Ford Model A (shay) on 2040-cars

US $15,500.00
Year:1979 Mileage:2500
Location:

Sandy, Utah, United States

Sandy, Utah, United States

The Shays were built with brand new Ford Pinto Running Gear (from 1979) and sold throughout the USA by Ford dealers.   I bought my 1979 Super Deluxe Shay approximately 15-years ago, when it had about 2400 miles on the odometer, but I only drove it a few hundred miles since I own it.  I updated the dash and added new gauges (see pictures)   It has an automatic transmission and the Pinto 2.4 engine. Changes I have done are:

 A. New upholstered canopy.

 B. Custom Bucket Seats and carpet (Only someone under 5’-2” can sit in the original seats – I’m 6’-2”)

C. For safeguard I replaced seals in Transmission, replaced engines seals, valve cover gasket, and timing belt, hoses.

D. Replaced shocks and corrected the vertical adjustment. (Needed on all Shays)

E. Replaced Wheels with the modern powder coated wheels and new tires.

F. Added custom all wood Trunk.  (It still has the original trunk).

G. Laser etched wing windows.

H. MP3 – CD player.

I. Build-in Tool Box w/ jack under the rumble seat.

J. New paint job last year.

L. New muffler and catalytic converter.  It has no problem passing safety and emissions test.  It runs perfect.

M. Completely rewired the car with all new wiring.  Since it has a fiberglass body, almost all the Shays out there have electrical issues.  This car has absolutely no electrical problems.  Replaced battery this week.

N. New Steering Column, Steering Wheel and pedals.

O. Custom Dash and new gauges.

I hate to sell it, but I have added too much to my shop and don’t have room for it anymore.   Also, the Hallmark trailer can be included.  I have doubled the floor and ramp thickness w/ addition 3/4 plywood and epoxy paint.  I won’t sell the trailer separate unless I sell the car first.   Trailer additional $2,500.00

$500 due as purchase, balance by wire transfer or cash with 5-days.  Sorry no Cashiers or Personal Checks.  Sold AS-IS, however, you can look and we can go for a test drive it.

Ford, Ram in heavy-duty towing spat

Mon, 28 Jul 2014

Every pickup truck commercial has the brand trying to convince us that its model is the biggest, brawniest vehicle on the block. But Ford and Ram appear ready to really throw down the gauntlet and scrap over the towing figures for their heavy-duty models, and it could potentially end up in court.
The issue revolves around what it means to be best in class. Ford claims that its 2015 F-450 (pictured above) has a max tow rating of 31,200 pounds, compared to 30,000 pounds for the Ram 3500 (right). However, both companies market these heavy haulers as having the top towing in their class. According to Automotive News, Ford is threatening legal action if Ram doesn't back down.
The situation isn't as simple as just comparing the numbers, though. First, the two companies calculate their towing capacities differently. Ram adheres to the SAE J2807 rating, while Ford uses its own internal system. Although, as the company introduces new models, they are certified using the SAE standard. "When an all-new F-Series Super Duty is introduced, it also will use SAE J2807," said Ford to Autoblog in an emailed statement.

eBay Find of the Day: 25-station video gaming trailer w/ bonus Ford F-250

Fri, Nov 28 2014

Why, you might be asking yourself, is Autoblog showing me an eBay Motors listing for a 2006 Ford F-250 and a box trailer (with a badly cropped photo to boot)? It's not because we're highly interested in this blue-collar rig, to be sure, but rather because we're interested in throwing the greatest Forza party of all time. Housed in that innocuous white 26-foot trailer is a gamer's delight, with 25 Xbox 360 systems connected up to 25 high-definition monitors and 24 headsets to keep everyone locked into the action (one of the stations is outside the trailer). When connected up to one of two included generators, the setup allows for two-dozen combatants to square off, back-to-back and head-to-head. Sure, the Buy It Now price of $79,000 seems steep considering the trailer will need about ten grand worth of Xbox One or Playstation 4 upgrades in the near future. But that doesn't mean you couldn't squeeze out a few more years of massive multiplayer fun. Check out the listing here, and do let us know if you buy it, we'd love to come over and game. Ford, Samsung shack up to bring regen braking to non-hybrid models [w/video]

Mon, 09 Jun 2014

Ford must be desperate to get itself ready for the beach this summer because it is really trying to get into shape. Shortly after unveiling the Lightweight Concept that cut the weight of a Fusion down to that of a Fiesta, it's now the rest of the line's turn for improvement. The company is wrapping up a 10-year research project aimed at developing next-gen automotive batteries to improve efficiency.
Ford claims that 70 percent of its lineup will have stop/start tech by 2017. The key to this massive proliferation is its new dual-battery system that combines a lithium-ion battery with a lead-acid one and regenerative braking. The setup works by harvesting braking energy and converting it to electricity. When the vehicle stops, the engine shuts off, but the Li-ion battery has enough juice to keep the accessories running. The engine starts up again as drivers take their foot off the brake. The layout would mean less wasted gas while idling. It's already available on Ford hybrids and is somewhat similar to the i-Eloop capacitor-based system from Mazda.
The bigger challenge is tuning the regenerative braking right. While hybrid drivers may be a little more adventurous, when it comes to getting a hang of regen braking, conventional buyers might not be so open-minded. The systems have a tendency to be a little grabby at first and then taper off at very low speeds. Ford needs to make sure it's just right to avoid turning off buyers.
