Hello, I'm selling my 1926 Ford Model T roadster pickup. This is a mostly unrestored original vehicle. Over the years it has been painted, rewired with a correct replacement harness and the interior redone, but the running gear, frame, and axles appear original. There are a couple of cracks in the fenders. The bed has new wood in the floor. I think the bed is actually from a 1925, which is a little longer. The engine may never have been out, and appears to have never been rebuilt. The spark plugs are Wards that look to be from the 40's. It runs and drives perfectly. It has an electric starter, as well as the hand crank. It always starts, hot or cold, and always runs as it should. The original generator and cut-out regulator work fine, and you don't have to worry about the battery. The only modifications under the hood are an added modern fuel filter, and a modern flat tube radiator. They could be easily removed if you wanted 100% original. I have the original fuel screen that fits in the tank shut-off valve, and also the original radiator, which is perfectly functional. I put in the new radiator because I live in Tucson, where it regularly gets over 100 degrees, and T's don't have a water pump. The only gauge is amps, and it works fine. The original ignition/ light switch works fine. You start the car on the battery, then switch it to magneto. It all works perfectly. The planetary transmission shifts smoothly, and it has a desireable Ruxtell two-speed rear axle. I added two tail lights and a brake light switch for safe driving. The 21" wood spoke wheels are in good shape. The tires are older, but have good tread and are matching. The non- matching spare is in good shape and mounted on a rare original running board mount. It runs down the road at 40-45 MPH, and stops fine for a Model T. They are not at all like a newer car, but it is very driveable anywhere and any time if you know how to drive it. The throttle and spark advance are on the column, and the three pedals on the floor are 1st/ high gear, reverse, and brake. Look up driving a T on youtube for a lesson. It needs nothing, has recently been lubed and serviced, and is ready to go anywhere. The 6 volt battery is good. Please ask any questions before you bid. It is sold in as-is, where-is condition. I will drive it on to a transport, and give the driver a short lesson on moving it if you would like.

eBay Find of the Day: 1970 Ford Torino King Cobra prototype

Wed, 08 May 2013

Over the last decade or so, competition in NASCAR has led to some pretty funky looking racecars. And when the sport was still up and coming, the tight competition actually led to some interesting production cars. The Dodge Charger Daytona and Plymouth Superbird are perhaps the most well-known cars of the sport's "aero wars" era but the Ford Torino King Cobra might have been the most memorable of all, if not for some different homologation rules established in 1970. The Torino King Cobra never made it to production and never competed in NASCAR, but three examples exist including this one now for sale on eBay.
Designed as a successor for the aero-tuned Torino Talladega, the Torino King Cobra has a sleeker front end with hidden headlights and a sloped nose. As the story goes, NASCAR made a rule change in 1970 requiring 3,000 of the vehicles to be produced, which was substantially more than the 500 units required by the previous rule. One of the three prototypes ever built - and the only one built with the Boss 429 engine - is now for sale on eBay with a starting bid of $500,000. With a little more than three days left on the auction there are still no bids, but in the grand scheme of things this seems like a relatively fair price for a rare piece of automobile and racing history.

Curtain officially comes down on Mercury as dealers remove signage

Mon, 03 Jan 2011

The process of shutting down the Mercury is complete. Ford officially made the decision to close its mid-level brand in June of 2010. In the months that followed, Ford offered its dealers money to stop selling the cars, with production shutting down in September. The last Mercury, a Mariner, rolled off the assembly line in the beginning of October and former spokesperson Jill Wagner said her good-byes to both the car and her job. Now the last piece of the brand has come down as dealers are removing any and all Mercury signage from their lots.

Ford Mustang GT350R adds a lot more than just a new letter [w/videos]

Mon, Jan 12 2015

Okay Chevrolet, the ball is in your court. Ford served up one hell of a rebuttal to the track-focused Camaro Z/28, introducing the limited-production Mustang GT350R, complete with over 500 horsepower, over 400 pound-feet of torque and freaking carbon-fiber wheels. Carbon-fiber wheels. Seriously. It's because of those 19-inch hoops, along with some other changes, that Ford was able to slice 130 pounds from the already lightweight GT350 Track Pack. The wheels are responsible for a 13-pound reduction in unsprung weight per corner, while the removal of such superfluous things like the air conditioning, stereo, rear seats, trunk carpet, backup camera and tire inflator accounts for the rest of the weight reduction. Along with the lower weight, Ford has thoroughly reworked the GT350's aerodynamics, adding a simply monstrous rear wing and diffuser, along with vented wheel wells, a new hood vent that both extracts heat and reduces lift. Beside the aero aids, Ford has shod the carbon-fiber wheels in ultra-grippy Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, just to guarantee the shiny side remains up. View 21 Photos Ford retained the standard GT350's 5.2-liter, flat-pane V8, Torsen limited-slip differential (complete with a 3.73 rear axle ratio), although as power figures haven't been published for the standard car, there's no way to know whether the GT350R received a power bump. What we do know, though, is that the GT350R will not be limited to the track. While that's certainly its natural habitat, owners will be able to register and drive this monster on public roads. Take a look at the official press release on the GT350R, available below. And also be sure to have a peek at both Ford's stock photos of the new car, as well as our full gallery of live images, direct from the Blue Oval's Detroit Auto Show press conference home at Joe Louis Arena.
