receipts for stuff that has been done on this car over the years with the exception of Synthetic Oil Changes that I personally have performed every 3000 miles. This Saleen was driven short distances locally for years as my daily driver and stored in a garage at night, everynight. In 2010 this car racked up most of it's current mileage by me driving up to Joe's Shop in Torrance California when he was around 2 to 3 times a week 60 miles one way up until November of 2010 when I was let go from my 17 year job and had another major crisis in my life.
Today, I would not hesitate to hop in this Saleen adn drive it cross country as it has been reliable beyond belief. Along with keeping up on it's regular maintenance stuff, this car has gotten a new Alternator, Optima battery, Coil on plugs, New Transmission recently, window regulators and I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff here- I have tones of receipts and literature stuff for this car including the Saleen Letter from Liz Saleen and Minnie version of the Original Window Sticker. I have enjoyed taking this car to car shows and it has always taken home awards (Trophy's will not go with this car when it sells). This car is a blast to drive and is what I call a great Freeway car with it's low 3.08 gears and automatic transmission is a breeze to drive and gets 23 miles to the gallon when driving normal on the freeway. This Saleen also has a couple extra added items that have enhanced it in my opinion. A MoSaleen Powder Coated Black Idler arm to put more tension on the Belt adding more HP, a Tunable-Induction Demolet Black Air Intake with K&N Style Air Filter, a 75 MM BBK California Smog Legal Throttle Body and Joe Tweaked the Mass Air Meter at his shop with his magic touch too. Suspension wise I added the Maxium Motorports Camber Caster Kit that Joe at Chicane put in way back when and I had plans and parts up at Joe's shop for him to put the MM Sub frame connectors, a Detroit locker and Mosler Splines to go into the car, but Joe from Chicane was taken before his time and those parts some how dissapeared from his shop inventory. Honestly, since that happened, my desire to do anything else with this car has stopped other then enjoy driving it. I had a bunch of big plans for it and never planned on getting rid of it, but am seeing if anyone out there might be interested in it? Some extra Saleen things that will go with the car will be the Authentic Saleen Hard top Speedster Cover (Needs to be painted Gold) Black currently, and Original Saleen 2000 NOS Floor Mats that have never been stepped on and are an Obsolete floor mat now with it's particular floor foot print pattern, Obsolete Saleen Bra with SC Hood part for the bra too. On the Interior, nothing has really been changed except I added some custom Real Carbon Fiber (Not the Cheap Simulated stuff) Door Switch Panels and Door Handle Cups which were $600 alone.
Obviously I know tons about this car inside and out! Feel free to ask. I have tons more pictures from having it for the last 8 years! It's not a perfect car by any means, mechanically it is with everything working, but it does have the classic Saleen Front Fascia Rock chips that one gets from driving a car, some spidering on the the saleen body kit parts. For what ever reason, this particular Saleen sits really low, lower then most standard Saleen Mustangs similar to it's year.
Anyways, I can go on and on about this car, if you have questions ask.

A Couple of other things I just remembered to add to the listing is that when Chicane Sport Tuning was around way back when Joe also Added a Custom Aluminum Drive shaft to my car since one was never offered through Ford racing for Automatic Transmission cars and with this in place driving at higher speeds makes for a real smooth ride, but I The rear Slotted Disc Brakes are 13" Baer made and had them installed to give that more even displacement look on this ride from the see through on the wheels from front wheels to looking through the rear wheels. New 2001 Darker Style Head light covers were installed over the original bland clear ones. I'm sure I will keep adding stuff to this listing here!

