Teen's ear Frontenac powered vintage brass era race car. Very rare single overhead camshaft Frontenac model "T" based powered racer. This car is the real deal fast and exciting to drive.
The engine has an authentic and original chain drive Frontenac aluminum cylinder head with a Winfield carburetor mounted on a 2 port intake manifold. The exhaust is a 3 port Frontenac header with 3 1/2" exhaust pipe exiting along the right side of the car.
The Fronty gear drive water pump and magneto drive is located on the right hand side of the motor driving the correct period Bosch 2 spark magneto firing 8 spark plugs (2 per cylinder). The mechanical gear oil pump driven from the front of the cam drive provides pressure oiling thoroughout the engine. The engine when warm idles at 20+/- pounds . At speed the pressure runs upwards of 30+ pounds oil pressure.
There is a Fronty aluminum sump fitted adding 3-4 quarts of additional oil supply. The block of the motor is mounted on a model T pan with a Model T planetary 2 speed transmission and incorporating reverse as well. This car is electric start utilizing a Model T 6 volt starter.
Power is transmitted to the rear wheels through a Ruxtell 2 speed rear axle assembly and the enclosed Model T drive shaft. The wheels are Buffalo quick change wires with new knobby rear tires installed. Steering is quick and responsive using a Franklin style center steering gear. The front axle is a vintage tubular narrowed axle with quick change wire wheels fitted. There are 4 friction shocks fitted. The fuel tank is located in the tail section and fuel is delivered to the motor with an electric fuel pump. The original hand pump is still fitted to the side of the body. Note the tachometer is not hooked up and does not operate at this time, the fuel pressure is also not hooked up as it was for the hand pump which as noted is not plumbed due to the addition of the electric fuel pump. A new battery is included. The body is aluminum skinned over fabricated framing. There is enough room inside the cockpit to accommodate a 6' plus driver of ample size. The original vintage race car was freshened up a few year back and is not perfect; there are some finish blems as noted by the photos. Mechanically it is good, does not smoke or burn oil excellent compression and ready to drive or race.
Starting and driving is simple and uncomplicated. 2 switches one for the ignition and the other for the electric fuel pump, pull the magneto timing retard lever, push the starter button and the motor quickly fires up to a very throaty rumble. Once the engine reaches operating temperature you push the low gear pedal down and the car moves out easily and head out for the road. After reaching a modest speed let the low gear pedal out and the car is no in high gear running down the road. The steering is quick and responsive as is the throttle.

Recharge Wrap-up: Grimsel electric car breaks acceleration world record, electric Ford Raptor ATV debuts
Sun, Nov 16 2014An all-electric version of the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor is now available... as an ATV. Made by Caddyshack Golf Cars, it features officially licensed Ford badging borrowed from the super-macho pickup. It has a lifted chassis with leaf springs in the front and rear, hydraulic shocks and off-road tires. Powered by a 48-volt motor, it can do 0-25 mph in 2.9 seconds. Range is an estimated 30 miles - plenty to get you through 18 of the most rugged holes of golf you've ever played. Caddyshack also offers other miniature electric Fords, including a Shelby GT500, Shelby Cobra and 50th Anniversary Mustang. Read more at Green Car Reports. Lexus takes a crack at the BMW i3 in a new video from Funny or Die. In the decidedly anti-EV film, a group of guys drives to Las Vegas for a "dad-chelor party" in a Lexus CT 200h and a BMW i3. The Lexus hybrid makes it to Sin City without any problems, while the BMW's occupants need to make several lengthy stops to charge along the way, missing much of the fun. The video lampoons the inherent range limitations of the EV (the BMW group ends up driving slowly through the desert with no AC or radio to save energy), all in a well produced, if somewhat misguided, short comedy film. Perhaps they should have considered the i3 with a range extender? See the video below, or read more at Green Car Reports. Students from ETH Zurich and Lucerne University have set a new EV acceleration world record. Their "Grimsel" racing car was able to zoom from 0-100 kph (0-62.137 mph) in just 1.785 seconds in less than 30 meters (98.425 feet), crushing the previous record of 2.134 seconds. Even more impressive is that the Grimsel was built by the students themselves, as part of the Formula Student team at the Academic Motorsports Club Zurich. The car weighs just 370 pounds and provides 200 horsepower and 1,202 pound feet of torque from the four hub motors. The Grimsel uses traction control to manage torque for maximum acceleration. See the record acceleration run in the videos below or read more at Gizmag, at Electric Autosport or in the press release from ETH Zurich below. 'grimsel' breaks world record The 'grimsel' electric racing car today broke the previous world record for acceleration in electric cars. The vehicle accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.785 seconds in under 30 metres. The new record was set by students from ETH Zurich and Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, who also designed and built the vehicle.
2016 Ford Explorer configurator reveals $30,700* base price, Platinum starts at $52,600*
Wed, Nov 26 2014The a la carte menu for the 2016 Ford Explorer is ready for your... umm... exploring. The first page of the refreshed model's configurator reveals the lineup, including the new Platinum trim, and price increases for three of the carryover models. The base Explorer doesn't change by one red cent: it can still be had for $30,700. The XLT needs $33,400 (a $400 price bump), the Limited goes for $41,300 (a not insignificant $2,900 price increase), and the Sport requires $43,300 (a $200 increase). That new Platinum model goes where no Explorer MSRP has gone before, beginning at $52,600 (*all prices are subject to an $895 destination charge). However, since Ford has put almost everything in it, you can't jack the price up too much further unless you lose your mind in the accessories catalog. You can quickly head that way lower down the order, though. The Limited's price jump appears to be due to the voice-activated navigation system, which comes standard; it was formerly part of a $2,600 option package. The Limited goes up by just $995 when specced with the new 2.3-liter EcoBoost, which raises the power over the 2.0-liter EcoBoost it replaces to 270 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, but doesn't incur any fuel economy penalty. All-wheel drive tacks on another $2,000, safety features like active park assist and lane departure warning come as part of $3,000 Equipment Group A, and you'll still have another three pages of options to get through. On the other hand, if you just want to get your family bundle into an Explorer without spending a bundle, the base model doesn't offer any packages and only has one option over $200. Let the research begin.
Ford car-camo artist works his craft on Australia's new Falcon XR8
Fri, 25 Jul 2014Ford is among the kings of concealment when it comes to test cars. On one recent Mustang SVT mule, the automaker went to the extreme of putting baffles over the exhausts to hide how many there were. Sounds like a lot of work, right? In a new video, the Blue Oval has decided to take fans behind the scenes to show them what it takes to camouflage a prototype. In this case the subject was the recently unveiled 2014 Falcon XR8 for Australia.
Ford's prototype build coordinator Down Under has the very appropriate name of Neil Trickey, and it's his job to obfuscate the important bits of test cars to keep them out of spy shooters' camera lenses. Trickey calls his job a "dark art," and he shows off some of the tricks of his trade in the video. It turns out that the fabric we often see on mules is a type of lycra, but his team isn't above getting out a can of spray paint to conceal parts, too.
Scroll down to watch a video about a man who you probably wish could be a little worse at his job.
