1928 Ford Model A Bantam Hot Rod Chopped Custom 401 V8 Hotrod Rat Ratrod Street on 2040-cars

You're looking at a No Reserve auction for a 1928 Model A Bantam style traditional hot rod with a custom, cut down Murray Body.  It was a 4 door, but now the rear suicide doors are the front/only doors.  The cowl, windshield and visor were moved back, and front doors eliminated.  The roof was chopped, and body angle channeled for that perfect rake. This is not piece of crap "rat" rod.  It is a clean, well thought out, high quality build from the ground up, using actual vintage parts that would've been available back in the '60s. The car is running, driving, is currently licensed, lights all work, turn signals are the type that model A's all used, Ooga horn works, brake lights, etc. The only two modern items on the car are the Lokar shifter and the radiator.  The frame is original Model A rails that have been boxed to handle the much more powerful 401 cubic inch Nailhead V8 that came out of a 1965 Buick Electra.  It has a TH-400 trans and the Electra rear axle with posi traction was installed. The front axle is stock Model A unit, but 1940 "juice" brakes were added. 1932 ford truck grille shell that has been channeled down with an aluminum radiator.

I have listed the car for my neighbor who built the car from just a frame and a body. This is truely a period-correct hotrod that has real heart and soul, NOT built from a catalog.  He is in the final stages of cancer and is not interested in trades unless you've got a nice '58 Chevy Station Wagon.  If you have other questions or would like to see the car in person, his sons are: Tracy 64l 42O 6785 or Robert 64l 42O 8674

Detroit's new fleet of donated police cars have safety issues [w/video]

Wed, 23 Oct 2013

In a show of generosity in mid-August, Detroit's business leaders donated $8 million to the Police Department and Fire Department in order to buy 100 new police vehicles and 23 EMS ambulances. But now officers have discovered - and complained - that the police vehicles have glaring safety issues, Deadline Detroit reports. It is not made clear what models of the fleet vehicles - which include police versions of the Ford Taurus, the Chevrolet Caprice and the Dodge Charger - are affected by the safety issues.
Officers reportedly have complained that the Plexiglass partition separating front-seat officers and back-seat prisoners is easily breached, and that the front passenger seat is installed too close to the dashboard. Prisoners who manage to writhe out of their handcuffs can bend the Plexiglass and reach into the cockpit, and sitting too close to the dashboard can render airbags more dangerous and make officers more vulnerable to injury in a crash.
Mark Diaz, president of the Detroit Police Officers Association, received the complaints and reportedly said the vehicles would get safety updates addressing the issues. But Deadline Detroit reports that it checked some of the offending police cars and, as of the last few days, they hadn't been updated.

FBI investigating recently fired Ford engineer for espionage

Fri, 25 Jul 2014

Agents of the FBI are investigating a potential case of industrial espionage involving a recently fired Ford employee. The Dearborn, MI-based manufacturer had its world headquarters searched by FBI agents on July 11, and according to The Detroit News, had warrants to seize recording devices handed over to Ford by Sharon Leach, a now-former Ford engineer.
Leach, who had spent 17 years with the Blue Oval, was fired last month, after Ford Security relieved her of eight Sansa listening devices. The FBI got involved shortly after her dismissal, searching her home on June 20 and seizing some two dozen items, including computers, jump drives and financial records, according to warrants obtained by The News.
Ford has remained quiet on the matter, with spokeswoman Susan Krusel confirming that the automaker was working with the FBI as part of a "joint investigation," while declining to provide any additional details.

Ford previews new C-Max ahead of upcoming debut

Mon, 15 Sep 2014

Looking at a Ford Focus? These days you can get it as a five-door hatch, a four-door sedan, or... that's all. European buyers don't even get our sedan, but they do get a wagon. And while the three-door hatch, two-door coupe and two-door cabrio have long since ended production, buyers around the world can also get the company's larger C-Max. And now, like the Focus upon which it's based, Ford is preparing to roll out a new version.
The tall wagon (or small minivan, depending on your perspective) is being treated to what Ford says is "an extreme makeover." Details to accompany the teaser image above remain few and far between, but following the spy shots we recently posted, it looks destined for some of the same visual updates as Ford rolled out on the 2015 Focus, with "even more refinement, practicality and technology."
Like the Mercedes B-Class, which is only available Stateside as an EV, American buyers can only get the C-Max in electrified form, either as the C-Max Hybrid or C-Max Energi. Overseas buyers, however, will be able to choose from a range of powertrain options and two wheelbase lengths - the longer of which boasts seven seats and the Grand C-Max name. (Remember when Chrysler did the same with its minivans?) Both are set to debut on September 17, so watch this space. After that, we'll expect to see it on display at the Paris Motor Show.
