I have for sale a 1929 Model A Ford coupe. I inherited this Model A from my brother in the 90's. He had taken the car almost completely apart and had started to rebuild the engine when he passed away. It has been stored in a San Francisco garage ever since he purchased it back in the 80's. He had acquired the Model A from an individual in the North Bay of San Francisco. According to the assembly serial number the car was assembled in San Francisco. I had thought that when I retired I would start working on it. Well I am semi-retired now and realize that I have just too many other things I want to do and have decided to sell it. Unfortunately my brother did not label the parts and through the years they have gotten mixed up. I have spent several days trying to figure out where things are and where they go by looking through Model A parts catalogs. I have some knowledge on cars, but none on the Model A except for what I have seen in the catalogs. I have taken lots of pictures trying to group them in categories hoping that it would be easier to see what's there as well as the condition of the body and parts. Ebay only allows an upload of 24 pictures. I had taken at least 70. I have uploaded all the pictures to a web site so if you want to see them all send me your email and I will have them sent to you. I believe that I took all the parts pictures except for a box of nuts, bolts, washers, and other small items. If you have questions, feel free to contact me. The car is stored an hour from where I live and I don't go there every day. So it may take a couple of days to respond to your question if I have to drive to San Francisco to find an answer.

The following are parts that I know are missing...engine head, one front leaf spring, one shock, main drive gear bearing retainer, amperage gauge, throttle shaft, ignition switch, engine splash pan, amp gauge, and muffler.

Parts that I know of that are broken...pedal shaft, rear tire bracket, front fender brace, flywheel housing has a crack in it that has been welded also there seems to be a chunk of metal that was cut out of it, and rear bumper arm.

Parts that were bought new in the 80's, rebated connecting rods, adjustable lifters, values and value springs, crankshaft was worked on, cluster gear assembly, cluster shaft and bearings, oil pump assembly, water pump assembly, fly wheel gear, 6 rim liners, radiator (looks new, maybe rebuilt?, I assume it is the right one, it measures approximately 19 1/4 inches wide by 27 inches from the top of the filler to the bottom of the radiator. There is a tag on the radiator which reads, Bay Radiator Service #043097. There is a Bay Radiator Service in San Francisco.

There are six 30 spoke wheels that measure 2 1/2 inches wide from bead to bead and approximately 21 inches high from inside beads.

The assembly number which is on the front cross beam just in front of the front seat holder is SFA14559. This is the serial number that is on the Certificate of Title as the Vehicle ID number.

The serial number that is stamped on the frame just after the first body hole on the left side is partially readable due to rust and pitting. I know it is a star followed by A23349 then it looks like maybe a 4 and possibly another number with another star at the end.

It may not be evident on the photos, but the front of frame on left side is slightly bent in, right door crease/indentation on bottom, extra set of head lights different than what's on the leadlight bar, dent on bottom of left rear fender under license plate holder.

The body is just sitting on the frame. There are no bolts holding it together.

Payment... $250 deposit due within 3 days of close of auction; if not I reserve the right to relist the vehicle. The remainder is due within 7 days of close of auction. If payment is made by cashiers check or money order they will have to clear before the car can be removed. CAR AND ALL PARTS MUST BE REMOVED BY MARCH 18th otherwise a storage of fee of $50 a day will be required.

Now for some legal items....This 1929 Ford 2 door coupe is being sold as is, where there is no warranty expressed, written or implied. The seller shall not be responsible for the correct description, authenticity, genuiness or defects herein. Buyer is responsible for pickup or shipping of this vehicle and all its parts. Seller has done the best to describe this vehicle.

Thanks for looking and happy bidding.

Jurassic Park made a big impact on these Jeep drivers

Thu, 12 Jun 2014

For a certain cohort of young folks, Jurassic Park is a touchstone film from their childhood. Not only did it play into practically every little boy's love of dinosaurs, the movie included some great action scenes and special effects that still hold up today. In its latest video, The Aficionauto takes a look the Jurassic Park Motor Pool, a California car club with over 40 fans who created replica vehicles from the iconic film.
The club is made up of an interesting cross-section of people. Many of them were Jeep Wrangler fans that already loved off-roading and Jurassic Park, and liked the idea of bringing them together. Like any close-knit club, it ends up being about community and people coming together to share their interests. It's quite a heartwarming video. Also, be sure to stay until the end because The Aficionauto teases a future Jurassic Park-themed vehicle. Scroll down to check out the motor pool.

2015 Ford Mustang fuel economy ratings leaked

Thu, 21 Aug 2014

Thinking about buying a new Mustang, but want to know what kind of fuel economy it'll get? Well we have our first indication as the pony-car enthusiasts over at Mustang6G.com have gotten a hold of the Monroney window stickers for a few of the new 2015 Mustang models.
Although the V8 model is not among them, we can now see how the EPA has rated those models with a half dozen pistons or less. The Mustang EcoBoost with the turbo four and a manual transmission has been rated at 22 miles per gallon in the city and 31 on the highway. The V6 manual gets 17 city and 28 highway, while the V6 automatic squeezes out a bit more in the city at 19 mpg but carries the same 28 highway rating.
By way of comparison, the latest Chevy Camaro with the V6 and a stick shift gets the same 17/28 EPA rating as a similarly equipped new 'Stang, and the V6 automatic Camaro gets 18/27 (slightly behind the Ford, but if you opt for the Camaro 2LS with its V6, automatic and 2.92 rear axle ratio, you'll be looking at 19 and 30).

Ford cranks up '32 Ford body production

Tue, 14 Jan 2014

If you're going to build your own hot rod, you'll want to start with a '32 Ford 5-Window Coupe. Favored by American servicemen returning from World War II, the '32 Ford remains the very icon of the hot rod to this day. The trouble is there were only so many of them made in the first place, and finding one today can be a challenge. That's where reproduction models come in.
The aftermarket is replete with companies that will sell you a fiberglass body in the form of a '32 Ford coupe, but quality can be hit or miss. So to help meet demand among hot rod builders and enthusiasts, Ford has teamed up with United Pacific Industries to offer officially licensed body shells.
Announced at the SEMA show in November, the '32 Ford 5-Window Coupe body is made from stamped steel according to original specifications from original machinery where possible or reproduced machinery built to the same original specifications where necessary. The bodies are ready to accept vintage powertrains or crate motors from the Ford Racing catalog, and join the 9,000 other parts offered in the Ford Component Sales catalog - including similar reproduction bodies available for the 1965-70 Mustang and 1940 Ford Coupe. From there, the proverbial sky's the limit.
