This is an original steel 1929 Ford Tudor Sedan that has been chopped 6" & channeled 4" over an original modified Model A frame.  The frame was swept up in the front & kicked up in the rear.  Front of frame is original, with a Model A VIN that matches the open title!  Frame is boxed & with an aftermarket dropped Model A front crossmember, rear of the frame is 2"x 4" box tubing with custom made rear crossmember.  Center K member is custom built which includes the Pete & Jake's ladder bar crossmember.  Steering is an original F1 steering box & pitman arm.  All rust was removed or treated with Eastwood Rust Encapsulator.  The front lower cowl panels were replaced, as well as the lower door skins.  Patches were used on the quarters.  All body work & paint were done with quality products!  Paint, sealer & primer were all PPG.  Body was taken down to metal & coated with a combo of Eastwood Rust encapsulator & DP 90.  Primer was PPG DP74 & paint was PPG Deltron.  The color was "Semi Gloss" cleared with PPG Flexed N Flat & PPG DCU 2021 Clear Coat.  I have leftovers that can all go with with the car.

The engine is a freshly rebuilt 1950 8ba flathead with Offenhauser heads, Mallory dual point distributor, Edelbrock intake with 3 Holley 94's set up with progressive linkage.  Carburetors are freshly rebuilt including new oversized throttle shafts fitted to the bases, 12 degree secondary blades, power valve block offs in the outer carbs, new gaskets, etc.  Headers are fully tig welded Lakes Style headers.  There is no other exhaust on the car. I replaced the stock water pumps with new Speedway water pumps about 8 months ago because one of the originals began to leak.  The radiator is a custom built 3 row aluminum radiator (painted black to hide it's non-traditional feel) that is cooled by an electric fan (only other non-traditional item on the car) mounted under the '34 Ford Truck grille shell.  Unknown amount of chop on the grille shell because it was already chopped when I bought it.  Transmission is a 1950 ford 3 Speed that works flawlessly!  The shifter is an old Hurst shifter, with modified handle for space & convenience.

Front suspension is a 4" Superbell dropped axle with Superbell spindles and Pete & Jake's dropped steering arms hung out front from original split wishbones.  It has a super quiet Posie's Superslider front spring with chrome shocks hung from F1 shock mounts.  Rear suspension is Pete & Jake's ladder bars holding a very nice '47 Ford Truck rear, open drive banjo axle with 3.78's, Chrome shocks & a Posie's Superslider '40 Ford spring.  Original Ford 16" steelies are wrapped with Firestone Deluxe Champion 6.00's up front & 7.00's out back.

Wiring is a Rebel wiring harness, all soldered & shrink wrapped & covered with asphalt loom to keep with the traditional feel of the car!  Head lights are original Model A with 12V bulbs mounted with SoCal Speed Shop stainless headlight mounts.  Tail lights are '59 Cadillac bullets tastefully Frenched into the body.

Fuel system consists of an 11 gallon fuel cell that feeds a Carter electric fuel pump, set up with all necessary relays/wiring & regulated by a Holley fuel pressure regulator mounted where the factory fuel pump is located on the flathead.  A 3 port fuel log feeds the 3 Holley's.

Please feel free to contact me about any other questions.  I will assist in shipping the car anywhere, but it will be the buyer's responsibility to arrange shipping.  Any serious buyers are welcome to come see the car in person before auction end.

I have a video posted on Youtube of the engine running, but I do not know how to attach it here.  Email me and I can send you the link!

I wanted to also mention that the windshield frame is an aftermarket aluminum windshield frame, with no rot or rust!  Glass is new tempered safety glass!

I added a few pictures of the interior, engine, rear & pedal shots.  I have pictures of the inside of the engine when I had the intake & carbs off.  Email me, and I will send those & pictures of the carbs, if desired.

Thanks for bidding!

I also forgot to mention that the transmission tunnels (2 pieces) are designed to be easily unbolted from the top.  The seats bolt to them (4 bolts each, all bolted to welded in bungs = easy removal!), so they have to be removed first, but the trans tunnels come out from the top in case one would need to get in there for maintenance, etc.  It opens up enough to actually pull the transmission from the top!

