1974 FORD LTD 2 door hardtop, red, recent white vinyl top replacement by professional shop, black int. approx. 35,000 miles, 400 cu V8, 3 speed automatic, P/S, P/B, A/C but not functioning, AM radio, cornering lights that are not currently connected, power trunk release button in glove box, original Ford floor mat in front, always garaged, no rust, appears to have been rustproofed, see plug in door jamb photo, excellent shape, a true time capsule, drives like it should, trans shifts fine, recent tires, new radiator, new brake master cylinder, recent dual exhaust with flow master type mufflers, sounds good but not quiet with factory style tailpipes. Original wheel covers included, as well as dealer brochure, and 5 volume shop manual set from 1974.There are a few door dings if you look close enough that could be removed by paint-less dent removal service. I purchased the car in July 2008 with 32,458 miles, and it currently shows 35,136, which equates to 2,678 miles or 535 miles per year in the last 5 years. Title shows miles as actual miles. Enjoyable car to own, drive, and show. Being sold as is, so please make sure to look at the photos closely before you buy! Buyer responsible for pick up within 7 days of auction unless other arrangements made, deposit of $500 due at end of auction via PayPal, and balance due by cash or cashier’s check within 7 days of auction end. Ward's Automotive Ten Best Engines of 2014 dominated by diesels, turbos
Thu, 12 Dec 2013With the Car and Driver Ten Best decided, the North American Car and Truck of the Year finalists announced and Cadillac, Ram and Subaru chalking up wins with Motor Trend, it's fair to say that the automotive awards season is in full swing. The next set of trophies to be handed out will be from Ward's Automotive, which has announced the winners of its 2014 10 Best Engines.
The latest contest was marked by the widespread emergence of diesel power and the continued success of turbocharged engines. There was even an electric motor on this year's list. In fact, only three of the ten winners were naturally aspirated and only two winners returned from last year.
"We weren't looking to throw the bums out, as they might say about an election. We were just really impressed with the flood of new powertrains," said Ward's Automotive Editor-in-Chief Drew Winter. Those new powertrains include the 83-kilowatt electric motor from the Fiat 500e, the 1.0-liter, EcoBoost three-cylinder from the Ford Fiesta and the 2.0-liter turbodiesel from the Chevrolet Cruze.
Ford posts record pre-tax Q3 profit of $2.6B
Thu, 24 Oct 2013Ford took in $2.6 billion in pre-tax profits in the third quarter of the year, making for a record trio of months that saw the Blue Oval's year-over-year earnings increase by $426 million. The earnings are being attributed not just to improvements in North American sales, but sales around the globe.
Revenue was up 12 percent, to $36 billion, although net income took a hit, dropping $359 million to $1.3 billion. Ford was dinged with $498 million in pre-tax charges, which are being blamed for the drop in net income.
The news has boosted Ford's hopes for full-year results, bumping it's total profits up past $8 billion, according to Automotive News. The Dearborn, MI-based manufacturer is still expecting a loss in Europe, although it's forecasted less than the $1.73 billion it burned in 2012. In fact, according to CFO Bob Shanks, Ford's European losses dropped by 51 percent year-over year, a huge improvement for the brand.
Hear the 2015 Mustang GT V8 roar for the first time
Wed, 26 Jun 2013Our combined knowledge of the 2015 Ford Mustang continues to deepen, as spy shooters have begun to compile video and audio of the upcoming sixth-generation car.
Case in point is this latest series of video clips, which not only gives us a great vantage point of the Mustang in motion, but also allows us to hear the Ford V8 engine and exhaust. After perusing the aural delights of this short video, which, admittedly, doesn't catch the Mustang GT at full song, we can at least say that the throaty exhaust isn't disappointing.
Chances are good that the 2015 Mustang GT will debut with some version of the current (and excellent) Coyote 5.0-liter V8 engine, though we're unclear as to whether or not the motor has been massaged for its next-gen debut, or what may have been done to exhaust plumbing. At this point, we're just happy to hear the pony run. Scroll below to hear for yourself.
