1930 Ford Model A Coupe, Michigan Titled, Dismantled With Spare Sheet Metal on 2040-cars
Clinton Township, Michigan, United States
This is a FORD MODEL A COUPE with a 1930 Michigan title being offered for sale, one which is currently dismantlefd and stored in southeast Michigan (48036 zip, a half-hour from I-75, minutes from I-94). This collection has been in storage for many years now. It was purchased for my family as a project and never worked on. This sale amounts to a very large collection of parts, one which includes numerous spares - both sheet metal and mechanical. As you may know, these Model A bodies completely come apart with simple stove bolts holding them together at the flanges/body seams. This body is known as a "Murray" based on the slightly curved shape of the door tops. The photos will show the basis of this sale, but included is the frame in very good condition, the subframe in acceptable condition, with repairs made at some point. Interior metal body support stampings in excellent condition, and wood in near-perfect condition other than some pieces which ran to the floor and picked up moisture to their lower regions. These will need to be restored or replaced The sheet metal of the main body shell was stripped, the bodywork done professionaly in lead, and the interior of these major panels primed. The exterior was left as shown in the photos, with some panels picking up surface corrosion over time. The original fenders appear to be "right off the farm", with some corrosion and amateur repair evident (cracks welded with an arc welder...). Two replacement front fenders were acquired and are included, these having been found with professional lead repair and excellent finishing. One of the rear fenders was "restored", and nothing is known about the work completed beneath the primer paint. The interior window trim metal stampings for the rear and corner windows are evident - these necesary to keep these fixed windows in place. All hinges and door/window mechanisms appear to be in evidence, as are both the interior and exterior door handles/cranks. The chrome is excellent on these small parts. All related seat springs, metal stampings and wood appear to be evident. Multiple steering columns/boxes are evident, as is a steering wheel. The steel floor stampings are original and in excellent condition, or new and possibly factory N.O.S., given the quality. There are multiple and spare hood panels, all excellent. There are multiple and spare running boards in very good to excellent condition - some from other possible years of early Fords. There are two engine blocks of undetermined condition (probably good to excellent, given the rest of the collection..), three undetermined crankshafts with surface rust, two camshafts, an excellent cylinder head, rods and pistons, a new and possibly factory N.O.S. oil pan, intake and exhaust components, a new factory-quality exhaust system - complete. The transmission is either from a restored vehicle or was restored and painted for this project. The rear end is the same, and is currently dismantled. There is a rebuilt radiator included. The bellhousing/pedals have been restored/painted. Brake hubs, backing plates and brake hardware appears to be in evidence - new or restored all. There are new brake linings. The front axle appears to be a restored assembly, and was final painted. There's some surface rust evident today. There are 5 wire wheels in very good to excellent condition, they have 5 N.O.S. Allstate tires mounted on them, one of which has never been on the ground, the other 4 with the original tooling marks/"nibs" evident on the rubber treads. -Less than one parade's use on the set it would appear. This may have been a rumble seat vehicle, with rear step pads evident and in excellent condition, but with no recent sightings of the seat hinges in the collection. -I haven't seen the special hinges lately. There is a complete set of new window glass, its having been custom made by a local Detroit-area OEM supplier. It appears to be an antique green tint (as was all glass back then, apparently). It is stil in its unopened and original wrapping There are bumpers - all very good and useable, not bent. There are multiple and spare bumper brackets, some restored and in primer. There are restored and excellent running board brackets. The fuel tank is original/perfect. And on the list goes, as we get to the small parts sitting in boxes and on the shelf. May I say that I am not an expert on these early Fords, I have never worked on one myself. I just purchased this collection as it is shown here today, doing so many years ago when my family was young. They're grown today and have less time to devote to such a project than ever. For this reason the collection is being sold as is. I WILL NOT PART OUT THIS COLLECTION. I am pricing it such that it is a better bargain to purchase it whole than to just purchase the sheet metal. Many of the parts included are necesaary to build any version of these vehicles - even a hot rod. My price is based on recent ebay sales - of simple Model A Coupe main body shells. One such vehicle recently sold for $4500, it appearing in the ad in primer and with the doors shut - sitting on a