1930 Hot Rod Ford Model A Street Rod Rat Rod on 2040-cars

For Sale is an extremely well done, just finished 1930 Model A rat rod style street rod.  It is a real steel 1930 Ford body on a fully boxed custom frame.  The body has a 5" chopped top and gorgeous copper pearl metallic paint with several coats of flat clear along with black stripping and a tan vinyl top.     It was built with heat and ice cold A/C (vintage air system).   It has power windows that are key fob operated remote control because the doors have shaved handles on the outside. All window glass on the car is factory bronze tinted which matches the color of the car better.  Car also has tilt steering column, a stereo/dvd player with four speakers and all new gauges.  Working front and rear turn signals with the front signals built into the headlights.  The interior was just finished using tan/beige leather and brown ostrich inserts in dash and seats, along with embroidered hot rod emblems, reclining bucket seats with adjustable lumbar support.  One of the coolest features of this build, is the full 5" chop giving it that perfect look, but we dropped the entire floor pan a full 2" to make it more practical for an everyday driver.  This was accomplished without a transmission hump so the interior has a full flat floor to give it a lot more room.  The rear seats can fit actual size human beings (teens) so it is truly a four passenger vehicle. The front seats have seat belts and the rear seats have 4 point harnesses for the safety of the kids.  It also has a full length custom made ceiling console with LED lighting and under dash lighting to match.     The entire car was built with safety in mind since I would be taking the kids with me to car shows.  It has four-wheel disc brakes. A complete Pete and Jakes four bar front end kit with a steering dampener.  The rear was custom fabricated at a racing/chassis shop.  It is a triangulated four link set up with heavy duty supports for rock solid stability.  It has fully adjustable billet alloy coil over shocks (11 position dampening adjustment so you can select your ride preference) with 300lb springs.  They also fabricated a rear sway bar.  All this chassis work lets the car handle and keeps it extremely flat and controlled while cornering.  The whole point of the build was to be able to actually drive the car to the shows, from the back roads to the interstate.  I have been in too many slapped together shoddy fabricated rods that were scary to drive not to mention not being built safe enough to put my kids in the back seat.   The engine is a rebuilt 318 Chrysler out of a truck with a mild cam, mated to a 727 tranny with an Edelbrock 4-bbl carb.  The engine runs great with no issues.  It has plenty of torque and the transmission shifts smooth and crisp using a B&M ratchet shifter.  It has a full custom set of twin lake style side pipes. The rear end is a Ford 8" with 2.93 gears so you can cruise the interstate at speed.     There are tons of details on the car like the flush mount Harley Davidson fuel cap that pops out connected to an aluminum fuel cell.  I'm sure I'm leaving out a lot more, but I can take detailed pics of what ever you want.  Like I said, this has just recently been completed and is ultra clean from top to bottom and brand new underneath.  The car is a blast to drive and gets tons of attention where ever it goes.  Car has 650 miles on it since completion, have tons of receipts, part numbers and parts info   The car is offered for sale at $25,000.00 OBO.  I can be reached at 919-451-7680

The tires hide the spots completely, but wanted to say it was there.  The rubbing occurred when I first had the over-sized rear tires on it. Once the sway bar was added, it completely eliminated body roll and no further rubbing occurred.  I have since put on different tires and have had no problems since.

Ford Shelby GT350R, GT successor, F-150 Raptor and more rumored for Detroit debut

Mon, Dec 1 2014

According to a pair of reports from Hearst's car mags, Car and Driver and Road & Track, Ford has a whole mess of good stuff on deck for the Detroit Auto Show in January. And it all sounds awesome. First, expect to see a hotter version of the Shelby GT350 in Detroit, likely called GT350R. Think of this as the already-hot Shelby with even more track-focused bits baked in – brakes, tires, aero, etc. Everything about the GT350 sounds great, so expect this R variant to be something seriously fierce. As R&T suggests, if the GT350 is the company's new Boss 302, the R is the Laguna Seca. But that's not even close to the biggest news. Road & Track believes a proper Ford GT replacement will debut in Detroit – a road-going version of the Le Mans GTE-class car the Blue Oval is working on for 2016. We've heard about this before, but having the street-legal car debut in Detroit would be absolutely huge news. The performance story continues, though, with R&T suggesting that the next-gen Ford F-150 Raptor will bow in Detroit. Details are scarce about what, exactly, the aluminum-bodied desert stormer will hold, but we expect good things. Finally, Ford's hot hatches might make some news in the Motor City, too. Car and Driver seems to think the all-wheel-drive Focus RS will bow in The D, and that an updated version of the Fiesta ST will also show its face. Road & Track, meanwhile, believes the Focus RS showing will be saved for a European auto show – think Geneva – and our gut feeling is to agree with the R&T theory. All of these rumors point to Ford officially announcing its dedicated performance division – like Mercedes-AMG, BMW M, and so on. We've heard reports of a new, global performance brand from the company already, with the name 999 thrown out as a possibility. In any case, if these rumblings prove to be true, there's going to be a ton to drool over from Ford in January. Stay tuned.

Ford nets $5.7B in 2012, $1.6B in fourth quarter

Tue, 29 Jan 2013

Ford brought in $5.7 billion in net income during 2012, which is around $307 million less than one year prior. Even so, the automaker closed out 2012 with the highest pre-tax profit for a single quarter in nearly 10 years, earning $1.7 billion in the fourth quarter thanks largely to a higher-than-average truck mix in the US. That's a jump of $577 million over 2011. Likewise, that translated into fourth quarter income of $1.6 billion. All told, Ford set a full-year pre-tax profit record in 2012. But that doesn't necessarily mean everything is rosy in the land of the Blue Oval.
Like every other manufacturer, 2012 saw Ford get hammered in the European Union, where a deep economic recession continues to drive down consumer confidence. The automaker lost more than $700 million in Europe, and saw full revenue of $26.6 billion in 2012. That's a decline of $7.2 billion compared to last yea. Ford says the market for new vehicles in Europe has contracted to 13.5 million units, the lowest number in 17 years. You can read the full press release below for more information.

Aussie Ford Falcon GT shows its rear end to Lamborghini Gallardo

Sun, 27 Apr 2014

When Ford Australia announces, as it did recently, that it wants to celebrate the end of its Ford Performance Vehicle division with a Falcon FPV GT-F that celebrates big-bore origins of the nameplate, it's talking about the kind of car in this video.
At some point the classic Falcon GT - said to be an XY series - was invited to a test of acceleration against a Lamborghini Gallardo. At the very least, the Falcon GT had a 351 cubic-inch motor and 300 horsepower, but whatever this guy's got under the hood of his yellow sedan makes has him so confident that he doesn't even move his elbow from its resting place on the door.
You'll find a reminder of Ford Australia's heyday, a raucous exhaust note and some NSFW language in the short video below.
