This is a sweet 1928 Ford Model A
Sedan! The car has been driven
regularly over the past ten years and it really rips.
Spend less time cleaning, polishing and tinkering and more time
cruising.
This is as finished as a Rat Rod could
go without looking hokey and you won’t find another like. The paint is flat black with old school
scallops in white and outlined in red, finished off with beautiful pinstripes
laid down by Paul Straus and Ron Lasker.
The roof has been chopped 5 inches, all the wood has been replaced with
white oak and finished with a dark stain and sealer. The car comes with a removable waterproof
canvas top that can be buttoned on or off in a few minutes and secured in the
back with custom leather buckle down straps.
The front end sports a 1930 grill shroud with traditional BLC guide head
lights on each side. The rear tail
lights are 1939 Ford. The 1930 Chrysler side
door handles, vintage peep mirror and 50’s bumpers give the exterior just the
right amount of chrome to go faster.
The interior is finished in wood and
stainless steel, hidden under the deck lid is a 15 gallon fuel tank made by
Tanksinc. You might question the comfort
of the seats, but they’ve got just enough spring to them that they are comfortable
and look great. The red center console
is made up of 1967 Buick fenders flipped around and welded together. A fully chromed 1932 style dash is inlayed
with black Stewart Warner Wings gauges and one enormous vintage speedometer made
by Maring and Company.(Maring and Company was based out of LA and made high
speed speedo’s back in the day) The
other gauges consists of water temp, oil pressure, oil temp for engine oil, oil
temp for trans oil, air pressure(for air-ride) and volts. The 15 inch wood steering wheel is mounted to
a 60’s VW bus steering column and gear box with a quick release so it can be
removed for security purposes. The
Enfield rifle is not included in the sale of the vehicle, it currently is slid
over a shifter rod that protrudes approximately one foot out of the center
console, I would recommend if you want to maintain the look you could find a
stage gun for a few bucks on-line.
The drive train consists of a 1965 Chevy 327 that was fully rebuilt about 5,000 miles ago putting out approximately 375 hp and topped off with a 3x2 Offenhauser intake. The transmission is a 350 turbo automatic followed by a Chevy 12 bolt rear end with fresh 3.73 gears. The front suspension is a late 30’s strait axle and split wish bone set up suicide style with disc brakes. The rear consists of an old school hairpin radius rod set up sprung with adjustable coilovers and Chevy drum brakes. The wheels are reproduction artillery style wheels in a clear finish wrapped in reproduction Firestone tires.

Ford Focus 1.0-liter Ecoboost to only get manual trans in US
Sun, 23 Feb 2014Photos of the 2015 Ford Focus leaked earlier today, but now we're able to tell you more details of the global five-door hatchback. Bucking automaker's troubling trend of ditching manual transmissions in favor of automatics, Ford says the new 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine will come only in a six-speed manual in the US, because, well, American drivers aren't as sophisticated as our European brothers and sisters.
Ford didn't come out and say it that way, but it has found American drivers are more prone to complain about automatics in smaller-engine cars, Raj Nair, Ford's group vice president of global product development, said at a press conference last week. The recent JD Power Vehicle Dependability Study backs up Ford's claims, pointing out that drivers are complaining about rough transmission shifts, engine hesitation and lack of power, particularly in small cars. In Europe and other parts of the world, drivers seem to understand the quirks of these pint-sized engines, Nair said, so they'll have the option to buy an automatic. Ford is working on tuning its dual-clutch transmissions to make them more amenable to American driver's tastes.
Ford will show off the refreshed 2015 Focus at the Geneva Motor Show in early March. The car is due for an update, having been on sale in its current form since 2012. The automaker said it is jamming the car full of new technology - like a USB port that promises to charge your phone in half the time as a regular USB port. Features like Sync and a rear back-up camera will come standard. For a more in-depth look at the car, take a look at the full press release.
Ford faces class-action lawsuit for selling vehicles without brake override systems
Fri, 29 Mar 2013A total of 20 Ford customers are suing the automaker in a class-action lawsuit for selling vehicles "vulnerable to unintended acceleration." According to Reuters, the suit names 30 models built between 2002 and 2010 with electronic throttle control systems but without a brake override system. Those include the 2004-2012 F-Series pickups and the 2005-2009 Lincoln Town Car. Adam Levitt, a partner with the law firm of Grant & Eisenhofer says the plaintiffs in the case want "to be compensated for their economic losses by having overpaid for cars that contained defects." Levitt contends that the plaintiffs would not have bought their vehicles or paid less for them had they known there was no brake override system in place.
Ford began installing brake override systems in its vehicles beginning in 2010. In response to the lawsuit, Ford has pointed to research by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that indicated that unintended acceleration is mostly caused by driver error, saying in a statement that, "NHTSA's work is far more scientific and trustworthy than work done by personal injury lawyers and their paid experts."
Belville et al v. Ford Motor Co. will be heard in US District Court in the Southern District of West Virginia.
Mazda Turnpike in Japan shut down for racing
Mon, Dec 29 2014The people behind Motorhead Magazine in Japan clearly have some friends in high places. Not only did they manage to shutdown eight kilometers of the Mazda Turnpike up the Hakone mountain, but they invited some of the country's premiere racers to take a drive up the hill. This wasn't just a Sunday cruise either. Featuring a BMW Z4 from the Super GT series, a classic Ford GT40, two flavors of Nissan GT-R and two takes on the Subaru Impreza WRX STI, these guys came ready to run. When an opportunity to let racecars challenge a curvy mountain road presents itself, you don't squander it. Thankfully, the folks at Motorhead knew that and outfitted the course with a plethora of cameras and high-quality sound equipment to capture the action. The result is nothing short of sublime. Take the video's urging to turn up your speakers for this one, and watch as these racers hit ludicrous speeds in a beautiful place never meant for them.