My year in EVs: 8 electrics that are changing the car industry
Wed, Dec 1 2021The year 2021 will go down as an inflection point in the auto industry’s transition to electric vehicles. It's when many much-anticipated models became reality. No longer sketches or sketchy prototypes, electric vehicles appeared from all corners with everything from the Lucid Air to Ford Mustang Mach-E changing how we think about transportation. I managed to drive a lot of them, and as I went through my notes, I realized IÂ’ve got a mini memoir of the seminal EVs of 2021. HereÂ’s my take on eight of them. Hummer EV Easily the most over-the-top EV I tested this year. The 1,000-hp super truck lived up to the hype with its domineering presence, stupendous power and simply being a reincarnated Hummer. I took it for a short spin on- and off-road at the General Motors Proving Grounds in Milford, Mich., and was impressed with the airy cabin, removable sky panels and expansive touchscreens. Yes, I crab walked, which felt like steering a pontoon boat, though I can see why it would be useful. Lucid Air Dream Performance The most beautiful sedan I tested all year, EV or otherwise. Unlike the futuristic Mercedes EQS — which is quite attractive — LucidÂ’s car is a blend of mid-century modern interior aesthetics and classic European exterior styling. When I walked up for my test drive, someone who IÂ’m pretty sure was comedian Jon Lovitz was sitting inside and taking it all in. As it sat in the valet of a hotel in a wealthy suburban enclave north of Detroit, the Lucid drew more attention than any of the Mercedes, Cadillacs or Lexus models passing by. The driving experience was enveloping. Starting at $169,000 for the Performance model (reservations are closed), the Lucid I sampled packed 1,111 hp and 471 miles of range. From the precise steering to the comfortable suspension, the dynamics were spot-on. It's a formidable product, and all the more impressive given itÂ’s LucidÂ’s first. Chevy Bolt EV The Bolt was the most pleasant surprise for me. It handled well, offered low-to-the-ground hot hatch dynamics and the steering was dialed-in. Adding a crossover variant for the new generation was a smart play. On a summer morning where I went to a first drive of the Ford Bronco at an off-road course, my hour-long commute in the Bolt was an enjoyable appetizer. The Bolt was also my biggest disappointment due to its extensive recalls for fire risk. Ironically, I had the Bolt in my driveway when the initial recall went out for the previous generation (2017-19).
Autoblog Minute: New car customer satisfaction down according to latest ACSI report
Wed, Sep 9 2015Customers have spoken and automobile satisfaction is down in 2015. Autoblog's Chris McGraw reports on this edition of Autoblog Minute. Show full video transcript text [00:00:00] Customers have spoken and automobile satisfaction is down in 2015. I'm Chris McGraw and this is your Autoblog Minute. The American Customer Satisfaction Index or ACSI released its updated numbers and according to the survey, new car buyer satisfaction is down for the third straight year. According to an ACSI press release, customer satisfaction with new automobiles has fallen 3.7 percent, to 79 on its 100-point scale. The ACSI report is based on over 4,100 customer surveys collected in the second quarter of 2015 Sitting at the top of the industry in customer satisfaction is Toyota's Lexus brand with a score of 84. Which was good enough to dethrone Mercedes-Benz, which fell 3% to a score of 83. Of the Big Three, Ford was the only domestic automaker to maintain overall customer satisfaction with its score of 81. General Motors slipped 3% to 79 and Fiat Chrysler had a 5% drop, registering a score of 75 out the possible 100. What's driving this trend of customer dissatisfaction? ASCI points to the rise in recalls and car prices. Where do you land on customer satisfaction spectrum? Sound off in the comments with your thoughts on the current state of car ownership and brand quality. For Autoblog, I'm Chris McGraw. Weekly Recap: Toyota, Mazda team up to 'make cars better'
Sat, May 16 2015Toyota and Mazda are teaming for a noble purpose: to "make cars better." That's how the two Japanese automakers termed their partnership, which was announced this week. So what does this actually mean? The companies said they will set up a joint committee to look for areas of cooperation and named safety and the environment as issues they plan to tackle. From a product perspective, it's believed that Toyota is interested in Mazda's Skyactive engine portfolio. In turn, Mazda has its eye on Toyota's fuel-cell and plug-in hybrid technology. While more specifics were not confirmed, the companies said the "agreement will go beyond the traditional framework of cooperation," and it has the potential to be a long-range partnership. "The main purpose of this initiative is to enhance the appeal of our cars," Toyota president Akio Toyoda said at the announcement. Previously, Mazda has licensed Toyota's hybrid tech and assembled compact cars for Toyota in Mexico. Akio Toyoda said these projects "triggered" the automakers to explore further collaboration. Dave Sullivan, product analysis manager for AutoPacific, said the tie-up echoes Daimler's wide-ranging work with the Renault-Nissan alliance. "This could be a well-groomed match due to each having very unique skill sets," he said. OTHER NEWS & NOTES Volvo selects South Carolina for US factory Volvo confirmed this week that it will build its first US factory in South Carolina, with construction set to begin this fall. The company first revealed plans in March, though it didn't announce a site. The plant will have initial annual production of 100,000 units, though the vehicle or vehicles to be assembled were not specified. The factory, located near Charleston, will open in 2018 and ultimately employ 4,000 people. The facility will help Volvo continue its growth strategy, which includes strengthening its presence in the US market, where it wants to sell more than 100,000 cars per year. "Building a plant in the US is a reflection of Volvo Cars' commitment to the US and the key role the US plays in our growth objectives," Lex Kerssemakers, senior vice president, Americas, said in a statement. Ford GT spied on the road The 2017 Ford GT was spotted testing around the Blue Oval's headquarters in Dearborn, MI, this week. The raw body panels were exposed, and they lacked paint or camouflage. It's the first time the GT has been captured on the street after a spring of auto show reveals.
