Offering a real decent 1964 Ford Galaxie from an older farmer. Been in his barn for decades and in poor health. I pulled it out and cleaned it up and found it to be super solid. Paint is all original except for the passenger fender which appears to have been replaced and repainted at some time long ago. Typical rock chips and scratches here and there all over it. Grille has a couple minor dings as some in mouldings here and there. The seat covers and carpet were dry rotted so were removed to expose super solid floors with the original paint still on them. The car would be virtually rust free if a mouse had not moved into the left lower quarter and built a nest. Has the typical rear bumper rust line like most 64 big cars have due to mud. This car shows no salt damage any where! I put NOS fairlane seat covers (not galaxie as they were not available) and aftermarket new carpets and headliner. The motor had frozen rings on one piston causing a miss (reason he parked it) so we pulled it and remanufactured the engine including all new pistons bored cylinders .040 over size pistons, rings, turned crank -.010-.010,new bearings, cam lifters, timing components, water pump, valve job etc. Normally I would not have messed with a four door but this car was too solid and nice not to. Has a new clutch and throwout bearing. Transmission and rear end have been serviced. Replaced the rear u-joint, All NEW wheel cylinders and brake shoes. Repacked front wheel bearings. New windshield and back glass gaskets. Has original script glass. Windshield has some pitting and bit cloudy on the right outside edge. Original door panels that have some minor nicks here and there and light sun damage. Steering wheel is nice and dash and garnish mouldings have new correct rangoon red paint with clear coat. Engine internals and machine work are all documented with pictures and receipts. Interior work documented also. If you want a fun car and so perfect that you are afraid to drive it this is a solid and dependable car. Has less than 50 miles on everything done to it. Literally redid the car to sell it. You would be hard pressed to purchase a car and do what has been done to this car for the asking price. I have about 150 project cars here and this is one of the most solid original cars I have come by for a reasonable price in a long time. I will not mind driving this one myself. This car has a lot more power than I expected and drives smooth and straight.

How that awesome Mustang R/C car chase vid was made
Tue, 06 Aug 2013We've reported on a few R/C car chase videos in the past. One in particular that stands out as a favorite is Zach King's "The Cliché RC Action Chase." It featured a pair of Ford Mustang coupes racing through a cardboard city, plowing into outdoor patios and busting through construction zones. It was wonderfully creative and fun to watch, yet we know there was more to its creation than a bunch of guys fooling around with a camera one afternoon.
Turns out we were right, as evidenced by this video produced by Ford that takes us behind the scenes of Zach's creation. The young filmmaker explains why he chose the Mustang to star in his video, as well as how the cardboard sets were created, what equipment they used for shooting and what it was like when his video went viral. Ford found the young filmmaker and produced the followup as part of its Mustang Countdown video series, which will see a new video about the Mustang culture released every week until the original muscle car's anniversary on April 17, 2014.
Want to make an RC chase video of your own? Yeah, we do too. Watch the behind-the-scenes video below (you can refresh yourself on the mini feature film, too) before you get started.
249 reasons you want to go to Goodwood Revival
Sat, Sep 16 2023At its most basic, Goodwood Revival is a long weekend worth of car races featuring cars made before 1970. There are lots of those, though, including some pretty great ones all over the world. But nothing is like Goodwood Revival because it's so much more than "just" vintage car racing. First, you have to look the part. Attendees are strongly encouraged to dress in period clothing from the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s, with a strict dress code enforced should you want to enter the paddock. The goal is to create a more authentic atmosphere to match the cars and the meticulously restored and recreated paddocks, grandstands and other facilities of the reborn Goodwood circuit. Now, the dress code was relaxed this year since the Saturday was literally the hottest Sept. 9 on record in that part of England, and the organizers didn't want people dropping dead because they needed to wear an ascot. Some people definitely took the "relaxed" bit too far, but there was still plenty of atmosphere maintained. It really does make a big difference, as those "relaxed" individuals were often akin to seeing a Starbucks cup in a scene from "Game of Thrones." You can see what I came up with below along with former Autoblog editor Reese Counts and various other Goodwood attendees. Second, there's the parking lot. But I'll let this entire separate post detail that. Third, there's the enormous carnival-like area featuring vintage-looking rides and various boutiques. Both of those are on the outside portion of the track, and honestly, you could easily just spend your entire day in the parking lot and carnival/shopping area without even crossing over into the circuit area. There you'll find more shops, food and drink opportunities, plus obviously, race car paddocks and the track itself. Fourth, there are airplanes! I heard there are fewer than in the past, but they're there and they're cool. The Goodwood circuit started out life as the perimeter road around the World War II airfield RAF Westhampnett. Fifth, with all of the above, Goodwood Revival really is fun for the whole family. It isn't just a bunch of old guys sitting around in lawn chairs. There are plenty of women and adorably dressed children, including babies in vintage prams. It's also not an event that's exclusively for the uber rich, even if they are certainly in full force given who has the sort of money needed to go vintage racing.
Bill Ford wins National Pond Hockey Championship with employees
Tue, 11 Feb 2014Who says executives aren't people? This past weekend, Bill Ford, executive chairman of Ford Motor Company, and a group of employees trekked up to Eagle River, WI for a few games of pond hockey. Team Ford took part in the 2014 Labatt Blue/USA Pond Hockey Championship, capturing its fifth title in the 50+ Tier 1 Division.
"It feels great to win," Ford, who plays on the team alongside other Ford employees, told the USA Hockey website. "It was fun to play [River Valley Pioneers] because they're great guys and we play them every year. We finally beat them, which we were due. It was a very clean game, a tough game."
The FoMoCo team managed to score seven goals to River Valley's two, and went undefeated in all five of its games during the tourney. Take a look below for the official press release on Team Ford's win.
