Selling a 1967 Ford LTD "Galaxie" 2 door hardtop with 89,000 original miles. This car is a survivor. Still has original paint but had her vinyl top removed due to wear. Top was painted with POR for protection. I am the second owner. Has black and yellow CA plates. Car was built in Los Angeles , CA and sold in Long Beach, CA. It has spent its entire life in California. Still has original interior but fabric a little rough in some spots. The front bench is worn on the drivers side from getting in and out. The rear bench has some holes on top of the seat bag from sun damage. The headliner has separated over the front seat, it is pinned up so that it doesn't hang down. Original stereo is included but is not operational.  Motor is a 390 big block mated to C6 auto transmission. The motor runs well and the tranmission shifts smoothly. The motor is an "H" code which after some research is the same as a "S" code just with a 2 barrell instead of the 4. Original A/C car have got everything functioning but needs charging. There is no rot found in this car just very light surface rust where the paint has worn, that is minimal. I have put replica Magnum 500 wheels and Kelly Cooper Cobra GT radials on it around 300 miles ago. Still have the original steel wheels and hubcaps. I have all trim and emblems except the grill emblem. Also still have original air cleaner. I have replaced the master cylinder, wheel cylinders, brake shoes, alternator, fuel pump, spark plugs, plug wires, coil and the ignition. The had the car sitting since 1991 before I purchased it in February of 2012. Before I purchased it he had rebuilt the carb, installed new lower/upper radiator hoses and cleaned/sealed the fuel tank.

I will not arrange for shipping but will be happy to work with your shipper.

2015 Ford F-Series Super Duty Power Stroke

Tue, 29 Jul 2014

What weighs 30,000 pounds? Big Ben's Westminster bell. A navy ship anchor. Or as we found out during our first drive program for the 2015 Ford F-Series Super Duty, seven pallets of cinder blocks loaded onto a dual-axle gooseneck trailer. The test was part of a raft of towing demonstrations that showcased the new Super Duty's impressive tug capacity, which maxes out at 32,100 pounds. That's 1,200 more than its nearest rival, the Ram 3500, when equipped with its upgraded 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel V8. Such is the heavy-duty pickup truck business, a diesel-fueled game of one-upmanship with only three players: Ford, Chevrolet/GMC and Ram. And in this game, the one with the most torque wins.
Until 2014, Ford was the one to beat, with its 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel bringing 400 hp and a massive 800 lb-ft of torque to the table. Then last year, Ram did exactly that, serving Ford with a beefed-up Cummins turbodiesel inline-six in its freshened Ram Heavy Duty truck line with 385 hp and 850 lb-ft of torque, enabling it to tow up to 30,000 pounds. But Ford claims it had designed its engine to be relatively easy to upgrade when the time called for it, so for 2015, Ford bolted a larger turbo to the Power Stroke, bringing output to an insane 440 hp and 860 lb-ft of twist, all without reducing fuel efficiency. Maximum tow capacity rises from 24,700 lbs to an incredible 31,200 lbs for the F-450 dually.
As for GM's HDs? They lag behind the lot with their 6.6-liter Duramax V-8, producing 397 hp and 765 lb-ft of torque. Yeah, you know things are serious when the trucks with 765 lb-ft are the knock-kneed wimps of the lot.

Car companies used to cook up sales with recipe books

Fri, 08 Aug 2014

The evolution of automotive marketing has undergone a number of strange phases. Few, though, match the strangeness of the 1930s to 1950s, when automotive marketers turned to cookbooks as a means of promoting their vehicles. Yes, cookbooks. We can't make this stuff up, folks.
This bizarre trend led to General Motors distributing cookbooks under the guise of its then-subsidiary Frigidaire. Ford, meanwhile, offered a compilation of recipes from Ford Credit Employees (shown above). The cookbook-craze wasn't limited to domestic manufacturers, though. As The Detroit News discovered, both Rolls-Royce and Volkswagen got in on the trend, although not until the 1970s.
The News has the full story on this strange bit of marketing. Head over and take a look.

Watch Piquet and Mansell bend some sheetmetal in Ford Fusion GP

Tue, 12 Feb 2013

As we told you about before, there were four episodes planned for the Ford Fusion GP campaign in Brazil, and the whole series has now run its course. The Ford ads pit Brazilian Formula One driver Nelson Piquet against English F1 pilot Nigel Mansell driving the new Fusion, the two coming together again after their partnership at the Williams F1 team ended in a miserable state more than 20 years ago.
They're lined up for you below, in reverse chronological order. You should watch number three first, though, as it adds a bit more spice to the NASCAR action in the fourth.
