Hello!! You are bidding on a custom built, show winning Rat Rod. It has been featured in numerous magazines and videos. Its been driven all over the state and is currently tag’d and insured. This car was built to what you see today, the body is an all original 1926 Ford Model T 5 window coupe body, channeled 4” and it has a Mahogany wood roof. Its painted Satin black and finished off with Faux patina paint. The body is all real and all steel, yes it has real rust on It and bullet holes as well. The headlights are ORGINAL 1923 model t headlights converted to 12v. The chassis is a one off custom built fully boxed 2x4” steel chassis that was Z’d in the rear and uses a stock rear end and 4 link suspension out of a 80’s monte carlo. It was recently rebuilt with a 373 posi unit and new bearings. The front end has a drop front axle and disc brakes. It goes down the road and stops perfectly fine. Wheels are 15x7 steelies with baby moons with good tires. The interior is finished off in street signs, license plates and old vintage signs. Drivetrain consist of a 350 Chevrolet engine, double hump “fuelie” 202/160 heads, thumper cam, Circa 60’s/70’s Edelbrock Tunnel ram intake manifold, Holley double pumper carb, lake style headers. Powerglide Transmission with a small stall and a lokar shifter. I drive this car all the time, I take my kids in it as well and it never gives me problems, remember this is a “rat rod” not a show car, it took years to get it to look this way and its supposed to look this way. Please call if you have any questions, the car is located in the Daytona beach area 386-852-4473, LOW RESERVE!!!

*NOTE* the car is titled as a 1932, not a 1926, this is how it has always been since it was built and since I have owned it. And the interior does have cushions or seats you sit on, I removed them for the pics but they are included in the sale.

A $1500 nonrefundable deposit is due within 24 hours of auction ending, this money will go to the final auction sale price of the car. I will assist in the final sale and transport of the car but it DOES NOT come with a warranty or return of any kind, it is sold in the “AS-IS” condition. Please do your research before bidding, bidders and buyers must be in contact via e mail or phone at time of sale, 386-852-4473

How Ford plans to handle insurance and repair questions surrounding new aluminum-bodied F-150

Tue, 21 Jan 2014

Building a car out of aluminum has a number of benefits - the lighter weight allows the vehicle to be more agile, more fuel efficient, make better use of its power and be more resistant to dings and dents. The downside to the advanced construction, though, is that repairs are both challenging and expensive. That's troubling for the new, aluminum-bodied Ford F-150, because it's kind of made a name for itself as a rugged, durable work vehicle.
How will the legions of Ford buyers cope when it comes time to insure and repair their new trucks? Well, according to Ford, it's expecting a ten-percent jump in insurance costs for the aluminum-bodied F-150, although Ford's truck marketing manager, Doug Scott, was quick to point out that the F-150 is generally cheaper to insure than its competition from Ram and General Motors. "At the end of the day, that's sort of a wash," Scott told Automotive News at last week's Detroit Auto Show. "We've spent a lot of time and feel very comfortable that that's not going to be an inhibitor."
The other issue facing Ford is the distinct lack of body shops that have the training or equipment to repair aluminum-bodied vehicles. AN cites an estimate from the Automotive Service Association claiming that of the 30,000 independent body shops in the US, less than 10 percent are able to work on aluminum.

Ford's J Mays feels vindicated by Fusion reception

Tue, 25 Sep 2012

It's hard to think back now, but the same man overseeing the design of the 2013 Ford Fusion also presided over a rather lackluster period in Ford design, highlighted by vehicles like the Five Hundred and Freestyle. With the redesigned Fusion receiving high praise, J Mays tells Automotive News that he feels vindicated from criticisms suggesting he's not a daring enough designer.
When Mays took over as lead of design in 1997, he admits to having quite an ego ("My head would barely fit through the door some days. I've long since gotten over myself") and the workload to match. With the Blue Oval's portfolio full of premium brands like Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo at that point, along with the bread-and-butter Ford, Lincoln and Mercury models, Mays certainly had quite the challenge.
It was in the mid-2000s that Mays took over just the premium brands, and took on the new title of Chief Creative Officer. At the time, Mays endured some criticism for looking backwards to retro styling, rather than setting a new standard for American car design - criticism that Mays says he is free from with the all-new Fusion.

Ford promises 12 new global performance vehicles through 2020

Thu, Dec 11 2014

Ford just keeps rolling out the big announcements today. We've already told you about the next-gen Focus RS coming to the US and the upcoming Sync 3 infotainment system. And this latest one should perk up the ears of racing fans or anyone who enjoys an enthusiastic drive (basically, all Autoblog readers). The Blue Oval says it has "more than 12" new performance vehicles on the way globally through 2020. Unfortunately, the only one that the automaker confirms at the moment is the Focus RS, but recent rumors might suggest a few others. Ford reportedly has the Shelby Mustang GT350R, next-gen F-150 Raptor and a Ford GT successor all on the way, all of which could possibly debut at the Detroit Auto Show in January. The future GT might even take the company back to racing at Le Mans. Speaking of motorsports, Ford is also blending its performance vehicle and racing efforts worldwide into a unified entity by combining SVT, Team RS and Ford Racing into a new organization called Ford Performance. It's responsible not just for excelling on the track but also for developing aero improvements, electronics, powertrain and lightweight tech for the Blue Oval's vehicles. "Our new global Ford Performance team ties together racing, performance vehicles and parts. It will allow us to more quickly introduce products and accessories that meet the needs of customers around the world on-road and on the track," said Raj Nair, Ford group vice president, Global Product Development, in the company's press release. The automaker thinks this market might be booming, especially among younger buyers. For example, recent data shows Millennials buy ST models at twice the rate of the rest of Ford's cars. Scroll down to read the Blue Oval's full announcement of the new division and the plan to get excited about things to come. FORD DRIVING PERFORMANCE INNOVATION TO NEW LEVELS; MORE THAN 12 VEHICLES COMING FROM NEW GLOBAL TEAM Ford bringing more global performance vehicles to customers worldwide; more than 12 new performance vehicles through 2020 – including Focus RS – to be available globally Ford uniting regional performance engineering and racing teams as one global team under Ford Performance, delivering more new vehicles and parts, more quickly Ford will deliver more than 12 new performance vehicles for global enthusiasts through 2020, as the company announced today its new global Ford Performance team.
