You are looking at a 1968 Ford Galaxie 500 XL. The car has 54,691 believed to be the actual mileage but the title reads exempt. So we are not sure. We bought this car from an estate, It has been sitting for around 20 years. The car does run and drive when we purchased it we cleaned the carburetor and changed the points The engine does however smoke sometimes its a little but sometimes it smokes alot not really sure what it is. we got it running enough to make sure the tranny has all its gears and it does. When we purchased it the brakes were froze we put on a new master cylinder and bled the lines. It appears that when it was parked 20 years ago there were new break pads and lines put on the car. the brakes are still stiff and will need adjusted. It does stop and can be moved around enough to get it on a trailer. the car does have power front disc brakes and power steering. The frame has been repaired in several spots, there is also frame rot on the rear of the car before the rear bumper and a few other spots around the car.  Floor boards and trunk pan do not seem to bad . (see pics) the body is not to bad, there are some holes in the door and fender (see pics). The bumpers are rusty and they will need re-chromed. the top has 2 holes towards the back and the window is also very cloudy. The top does work up and down sometimes it stops midway because the relay gets hot if you wait a few minutes it will work again. The interior is not bad for its age I think its original drivers seat is split at the seam and there are cracks in the dash.  This car does need restored you can not jump in it and drive it the brakes need work and the engine smokes This car will need hauled. The pictures look better than the car does in person. I do not have a key for the trunk and I have never opened it there is a key for the glove box but it does not fit the trunk. There is some trim that came with the car but I the think it is aftermarket you can take it along with the car. It is for the center strip down the side of the car. That pretty much sums it up...

Weekly Recap: An '80s encore in the auto world

Sat, Jul 11 2015

The '80s returned in a big way this week, as National Lampoon's, Ghostbusters, Miami Vice, and even Tetris were back in the news. While there were far more serious topics (see below), nostalgia mingled with modern marketing to put these Reagan-era favorites back in the spotlight. The '80s were alternately cold and corny at times, but their cultural touchstones can still generate big money. That's why Infiniti recreated an iconic scene from National Lampoon's Vacation (1983) for an advertisement that hawks the QX60 crossover. Actor Ethan Embry, who played Rusty Griswold in a later Lampoon's movie, pilots the Infiniti – which is serving as a modern Family Truckster – for a trip to Walley World. A blonde pulls alongside in a red Lamborghini. They flirt, and she drives on. Christie Brinkley, who played the original girl in the red sports car (she drove a Ferrari in the '83 flick), is riding shotgun and chides Embry with: "A blonde. In a convertible. Seriously?" Okay, it's hardly on the level of "here's looking at you," or even "you can't handle the truth," but it should resonate with '80s babies, many of whom are now having children of their own and moving into three-row SUVs like the QX60. Naturally, Hollywood is going back to the well, too, with a Vacation remake that premiers July 29. Meanwhile, Ghostbusters is returning next year, and director Paul Feig offered a peak at the new Eco-1 in this tweet. In the 1984 classic, the team drove a modified 1959 Cadillac. Now, it will drive a late '80s Cadillac. As expected, the announcement generated support and controversy from movie and car enthusiasts. His tweet had generated several thousand retweets and favorites in the days following the news. Though the '80s Caddy looks, uh, less elegant in comparison to the now-iconic fins and curves of the original Ecto-1, it's about the same time lapse into the past as the '59 Caddy was to viewers in 1984. Speaking of 1984, Miami Vice, which debuted that year on NBC, is seeing one of its hero cars hit the auction block, Mecum Auctions announced this week. The 1986 Ferrari used on the show will be offered for sale Aug. 15 during Monterey classic car week. The white supercar runs a 390-hp flat 12-cylinder engine paired with a five-speed manual transmission and was in storage after the show ended in 1989 until earlier this year. It has 16,124 miles on the odometer and is authenticated by Ferrari North America and Classiche.

NHTSA probing 2000-2003 Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable models over throttle issue

Mon, 29 Oct 2012

A potential issue with the speed control cable collar has got the 2003-20003 Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable under the spotlight of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. If the collar breaks it can cause the throttle to be stuck open.
The issue is limited to vehicles with the 3.0-liter V6 Duratec. There are just 50 complaints so far out of 310,000 cars, but the NHTSA has begun an investigation into whether a recall should be issued.

J Mays' legacy

Fri, 15 Nov 2013

Mays is by far not the first designer to use heritage design cues in his work.
The announcement that J Mays will be leaving his chief creative officer role at Ford Motor Company on January 1 ends a 13-year run in one of the industry's top design roles. While best known for having a hand in reborn classics like the Volkswagen New Beetle, Ford Mustang and Thunderbird (above), Mays' legacy is more complicated and nuanced than being considered the father of what is known as "retrofuturism".
