T Bucket Roadster 1923 T on 2040-cars
Olathe, Kansas, United States
Up for auction is a T Bucket Roadster. I am selling this car for a friend that inherited it from his grandfather. This car is titled as a "homebuilt". It began construction in 1966 in Southern California and is titled as a 1966. My friends grandfather purchased it in the late 70s and owned it until he passed a few years ago. In the early 90s, he had the car repainted and a new interior installed, both are still in excellent condition. The last upgrade that he completed was in the late 90s when he converted the front drum brakes to discs. It is powered by a 1958 Corvette 283 with a turbo 350 3 speed automatic transmission and a 9" ford posi trac rear end. It is a fiberglass bucket with steel tube frame. I'm not sure what the gear ratio is, but the car is very driveable. It has an electric fuel pump and internally regulated alternator. It has a Holly Street Dominator intake mankifold and the factory corvette valve covers. The odometer shows 25,727 miles, but I can not guarantee the accuracy. The engine and trans have no leaks, but the rear diff has a very slight leak, common problem with 9" Fords. The emergency brake is a drive shaft mounted disc brake with a pull handle in the floor. Front suspension is all chrome, in excellent condition with the inverted leaf spring. Rear suspension is the same inverted leaf spring with air shocks that are good. The dash has a fuel gauge, amp meter, temp, oil pressure and speedo, all work. When he decided to sell the car, we installed a new battery and a new carburetor, Edelbrock polished. We replaced one brake line and flushed the brake system. The header side pipes have baffles in them, so it is not incredibly loud, but it does thump! I am located in Olathe, KS, southwest side of Kansas City and will show the car any time. The car runs and drives great and is absolutely an "Old School hot rod". I am selling this car with no reserve, It will sell! Please ask questions early so I have time to provide adequate answers. I can provide additional pictures if you like. I will require a $500 deposit through Pay Pal within 24 hours of auction end and the balance paid in cash or cashiers check within 7 days. I will assist with loading if you have the car shipped and I can store the car for up to 14 days. If you need additional terms, please have those agreed upon prior to acution end. Thanks for looking and happy bidding.

Xcar flogs the 2015 Ford Focus ST
Wed, Feb 18 2015There's an inevitable dilemma that practically every auto fan eventually faces, at least other than Jay Leno and Jerry Seinfeld, and that's the tradeoff of performance, practicality and perhaps most importantly, money. Parking the fabled supercar in the garage might be the wish, but for most folks bigger responsibilities – like a family – just don't allow that dream to be a reality. In the view of XCar Films, this intersection of needs and wants is where vehicles like the latest Ford Focus ST provide a fantastic compromise between exciting driving and everyday practicality. Xcar hops into Ford's recently refreshed European hot hatch to illustrate its abilities as both a hauler for the small family on the move and for the driver who just wants to go. The Blue Oval left the powertrain alone for the ST's update, but sharpened the exterior styling, revised the interior and retuned the front suspension and steering. Being realistic, no one is ever going to get behind the wheel of the Focus ST and mistake it for a Porsche, but that's not really the point. Instead, buyers get to put a smile on their face from time to time and still maintain life's other responsibilities. Ford and Chrysler reducing summer plant shutdowns
Wed, 22 May 2013Most domestic automaker assembly plants traditionally take a couple of weeks off during the summer. The shutdowns give each plant time for much needed repairs and maintenance, and in some cases, help better align production with demand. Not this year, though, as demand for many models is outstripping what Ford, Chrysler and General Motors plants can produce.
Ford has announced that it will shorten its annual summer shutdown for most North American plants from two weeks to one. The shorter shutdown will increase the carmaker's annual North American production by 40,000 units on top of the 200,000 extra units that it was already planning to produce this year versus last. Automotive News reports that Ford produced 2.8 million vehicles on this continent in 2012, and that output this year has already increased 13 percent through April.
Chrysler, meanwhile, is also operating at full tilt and plans to run some plants through the summer with no shutdown at all. Those not getting a break include Jefferson North where the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango are assembled, Toledo North that will assemble the new Cherokee, and Conner Avenue, home of SRT Viper production. Other assembly plants will be down for a single week, while all of Chrysler's engine and transmission plants except one in Indiana will continue operating with no shutdown this summer.
Here's how Detroit is selling more luxury vehicles than Germany and Japan
Sun, Dec 14 2014Now there's an attention-grabbing headline, eh? Although the answer to the riddle - pickup trucks and SUVs - might be somehow deflating, the numbers involved deserve a going over. According to TrueCar's figures (click on the table to enlarge), six of the year's ten best-selling vehicles in the US that sell for a transaction price above $50,000 are body-on-frame, and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class is the only foreigner to crack the top five. Every enthusiast knows that pickup trucks are 'Murica's most popular vehicle by a colossal margin, and there have been plenty of reports about the popularity of luxuriously appointed trucks and SUVs, but compare these figures from TrueCar: 70 percent of Chevrolet Tahoe sales have a transaction price above $50K, and The Bowtie is expected to make $3.9 billion in revenue on 66,945 predicted high-dollar sales; 95.1 percent of E-Class sales break $50K, so the German company will make $4.0 billion on 67,006 predicted sales in that pricing sphere. It's about the only time you'll see the Tahoe ranked right next to Mercedes' bread-and-butter sedan. Ram is ahead of those two with $4.2B coming from $50K-plus sales. The Ford F-Series does almost as much revenue as the next three combined, with an expected $10.8 billion coming from sales of trucks over $50K - more than a quarter of the model's total sales, when a base F-150 can be had for about $26,000. Yes, the Germans make a lot more money on fewer sales, but considering the comparison, the bottom line isn't too troubled by such facts. Weighing like-for-like, the full-size Ford walks it in every category; elsewhere, the Chevrolet Silverado outsells the Ram, but the Ram outsells the Chevy by 6.7 percent above $50K. And for all the flak GMC takes over swapping out grilles, the Sierra also outsells the Chevy in the well-appointed segment, 16.1 percent of sales versus 11 percent – the Professional Grade brand is a huge profit center for The General.
