1930 Ford Model A Old School Hot Rod 392 Hemi on 2040-cars

Year:1930 Mileage:0
Location:

OK you Hot Rod fans out there if you have the need for speed then this might be the cure!!! Up for auction is this beautiful traditional old skool street rod. It is a 1930 Ford Model A Coupe, all steel with the always popular 392 Chrysler Hemi. When I first saw this car I was thinking of Hot Wheels design features that incorporate coupe body's with big engines. Thats what this car reminds me of. A good friend of mine was friends with the prior owner so I was able to get some information and history on the car. To begin with the prior owner was affiliated with NHRA and was a drag racer for over 25 years. Unfortunately he had a couple of heart attacks and some other health issues that kept him from racing anymore. I believe he told me some depression had set in and in order to get him out of the house and get him going again, his wife suggested he buy a car, build it his way to take his mind off the situation. Sort of a therapy project. Well he heard about this original Model A that had been stored away for many years so he decided to buy it and begin the build. He purchased it 13 years ago. The car itself is original steel with paint that has been on it since the 50's. He took the car completely apart. He boxed and Z'd the frame, installed a 9 inch non posi Ford rear (273 gears for highway driving), 4 inch Dropped Front Axle with mid 70's Chevy Front Disc Brakes, QA1 Chrome Coil Over Shocks in the rear, Pan Hard Bar, Jegster Rear Suspension Bars, Chrome Front Hair Pins, ETC. The massive power plant is a 1957 CE code Chrysler 392 Hemi. It has a Hard Anodized 671 BDS 2 Blower with a Weiand Aluminum Intake with 2 650 Edelbrock Carbs mounted on top and a BDS Aluminum Finned Scoop. Transmission is a Chevy Turbo 400 with 2800 Cast Steel Stall Converter with Straight Cut Planetary Gears, 32 Sprague Unit, ETC. The motor was freshened up a while ago and runs real strong! It has 8:1 Pistons, Stock Cam, Lifters, Rods, Crank and new bearings. It has been bored 40. Over. It has a Flaming River Vega Steering Box. An Ididit Tilt Steering Column, Holley Electric Fuel Pump, Kwik Fuse Panel and Wiring Harness, Custom Built Fuel Tank in the trunk area where he also relocated the battery. Interior wise, it still has the original Model A seat but if you want to make it more modern it would really need to be done inside. Custom Gauge Cluster in the dash and they all work, Electric Fan for the radiator, Custom Reinforced Floors (nice job), B&M Style Floor Shifter with a real 8 Ball used as a shifter ball. Steering column is attached with a Chromed Hemi Connecting Rod. Brake pedal is from a Peter Built (how cool!). He made this car to drive and handle and thats just what it does. It is really comfortable to be in compared to some rods I have seen. Another nice feature is he didnt chop the roof so some body large like myself can fit in nicely. He has driven this to many shows over the years without any problems until last year the transmission started acting up. It is very positive in low gear and reverse but is not shifting up to second and third. I noticed the transmission fluid was a little low so I topped it off but didnt effect it. I was thinking it might even be the modulator valve. This transmission has a lot of performance parts so it really should be freshened up. No doubt about it, this car has attitude! We have a Maine transferable registration and all proper paperwork for a smooth transaction. If you have under 25 feedback please contact us prior to bidding. Ford adding stop-start to all major model lines

Sun, 24 Nov 2013

Ford has gone all-in on its efforts to offer most of its new vehicles with a fuel-efficient EcoBoost engine, but the automaker is reportedly preparing to take another big step toward improving vehicle efficiency. Automotive News is reporting that Ford will soon expand the availability of start-stop technology, which was first offered - presumably the first non-hybrid vehicle, that is - on the 2013 Fusion (equipped with the 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine) as a $295 option.
The benefit of start-stop is reduced fuel consumption as it shuts the engine off at long stops, and AN quotes Ford as saying that drivers can save more than $1,000 on fuel costs over five years. Despite this, the option hasn't been popular on the Fusion thus far, but it could be more beneficial on bigger vehicles like the F-150. Ford also said that the next-gen Edge, which was previewed in concept form at the LA Auto Show, will be equipped with auto start-stop to help make the EcoBoost engines even more efficient.

Editors' Picks February 2021 | Ford F-150, Genesis GV80, Mazda CX-30 and more

Wed, Mar 10 2021

If we’ve driven and reviewed it, thereÂ’s an Autoblog Rating for it. ItÂ’s been over two years since we launched a new rating system to help you evaluate cars at a glance. We tweaked and improved it along the way and quickly arrived at a consistent process for giving each and every car on sale today a fair score. Cars that are exemplary or stand out in their respective segments get EditorsÂ’ Pick status. Those are the ones weÂ’d recommend to our friends, family and anybody whoÂ’s curious and asks the question. Every car we rate gets a score from 1 to 10, making it easy for you to tell if itÂ’s a car worth pursuing and possibly purchasing. YouÂ’ll find the scores of previously-rated cars attached toward the top of our written reviews. For example, the Bronco SportÂ’s rating can be found here. The Acura TLXÂ’s rating is in this post, and the Nissan RogueÂ’s rating is right here. There are hundreds of examples to be found. The above examples make up the most natural ways to find the Autoblog rating when researching for your next car, but starting today, weÂ’re going to begin calling out each new set of Editors' Picks per month in their own breakout stories. This will put the newest and most recently refreshed cars on sale on a pedestal for you to see which ones are worth your while. WeÂ’ll typically rate anywhere between 5-10 new cars per month, so you can count on just a select few from those to make this list. Expect to see this recurring ratings post each month going forward, and read on for FebruaryÂ’s EditorsÂ’ Picks.   2021 Genesis GV80 2021 Genesis GV80 View 18 Photos Quick take: The stylish GV80 offers useful safety features, compelling design and sporty dynamics to push it near the top of the segment. Genesis takes risks with this aggressive crossover, and the result is a luxurious vehicle that is rewarding to drive. Score: 8.5 What it competes with: Lincoln Aviator, Volvo XC90, BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class, Acura MDX, Lexus RX Pros: Beautiful design, good road manners, awesome value Cons: Small third row and cargo space, less comfortable standard suspension  From the editors: Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore — “The GV80 is a hugely important vehicle for Genesis. It makes a style statement, has an elegant interior and is a compelling all-round execution. It looks like a Bentley, and I give Genesis props for taking some risks with the GV80 and largely pulling it all off.

Watch this Ford F-150 SVT Raptor fly like an eagle [UPDATE]

Mon, 04 Feb 2013

The Ford F-150 SVT Raptor is a very capable truck right out of the box, but "capable" has never translated into "invincible." Just ask the owner of the machine in this video. In it, the driver gets frisky with an aggressive jump with plenty of speed on his hands. The result is enough air to make Vaughn Gittin Jr. blush. As always, it's not the launch that's painful, but the re-entry. Gravity eventually asserts its dominance over the $43,630 pickup in a big way, and when it comes crashing down, it does so with a vengeance.
The impact was hard enough to set off both the alarm and multiple airbags inside the cabin. It's unclear if anyone was injured in the stunt, but we certainly wouldn't be surprised to hear that was the case. You can check out the stunt in the video below, and remember, when in doubt, back out of the throttle. Be warned, there may be some explicit/NSFW language in the clip.
UPDATE: Second video added with an even better look at the jump added below.
