1928 Model A Rat Rod on 2040-cars
Boynton Beach, Florida, United States
1928 Model A Rat Rod You are bidding on a genuine rusty Bad Ass rat rod. I am not the original builder of the car but have done a lot of work to it since it has been in my possession. The frame was done by Weld County Customs out of Colorado, it has a killer Z front and rear and the 5 window body has been chopped 6 inches and is faced with a nasty looking 1937 Hudson Terraplane grill. It gets down the road by way of a 1953 331 Hemi with a 3 speed 727 torqueflite tranny. The car is bagged in the rear with on board compressor and bomber air tank. It has an original Model T fat mans steering wheel with bomber seats wrapped in beautiful plush cow skin print. The speedo does not work but the fuel, volts, temp, and oil pressure gauges do work. I recently upgraded the points to an electronic conversion kit so now the car fires right up with no issues. The car runs great, is loud enough to wake the dead and gets so much attention everywhere I take it. I recently replaced the kingpins in the front axel and have upgraded many things since I got the car. It has Coker bias ply whitewalls with drums on all four corners, and the rear end is a GM 10 bolt. Some of the brand new parts on the care are as follows:
The car is solid, runs good and definitely has the authentic rat rod look, Im sure I am leaving some things out so if you have and questions feel free to ask, you can send me a message or call me @954-309-3910. I will require a $500 deposit within 24 hours of the auction close and the remaining balance within 7 days via cash or a bank wire. Buyer is responsible for shipping but I will be more than happy to help get the car loaded, thanks good luck and PLEASE don't bid unless you are completely serious |

How that awesome Mustang R/C car chase vid was made
Tue, 06 Aug 2013We've reported on a few R/C car chase videos in the past. One in particular that stands out as a favorite is Zach King's "The Cliché RC Action Chase." It featured a pair of Ford Mustang coupes racing through a cardboard city, plowing into outdoor patios and busting through construction zones. It was wonderfully creative and fun to watch, yet we know there was more to its creation than a bunch of guys fooling around with a camera one afternoon.
Turns out we were right, as evidenced by this video produced by Ford that takes us behind the scenes of Zach's creation. The young filmmaker explains why he chose the Mustang to star in his video, as well as how the cardboard sets were created, what equipment they used for shooting and what it was like when his video went viral. Ford found the young filmmaker and produced the followup as part of its Mustang Countdown video series, which will see a new video about the Mustang culture released every week until the original muscle car's anniversary on April 17, 2014.
Want to make an RC chase video of your own? Yeah, we do too. Watch the behind-the-scenes video below (you can refresh yourself on the mini feature film, too) before you get started.
Pickup sales may hit 2M units for first time since 2007
Sat, 21 Sep 2013Even as fuel prices creep back up, trucks are still a hot item among new-vehicle shoppers. To see how popular pickup trucks still are, you don't have to look any further than how much effort automakers put into the continual one-upmanship of their trucks. Backing this fact up, USA Today is reporting that the segment could top two million sales this year - a total not matched since 2007, though still far from the pre-recession, three-million-unit levels.
Through August, the Ford F-Series continues to be the segment leader with almost 500,000 units sold, but the Chevy Silverado (328,269), Ram 1500 (234,642), GMC Sierra (122,232) and Toyota Tacoma (110,293) are all seeing at least 20-percent sales increases, helping to account for around 1.44 million truck sales so far this year - not including possible outliers like the Suzuki Equator and Chevy Avalanche.
This year alone, General Motors has completely redesigned its fullsize trucks, Ram and Toyota have significantly updated their offerings, the next-gen Ford F-150 will be out next year and Nissan is promising an all-new Titan around the same time with an eventual Cummins diesel under the hood. It would seem, then, that truck sales are poised to continue their upward trend.
Ford to build Explorer in Russia to meet demand [w/video]
Fri, 12 Apr 2013The current Ford Explorer is sold in more than 64 countries, and this three-row vehicle continues to grow in popularity worldwide. To keep up with demand, Ford began producing the Explorer at Ford Sollers Elabuga Assembly Plant in Tatarstan, Russia, a joint venture facility. This partnership will build Russian-market Explorers only, and production of export vehicles not destined for Russian buyers will continue to be built at Ford's assembly plant in Chicago.
Before this plant went online, Ford would ship Explorers to Russia (and other regions around the world) as partially assembled knock-down units where final assembly would eventually take place. While there is no indication as to how many Explorers Ford Sollers will build for Russia, Ford did add that exports of the SUV were up 65 percent last year (from 2011) accounting for more than 24,000 units.
Scroll down for a press release about the Russian Explorer as well as a video (bad music and all) showing the SUV being produced in Tatarstan.
