This speedster is a genuine 1925 Ames-bodied Ford.

The F.A. Ames Company of Owensboro, Kentucky produced this very popular Model 815 Racer Body from 1915-1925 as a replacement body for the Model T Ford of the day that was "a favorite with red-blooded men- the young men who set the pace in every community- the young men who like snap, style and speed."

It was ordered with the optional Double Panel Windshield and Water-tight Trunk.

True to the spirit of its purpose, this speedster is not just another delicate, cute little Ford speedster.  There are plenty of those for sale out there if you want a namby-pamby parade car so you can putt around the block and wave at the neighbors.

But as you consider the following list of equipment, it will be very apparent to the discerning speedster fan that this thing is as they would have said in the early days of motoring, "a real Scorcher!"  If driving this car doesn't put a smile on your face,  I suggest that you should probably check to see if you have a pulse!

Check out these features:    1)  Real 1925 Ames-Bodied Speedster
                                                2)  Ruckstel Rear Axle (Smooth as Silk)

When the Chevrolet brothers introduced the Fronty Model R Cylinder Head in 1921, it absolutely astonished the racing world by its performance and dependability, winning practically  every race it entered, including races at Indianapolis, Ft. Wayne, South Bend, Chicago, Graham, Texas and Ventura, Calif.

Qualifying in the 1923 Indy 500 at 86.92 MPH and defeating all the foreign entries such as Mercedes, Bugatti, etc. and many of the American entries, it demonstrated what a Ford car can really do when equipped with the Fronty head.  The racing community of the day took notice.

The Model S-R 2-spark plug 2-carburetor head configuration like this speedster sports was brought out to "meet a demand of the fastest drivers for something faster than the regular Model R."  With its dual Winfield Carbs and dual spark Mag,  what a combination!

So here it is, the one you've been searching for all these years.  How long would it take to locate correct period parts and assemble such a car?  This is not a bunch of reproduction stuff made to look pretty.  What we have here is the genuine article!

Very low mileage based on condition but unknown. Vehicle being sold by Bill of Sale.

What car should James Robertson buy to drive his famous 21-mile commute?

Thu, Feb 5 2015

The Internet has been abuzz this week with the story of Detroit resident James Robertson, the 56-year-old factory worker who has walked some 21 miles to work for the last 10 years. The Detroit Free Press brought Robertson's story to the fore, helping an online fundraising campaign to generate more than $275,000 (as of this writing). The original goal was just $5,000, or about enough to replace the used Honda that died on Robertson back in 2005, and left him walking. So, newly flush with funds, what's the perfect car for Robertson to buy? Let's look at the specifics of his situation, and try to pick out the best options. Here's what we know: Robertson's commute is (famously) 21 miles; he lives in downtown Detroit (for now) and seems pretty humble, so something very flashy is probably out; former Honda aside, his ties to the city (and statements about being a Ford fan) seem to indicate a Detroit Three company product is best; he's a single guy with a girlfriend; he's got to deal with Michigan weather, and the sometimes fickle snow removal processes in The D. Here are some choices: Ford F-150 Robertson is on record as being a Taurus fan, and after a decade of walking I've no doubt that the big sedan would offer a cozy respite. Still, as a car guy and a student of the industry, I'd have a hard time recommending a sedan so clearly in need of replacement. Especially when The Blue Oval has such great stuff within the rest of its roster. The 2015 F-150 seems almost perfect for Robertson. Opting for either of the new EcoBoost V6 engines should help keep fuel bills in reasonable check, while healthy ride height and four-wheel drive will get him to work on time even during the snowiest of snow days. Better still, with a fat options sheet and car-like ride quality, Robertson can have just about every amenity he might want, in a package that won't disrespect his blue-collar roots. Chevrolet Colorado You guys saw this one coming, right? The smaller footprint of the midsize Chevy pickup, relative to some of the other options here, should be an advantage for urban parking and driving. And again, 4x4 is an option for the nasty weather, the running costs should stay pretty low and there aren't many tech/luxury features that can't be had in-cabin. I'd go ahead and splash out on the Crew Cab bodystyle, too, just in case Robertson feels like starting a carpool.

Ford predicts it will finish 2013 as top-selling US brand

Mon, 30 Dec 2013

Ford is ready to call the ball on its 2013 sales totals, predicting a first-place finish for units sold in the US for a single brand. The company anticipates selling more than 2.4 million vehicles when all vehicle sales over the last 12 months have been tallied, repeating the victory it trumpeted over Toyota last year.
According to Ford's accounting, it sold 329,677 more vehicles than did Toyota in 2012. This year, the Blue Oval expects that margin to grow; through the end of November, Ford says it has outsold Toyota by 396,041 units.
Retail sales of Ford products are projected to exceed 1.7 million units for 2013 (the best retail result in 6 years for the company), with passenger cars accounting for 600k of that total. The redesigned Fusion is expected to crest the 290k mark, and the Fiesta is said to be ready to hit a model-record of 70k-plus. Meanwhile, utility vehicles and trucks are still paying a lot of bills in Dearborn, with the new Escape racking up an expected 300k sales and F-Series trucks chugging along at 688,810 units sold thru November.

Ford Mustang GT350 drops some camo

Mon, 03 Feb 2014

Now that we've poured over the 2015 Ford Mustang in its standard form, it's time to look ahead. We already knew (and heard - literally) that Ford was working on a higher-performance version of its 'Stang to replace the Shelby GT500, and earlier reports have stated that it will simply be called the GT350.
We don't have a ton of detail to go on, but this latest set of spy photos clearly shows a hood-mounted air scoop, which suggests a forced-induction powerplant is under the hood. However, this disagrees with earlier reports that the GT350 will be all motor, using a naturally aspirated engine to send massive horsepower to the rear wheels. Our spies also point out the functional vent aft of the front wheels to allow for better airflow, and the massive quad exhaust pipes can be seen, clear as day.
Expect to see the Mustang GT350 in April, when it debuts at the New York Auto Show in conjunction with the Pony's 50th anniversary. In the meantime, have a look at our gallery above to see the latest shots of the hot Mustang out testing.