Ford patents a multi-touch version of its classic keypad

Fri, Sep 9 2016

For decades, Ford has offered a keypad on the doors of their cars that would allow owners access with the right code. Amazingly, the keypad has survived almost unchanged except for a recent touch button version. A new patent from the Blue Oval shows the keypad may get a big upgrade soon. The first big change is that it looks like the keypad may move to the key fob. Although it might be possible to have it on the car itself as well, the patent only seems to focus on the key fob. In addition, the fob will now be a multi-touch pad similar to that of modern smartphones. This will allow for more diverse code entries, according to the patent's description. Instead of just a simple number code, owners could enter a code that involves swipes and keystrokes, and even simultaneous keystrokes. For instance, you could enter a code that requires swiping from 1 to 3, followed by holding 2 and 4 to unlock the car. The patent also seems to indicate that this keypad would then display unlock functions and other functions on the fob after the correct code is entered, thus making it more than just a way to unlock the car. As for the practical implications of this keypad system update, it could provide an added layer of security. If someone steals your keys, they would have to also know your access code to get into the car. Whether this would also help make the key and car harder to hack would remain to be seen, though. Another possible benefit could be the prevention of accidental lock and alarm button presses, although that likely isn't a common issue. There could be potential downsides as well. If used as an extra layer of security, the legitimate owner would have to punch in their code on the fob to get in, which would render proximity key benefits relatively useless. Moving the keypad to the fob would also mean owners couldn't get into their cars without having the key with them. We don't have any clues as to when this could become a feature, but it doesn't seem like it would be difficult to implement, so it could show up in the next few years. Does the new 2015 Ford Mustang have a burnout control system?

Tue, 10 Dec 2013

Whether it's lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring or automatic emergency braking, most of the electronic systems we see emerging on new vehicles focus on safety. But there are some there just for enthusiasts. We're talking about systems like automatic throttle blipping for perfect downshifts, or launch control to get that textbook acceleration from a standstill. But the latest system could prove just the opposite of the latter.
Although it has given us most of the details, Ford is still keeping certain elements of its new Mustang secret. But emerging reports may have the skinny on one system which Ford is trying is darnedest to keep under its hat for the time being. That, according to unnamed sources cited by Motor Authority, is burnout control.
The system is reportedly designed to help novices execute the perfect smokey burnout - sort of like launch control, but specifically the opposite. The system could, according to elaborative speculation, lock the front brakes while spooling up the engine to optimal revolutions before dumping (or indicating the driver to do dump) the clutch. A cloud of tire smoke and a long pair of skid marks would then ensue.

Ford GT, Buick Avenir and Audi Q7 take 2015 EyesOn Design awards

Thu, Jan 15 2015

The annual EyesOn Design Awards at the Detroit Auto Show allows some of the greatest designers in the world to weigh in on the best production and concept debuts at the big event each year. For 2015, the large panel of judges included luminaries like Frank Stephenson of McLaren, Ralph Gilles from FCA and Moray Callum of Ford. Apparently the editors at Autoblog had a good eye because the winner of 2015's Best Designed Production Vehicle award went to the Ford GT, which was also our favorite debut from the show. The new supercar beat the Acura NSX and Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class Coupe for the honor. The judges described the Blue Oval's shape as "capturing the original GT40 in a modern interpretation," according to EyesOn Design. The Buick Avenir was also a big winner in the awards this year and received the nods for both Best Designed Concept Vehicle and Innovative Use of Color, Graphics and Materials. In the concept category, it beat out the Chevrolet Bolt and Mercedes-Benz F 015, and in the latter group, the sedan triumphed over Audi Q7, Mercedes F 015 and Volkswagen Cross Coupe GTE. The Q7 received its own accolade for Best Designed Interior, and it beat the Avenir and Infiniti Q60 for the honor. This year's Lifetime Design Achievement Award went to former Renault designer Patrick le Quement, and Bob Lutz received the EyesOn Design Catalyst Award for the second time. The honor is for an executive "who has empowered great design," according to the organization, which describes Lutz perfectly. Scroll down to read the announcement with more comments about the winners.
