I am selling my 1967 Galaxie convertible! I hate to let it go, especially after sparing no expense to fix every little thing. Now I have other irons in the fire, and will sell the car. Seems to be my life story: Hunt it, buy it for myself, insist everything is fixed to perfection, then let it go for what I have in it, or less,  for someone else to enjoy! Oh, well. This is truely a ground floor opportunity to get a clean muscle convertible before they go thru the roof in price as classics do.  You've got convertible, style, and muscle. Hard to get all that in any classic for under 20k. And it's red with white convertible top. I get compliments everwhere I go, as you can imagine. This car is all original, older frame on restoration. It has been repainted beautifully sometime in the past. I took pics, but they don't do it enough justice. It runs perfectly. The original 390 engine has just had all the seals replaced (see pic of receipt) because it had a few minor drips. Over $400 later, it is now bone dry with new fluids. (oil and radiator fluids) Same with the transmission. I had a trusted reputable transmission shop that I have done business with for years, go through the transmission. It had a small drip; but to change out ALL the seals, the transmission had to be removed and gone through. Seals, torque converter, bushings, adjust bands, you name it. $800 later (and they gave me a break) the original cast iron transmission is bone dry with all new filters and fluid. Purrrfect. It is a drip free car. It runs perfectly, and the transmission and drive train are functioning perfectly. I pay attention to detail. All the bulbs in the dash work, as do all the gauges. (original, of course) The little blue light comes on on the dash when you start it up; indicating it's not up to operating temp yet. Now, lets talk about front end and brakes. Perfect. Tight front end, a treat to drive! You can take your hands off the wheel, no corrections needed. No shimmy, no shake. You can brake to a stop with hands off wheel, and it does not pull. Let's put it this way. If you come here and see and drive this car, you will buy this car. Drive it over railroad tracks, no rattle! I've had hi dollar classics that sound like a bucket of rocks when you go over bumps. This is one sweet tight car. The mileage is ACTUAL 86000 miles. It states "Actual Miles" on my Kansas title. Kansas is a title inspection state...They check. Body: Very clean driver. No rust in panels, trunk, or body mounts. Go over entire car with magnet! This isn't my first rodeo, and I know what to look for when I buy in the first place. Now, if I could only hang onto something before wanting to sell to get something else......The convertible top motor was sluggish and slow when I got it, and after fixing leak, hydraulics and all, it works perfectly with the touch of a button. Rises quickly and vigorously! I have turned all the little problems into a turn key car. Now, am I saying it's a 30k frame off restro and #1 garage queen? NO. Just a very clean dependable driver with a few (very few) minor dings, that is a treat to see, drive, and watch go up in value. If you can hang onto it! Interior is nice original, no cracked dash. (dashes usually crack on these) This car has had good care. I still have the original owners warranty plate. (see pic) I could go on and on, but seeing is believing. Feel free to email any and all questions. Email me your number and I will call you to answer more questions. I have it priced under what I have in it, so there is very little room to negotiate.  You must make own arrangements to come here and take delivery, or hire shipping co.  Don't bid if you are not ready to buy with CLEARED funds.  I require $1000 down by Paypal upon completion of deal, and the rest can be paid when you pick up the car. Don't wait. What will this nostalgic red muscle convertible with stacked headlights be worth in 5 years??  Happy times!   ADDED NOTE: It still has the orig radio in it, which is unplugged. I have a Sony stereo system with 4 speakers, bracket, and remote, that I was going to put in it. I never got around to it, but that Sony stereo set is included.

