Ok, I've got a 1928-1931 ford truck rat rod project.  There is no title because I havent gotten that far.  The cab, frame, and bed were built by a Heath at New Metal Kustoms in Kentucky.  The motor is a 1950's ford 223ci straight six along with a matching three speed trans from the same vehicle that the motor is from.  I personally have dissassembled and fully checked the internals.  The internals of the motor have been magnafluxed and all is great with the motor. I do not have a yoke for the trans but do have a drive shaft to fit the crown vic rear end. The front axle is from a 1930 ford model a, front brakes are from a 1955 ford f100 with new bearings and seals. The spindles are from a 1938 ford truck. I have split the wish bones and welded in new bungs and threaded heim joints.  The split wish bones are from a 1938 ford truck. The motor mounts are made by myself and are tacked in quite well. There is no trans mount made yet.  Transmission shift into all gears with the new Mr. Gasket three speed shifter. I have two steering wheels and shafts that go with the truck. One is from the same 1938 ford truck, and the other is from a Jeep that I found in the junk yard. I also have the dash from the old jeep that's been cut down.  Speedo guage is still in the dash from the jeep.  It gives that vintage feel having the large speedo. There is a front grill from a 1929 ford that I was going to use to hold the radiator and also goes with the truck. The rear end is from a crown vic and the emergency cables are still attached. The truck has no interior. The wheels and tires are original to a 50's merc and are 16x4 with a 3.5 inch white wall.  Ive got two vega steering boxes to go with the project. I've got bolts holding on the front axle but it will need the correct perches to be installed. The cab is a slant roof with speed holes cut in the visor. Mini Bear Claw latches are installed for the doors to lock shut. The gas tank is an spun aluminum 15 galon tank that is mounted in the rear of the truck.  I wish that I had time to finish but that isnt the case.  If you have questions or requests for additional pic's just let me know.

Consumer Reports explains its disdain for infotainment

Thu, 20 Mar 2014

One of the perks of reviewing all manner of cars and trucks is that we're exposed to all the different infotainment systems. Whether Cadillac's CUE, Chrysler's UConnect, BMW's iDrive or MyFord Touch, we sample each and every infotainment system on the market.
Not surprisingly, some are better than others. It seems consumers have come to a similar consensus, with Consumer Reports claiming that Ford and Lincoln, Cadillac and Honda offer the worst user infotainment experiences. Not surprisingly, you won't find much argument among the Autoblog staff.
Take a look below to see just what it is about the latest batch of infotainment systems that grinds CR's gears. After that, scroll down into Comments and let us know if you agree with the mag's views.

2015 Ford Mustang option prices gallop onto the web

Tue, 22 Apr 2014

The 2015 Ford Mustang is one of the most anticipated cars of the year, despite the fact that production hasn't yet begun. What's a pony car fan to do? It turns out that Ford already has pricing and options information about the vehicle in its dealer ordering system. A few enterprising folks have snapped some pictures from it and have posted them online. You might not be able to drive your car yet, but you can at least see what it might cost.
At the moment, Ford appears to be splitting the Mustang into five models - 3.7-liter V6, 2.3-liter EcoBoost, GT with the 5.0-liter V8, 50th Anniversary and SVT. There are 10 available paint colors, 2 of which require an extra outlay. Triple Yellow is $495, and Ruby Red Tint is $395. Regardless of model, navigation goes for $795, and reverse parking assist is $295.
For both the EcoBoost and GT, the six-speed automatic tacks an extra $1,195 to the sticker, and adaptive cruise control is the same price. The GT also has a limited-slip 3.55 rear end for $395 and a GT Performance package for $2,495. Recaro leather seats add an extra $1,595. For the EcoBoost, there's something called EcoBoost Performance package for $1,995. The system doesn't say what the packages include.

What an Atlas-based Ford F-150 might look like

Thu, 27 Jun 2013

Just ahead of January's Detroit Auto Show, surprising rumors pegged Ford as revealing some sort of F-150 concept, perhaps as a hurried effort to deflate some of the buzz building around General Motors' new Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra twins, which were also making their auto show debut. Those rumblings turned out to be true, as Ford rolled into the Motor City with its Atlas concept (inset, right), touting the truck's bold styling as a precursor to the next-generation F-Series.
The show truck featured all kinds of clever details, including active wheel shutters and a front air dam that raised and lowered to improve aerodynamics while preserving off-road ability. It also had a genuinely snarly face. And it's that pugnacious snout that may well be on its way to production. The good folks at TopSpeed have worked up the plausible-looking artist's rendering above by cross-referencing the Atlas concept with what little has been revealed from recent spy shots. The look is toned-down pretty dramatically from the concept truck, but its Atlas roots are clear, with a massive three-bar grille and bracket-shaped headlamps hiding a next-generation EcoBoost engine. In the rendering, the show truck's deeply contoured hood and roofline have been ditched and larger, more traditional side mirrors have been fitted - all likely concessions in the move to production sheetmetal.
While Ford has yet to officially announce when it will unveil the 2015 F-150, all signs point to next year's Detroit Auto Show - one year after the Atlas shrugged off GM's new pickups.
