Of
the 17 body styles offered in 1930, (the Model A’s third season), Ford offered
a completely new Deluxe Coupe, it feathered a upscale interior housed in a close-coupled
two-door sedan called “Victoria.” The
Victoria was most noteworthy, heralding a number of styling features that would
find wider use in 1931. Built with
extra-wide doors for ease of entry, the Victoria had folding front seats for
access to the roomy rear seat. Behind
the rear seat was luggage space, provided by adding a pleasing “bustle” to the
car’s rear contour. Introduced in
November 1930, it had a visor-less slanted windshield and a lowered steering
column, similar to that in the Deluxe Phaeton. These cars were available in two
roof styles, with steel rear quarters or with a full padded fabric cover. Just 6,447 Vicky’s were built in the final days
of 1930, compared to 33,906 in produced in 1931. This is an example of a limited production
1930 Vicky, it is all Henry Ford steel except for the front half fenders,
powered by a 350 V8 and teamed up with a turbo 3 speed automatic
transmission. The restoration was done
in the early 90’s, driven to car shows and weekend cruises. There is NO rust and NO rust repair, power disc front brakes, up graded CD,
two-tone paint, old school wide White walls, 40’s hub caps with correct trim
rings and more. This Vicky drives GREAT,
dependable, rare and a true investment. #A43872. Now On display at the home of “over the top

Top Gear pits Hennessey VelociRaptor vs. Range Rover Sport SVR
Fri, Jun 5 2015As a television series, Top Gear is in limbo with an intent to return, but no hosts yet. However, it's magazine and website continue to bring us clips like this one. While the video might lack the show's charismatic hosts, this is an opportunity to see a drag race between a Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR with 550 horsepower and a Hennessey VelociRaptor with 623 hp. The duel between these two supercharged V8s definitely sounds great. Both rugged models start at the line growling angrily at each other like dogs ready for a fight. You have to watch the clip to see whether the more powerful VelociRaptor feeds on the SVR, though. New car market raining on convertibles' parade
Mon, 08 Jul 2013Whether fitted with soft or hard folding lids, today's droptops are better than ever for year-round motoring. Advancements in power top mechanisms, sealing, aerodynamics, structural rigidity, rollover safety and creature comforts like heated and cooled seats mean that modern convertibles are more versatile and better to drive than ever before. Yet the segment's sales took a dive during the recession and haven't come back, Automotive News reports.
Part of that is because automakers are looking at today's more sensible buyers and simply not developing as many new models, and that lack of fresh iron is curbing sales. AN cites R.L. Polk data which notes that only about one percent of new vehicles registered in the US last year had tops that folded. Back in 2009, it was 1.4 percent, and it was 2 percent in 2006. All-in, some 151,636 convertibles were registered in 2012. That's more units more than were registered in each of the past three years, but the market has also grown as the economy has picked up speed, and as a percentage of new vehicles purchased, convertible sales are lagging.
Thus far in 2013, the Ford Mustang is America's top-selling convertible, with 6,421 units registered through the end of April, followed by its rival, the Chevrolet Camaro, at 4,751 units. The Volkswagen Beetle isn't far behind, with 4,305, but from that point, it's a steep drop off to the fourth-place Mercedes-Benz SL-Class and its 2,380 sales.
Ford nets $5.7B in 2012, $1.6B in fourth quarter
Tue, 29 Jan 2013Ford brought in $5.7 billion in net income during 2012, which is around $307 million less than one year prior. Even so, the automaker closed out 2012 with the highest pre-tax profit for a single quarter in nearly 10 years, earning $1.7 billion in the fourth quarter thanks largely to a higher-than-average truck mix in the US. That's a jump of $577 million over 2011. Likewise, that translated into fourth quarter income of $1.6 billion. All told, Ford set a full-year pre-tax profit record in 2012. But that doesn't necessarily mean everything is rosy in the land of the Blue Oval.
Like every other manufacturer, 2012 saw Ford get hammered in the European Union, where a deep economic recession continues to drive down consumer confidence. The automaker lost more than $700 million in Europe, and saw full revenue of $26.6 billion in 2012. That's a decline of $7.2 billion compared to last yea. Ford says the market for new vehicles in Europe has contracted to 13.5 million units, the lowest number in 17 years. You can read the full press release below for more information.