Ford Recalls Nearly 700,000 Vehicles

Fri, May 9 2014

Ford is recalling more than 692,000 Escape small SUVs and C-Max gas-electric hybrids in North America to fix two safety problems. The recalls cover vehicles from the 2013 and 2014 model years. Most of the Escapes have both problems. The first case covers 692,500 Escape and C-Max vehicles. A software glitch can stop the side curtain air bags from inflating in certain types of rollover crashes. The company says it has no reports of crashes or injuries. Dealers will reprogram the air bag control computer for free. About 65,000 of the recalled vehicles are C-Max models, and the rest are Escapes. Roughly 591,000 are in the U.S., with 3,500 more in U.S. territories. About 78,000 are in Canada and another 19,500 are in Mexico, Fordspokeswoman Kelli Felker said in an e-mail. There could be more vehicles affected in other markets, the company said. The affected Escapes were built from Oct. 5, 2011 through Feb. 14, 2014. The C-Max vehicles were built from Jan. 19, 2012, through Feb. 24, 2014. The second case covers about 692,700 Escapes. Exterior door handles can bind and stop the door from latching properly. This could allow doors to open while the SUVs are in motion. Dealers will inspect the handles and reposition them if needed. No crashes or injuries have been reported. About 583,000 are in the U.S. or its territories, with another 89,500 in Canada and 20,000 in Mexico. Ford said in this case, the problem may affect vehicles in other markets. All the North American Escapes were built from Oct. 5, 2011, through April 10, 2014. Recalls Ford escape

Ford to revisit CVTs?

Thu, Dec 11 2014

Today, Ford wishes its first experience with non-hybrid continuously variable transmissions was far behind it. The Blue Oval was awash in complaints and a couple of class-action lawsuits over the CVTs used in its 2005-2007 Ford Freestyle, Five Hundred and Mercury Montego models, which were a manufactured in Batavia, Ohio as part of a joint venture with ZF. The company gave up on the CVT after just two years, but with fuel economy standards pressing automakers to conjure new tricks, Ford's global product development head, Raj Nair, is now saying the transmissions might make a return, "particularly in the low torque applications," says Automotive News. An obvious candidate for CVT consideration is the 1.0-liter Fiesta that can presently only be had with a five-speed manual. Beyond that, the company's 1.6-liter and 2.0-liter four-cylinder engines might fit the bill. Ford hasn't given any indication as to what vehicles it might use to reintroduce the CVT to the US market, or hints about timeline or who would develop it, however. Some CVT trivia: The 1990 Subaru Justy II was the first US passenger car offered with a continuously variable transmission - Subaru called it the ECVT. It handled gearing duties for a 1.2-liter, inline three-cylinder engine that got all of 70 horsepower. A contemporary blurb about the car begins with "Goodness, gracious, great gobs of gimmickry," and goes on to say that "We can't imagine where you would take this car for repairs, but we are certain that the one mechanic in the world who can fix it lives in a very expensive house." The transmission didn't win any fans, but the ECVT and the car have been largely forgotten, while Subaru played the long game and now you'll find its vastly improved Lineartronic CVT on six of the eight models it sells.

Ford 1.0L EcoBoost 3-Cylinder: Autoblog Technology of the Year award finalist

Wed, 19 Nov 2014

As the old saying goes, "There's no replacement for displacement." But these days, many automakers are launching powerful, downsized engines that offer similar or better power output than their predecessors, all while offering improvements in fuel economy and emissions. These days, we're seeing automakers replacing eight-cylinder engines with turbocharged sixes, and the naturally aspirated six-cylinder motors are being phased out in favor of potent turbo fours. But Ford has gone even smaller, offering a three-cylinder, turbocharged engine with one single liter of displacement.
Sure, three-cylinder engines aren't anything new - they've been offered around the globe for ages. But Ford's EcoBoost 1.0L powerplant is perhaps the best application the Autoblog team has tested. Gone are the triple-cylinder complaints of yore - this engine doesn't sound anemic or buzzy, and there's healthy power output on tap. In fact, compared to the 1.6-liter inline-four that Ford also offers in the Fiesta, the 1.0-liter is more powerful, while boasting an impressive 45 miles per gallon on the highway.
This engine has already received numerous accolades, including winning the International Engine of the Year award in 2012, 2013 and 2014. The 1.0L EcoBoost will be available in the refreshed 2015 Ford Focus here in the US.
