1917 Model T Dump Truck, Chain Drive on 2040-cars
Middletown, Rhode Island, United States
An opportunity to own a rare piece of transportation history. Offered for sale is the show truck of one of New England's largest highway builders during the boom days of the Eisenhower Interstate System. A time of American achievement, Astronaut Alan B. Shephard, first American in space in 1961, rode in this truck during dedication of the highway in his name. link It was originally a stake body, but in the 1960's was restored and converted to a wood (oak) dump body that is gravity actuated. The final drive is via large chain to the rear axle, which I believe was a conversion pre-1960. Crank start. Starts well, runs and drives good, coils buzz well, though it seems it could turn more revolutions than it does (timing?). Compression about 50psi on all cylinders. Speed about 15mph (due to the reduction via sprockets and chain) but perhaps there is more if you can get more revolutions. I have put a new front tire, fan belt, ignition timer and wiring harness, and carb kit into it. For those that appreciate visible mechanics, she is driven by sprocket and chain to increase pulling power, and to carry the load an extra thick spring pack and solid rubber in the rear (though I doubt this bed ever saw more than a cooler). Video of it running here link Title: never had one, believe most states don't require on on this vintage, I will provide bill of sale (and have historic bills of sale). It am the 4th generation owner and would love to keep it, but just don't have the space to allow. Any questions, please message me. Happy Bidding. |

2015 Ford Mustang GT [w/video]
Fri, 19 Sep 2014At 50 years old, the object of fantasies, a tuner's dream, a movie star and more than nine million strong, it couldn't be truer to say that the Ford Mustang needs no introduction. This newest Mustang, however - making the biggest changes we've seen to the pony car since perhaps 1964.5 - is something Ford has been introducing all year.
We went on a Deep Dive, covered the way it looks when it was revealed, detailed the engine specs, got a ride in the EcoBoost and listened to the V8, got rolling footage and watched it do a standard-feature burnout.
The only thing left to do? Drive it. Having now done so for a few hours around Los Angeles, what we can tell you is to forget everything you know about the Mustang. This new car shames the old, redefines the model and gallops far ahead of anything else in the segment.
Ford to announce Mulally retirement, Fields CEO as early as May 1
Mon, 21 Apr 2014Ford CEO Alan Mulally may be about to announce his long-rumored retirement from the Blue Oval, according to a pair of insiders who spoke to Bloomberg. An official statement on the succession could arrive as soon as May 1. Chief Operating Officer Mark Fields is rumored to step up as the new CEO. The company is said to be readying the announcement soon to ensure an orderly transition of power, according to the insiders.
Mulally's retirement from Ford has been a hot topic for a while. He was seriously rumored last year to be leaving the automaker to take over as the CEO of Microsoft. The board even said at one point that it was okay with them if he stepped down early. However, the CEO maintained he would stay with the business through at least the end of 2014. Fields has been rumored as a frontrunner to take over the top spot at the company since he was promoted to COO.
For the moment, Ford isn't officially confirming any of these plans. "We don't comment on speculation. We do have succession plans in place for our key leadership. We take succession planning very seriously," said Susan Krusel, Ford Global News Manager, to Autoblog.