concrete floor. There was no mention of the inner bracing or the subframe - or inner sheet metal such as window mouldings. Also no door or window mechanisms were mentioned, and these can become expensive when added all together in a car build project. And if you buy a car in primer - what kind of bodywork was done? I guess you find out when it arrives. As for moving this collection - this is a "Local Pick Up Only". I'm sorry, but I lack the ability to assemble or to deliver this collection. It can be found well north of the Detroit border in a very safe neighborhood, one half hour from I-75, minutes from I-94, in zip code 48036. You'll need a large trailer and significant padding - and the ability to load your own shipment. My price is $5,800 for everything you see and more, everything on the shelf and in more boxes as pertain to this vehicle. If you want to purchase it, do so and it is yours - the merchandise to be held until you can come and pick it up. You should plan on doing so before the weather turns for the worse here in Michigan, though. Please understand - I'm not able to store the collection for any lengthy time period pertaining to this sale. If you want to see the collection prior to making a commitment - then get in touch with me if you are serious. I can't possibly show this offering to everyoe who only has a vague interest, though. Only serious buyers please. Show me the money and the door will swing open, like back in the days when this old flyer was built here in Detroit, and built so very well that it's still here and solid to this day. What a history, what tales this old car could tell - if only. Speaking of Detroit, these days the local banking system doesn't even accept checks from their own institutions, they place "holds" on everything. Any means of payment must clear my bank before I will release the collection. Best of luck to you all in your search for such a vehicle. I honestly think this collection is worthy of attention, given the scarcity of good sheet metal today. RRRUSTYRON |

2015 Ford Mustang gets pricing, configurator and less weight than expected
Fri, 13 Jun 2014It's here; it's finally here. No more speculating or looking at dealer order guides, the configurator for the 2015 Ford Mustang is finally online. That means you should put down whatever you're doing and build your new 'Stang. Weight data for the new model has also leaked out, and while there is an increase, it's less than previously rumored.
The basic V6 coupe carries a base price of $23,600, plus an additional $825 destination charge for all models. Upgrading to the 2.3-liter Ecoboost costs $25,170, and the Ecoboost Premium is $29,170. If you need a V8 in your life, the Mustang GT is $32,100 or $36,100 with the Premium package. That puts the starting price up about $1,000 over the previous generation for the V6, but the turbocharged four-cylinder starts about $1,400 less than the V6 Premium, which is no longer available. Prices for both V8 models jumped about $1,000, as well.
If you need the convertible Mustang, the V6 starts at $29,100, excluding destination, $1,590 more than last year. The Ecoboost Premium 'vert is $34,670, and the GT droptop is $41,600.
Do you guys like trucks?
Wed, Jan 17 2018Do you guys like trucks? If the answer is yes, boy do we have the show for you! The 2018 North American International Auto Show is lousy with 'em. Yeah, we saw the new Ram 1500, Chevy Silverado and Ford Ranger, but that's just scratching the surface. There are big trucks, little trucks, clean trucks, dirty trucks, old trucks, new trucks, red trucks, blue trucks. It's like a Dr. Seuss book. Anyway, we made a little video for you truck nuts (see what I did there?). Check it out above, and if you're looking for more serious coverage of the Detroit Auto Show, we've got it, along with a ton of images and other videos from the show floor. Enjoy! Detroit's new fleet of donated police cars have safety issues [w/video]
Wed, 23 Oct 2013In a show of generosity in mid-August, Detroit's business leaders donated $8 million to the Police Department and Fire Department in order to buy 100 new police vehicles and 23 EMS ambulances. But now officers have discovered - and complained - that the police vehicles have glaring safety issues, Deadline Detroit reports. It is not made clear what models of the fleet vehicles - which include police versions of the Ford Taurus, the Chevrolet Caprice and the Dodge Charger - are affected by the safety issues.
Officers reportedly have complained that the Plexiglass partition separating front-seat officers and back-seat prisoners is easily breached, and that the front passenger seat is installed too close to the dashboard. Prisoners who manage to writhe out of their handcuffs can bend the Plexiglass and reach into the cockpit, and sitting too close to the dashboard can render airbags more dangerous and make officers more vulnerable to injury in a crash.
Mark Diaz, president of the Detroit Police Officers Association, received the complaints and reportedly said the vehicles would get safety updates addressing the issues. But Deadline Detroit reports that it checked some of the offending police cars and, as of the last few days, they hadn't been updated.
