1966 Ford Galaxie 7 Litre on 2040-cars
Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, United States
For sale is a 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 with the very rare 7 Litre option. This car comes with it's original 428 which has been rebuilt along with it's matching C-6 transmission. The engine has been upgraded with a Cobra Jet cam, Edelbrock performer manifold , Hooker Super Comp headers, Crane electronic ignition and Holley 750 vacuum secondary carb. The alternator and power steering pump are new and the radiator has been rebuilt. Recent upgrades include a Hurst Quarter stick shifter, Turbo action valve body and Hurst line loc. The rear end is the original with traction loc and 4.11 gears and Hoosier 30" Drag Radials. The car has Crites fiberglass bumpers and hood but will come with 2 original hoods, one of which has the under hood light option. I have every piece of 7 Litre trim that will also come with the car(sorry no trunk spear). The car has brand new 7 Litre specific power disk brakes, all new drums, brake lines and the correct Kelsey Hayes rims up front. Other upgrades include a mechanical oil and temp guage (the original dash lights still work) new gas tank, body mount rubber, coil springs and Spohn lower and upper control arms (the originals will come with the car). I currently present the car as a Nostalgia B/FX 60's era race car but anything removed from the car has been saved and can be re installed. This car has run in the low 14's with 1.80 sixty foot times with a 5100 RPM rev limiter to protect the original drive train. The car was recently displayed at the York Nostalgia Nationals. Most of you folks who see this listing will know me or the car so please send me a message if you need more pics or info. I selling the car so i can make room to start a new project

2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost already hitting 12-second quarters
Sun, 28 Sep 2014The arrival of a new Ford Mustang means many things to many people, but not least of them is drag racers. The pony car has always been a mainstay of the drag strip, and the Ford Racing team aims to carry that reputation forward with this latest generation. So it cooked up a few basic modifications on three new 'Stangs and headed to the strips at US 131 and Milan Dragway to see what they could coax out of 'em.
Impressively, the 5.0-liter V8 Mustang GT with a few modifications (but no forced induction) managed to clock a quarter-mile time of 11.77 seconds. Another Mustang GT fitted with a supercharger clocked a blistering 10.97 seconds. But just as intriguing was the modified EcoBoost model that, with only four cylinders and 2.3 liters of displacement, still passed the gates in just 12.56 seconds - nearly half a second better than expected. This with modification limited to a new subframe, half-shaft, drive shaft loops, exhaust, engine calibration, slicks, roll cage and bucket seat. Well done, boys.
Ford’s Onboard Scales and Smart Hitch win the 2022 Autoblog Technology of the Year award
Thu, Dec 1 2022The 2022 Autoblog Technology of the Year award goes to Ford for the Onboard Scales and Smart Hitch hauling and towing features found in the F-150 lineup. This new technology, as tested in the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning, is a boon to pickup truck owners. Not only will it make observing your truck’s maximum loads easier and more intuitive, but it will also ensure youÂ’re hauling and towing in the safest-possible manner. We began the process with a long list of features to test and whittle down. Technologies like MercedesÂ’ new electric turbocharger, GMÂ’s Super Cruise with added towing capability and many more went through the consideration process, but we finally whittled the field down to just three finalists. They are: the GMC Hummer EV with its flashy CrabWalk four-wheel-steer technology, the Genesis GV60 with its facial recognition/fingerprint start technology, and of course FordÂ’s trucking gear. As is the norm for our Technology of the Year award, three main questions are asked, and editors assign point values based on how well the technologies perform in testing. How significant is this tech? How well does it work? And new for this year: Consider the Wow Factor. With the scores tallied, the Ford tech earned 123 points, topping the Hummer (117 points) and GV60 (108). This is the second straight win for Ford, which won the 2021 TOY Award with its Pro Power Onboard charging feature. Ford joins Tesla (2014, 2016) as the only two-time winner of our Tech of the Year Award, which dates to 2013. Kia, Cadillac, Tesla, BMW, Chevy, Chrysler and Audi technologies are among the previous winners. 2022 Technology of the Year testing View 16 Photos While systems that tow and haul may not seem to be the latest or most sophisticated tech, they remain essential and Ford uses things like the infotainment system, taillights and the Ford mobile app to create a forward-looking experience Henry Ford would never have dreamed of when the first Model Ts were outfitted with beds for farm and war duty in 1917. Even 10 years ago, integrating tech in this manner would have seemed futuristic, but Ford pulls it off. “FordÂ’s clever towing and hauling features earned our award this year because they are easy to use, easy to understand and simply make your life as a truck owner better,” Autoblog Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore said. “It was a competitive field this year, with HummerÂ’s CrabWalk and GenesisÂ’s Biometrics features both winning strong support.
Is Tesla's next project an F-150 competitor? [w/poll]
Wed, 13 Nov 2013What's the future look like for Tesla after it launches the Model X CUV and possibly a smaller, sub-Model S sedan? Would you believe a pickup truck? Yes, Tesla could be looking to use its EV know-how to take the fight to Ford and the F-150, based on comments made by company founder Elon Musk.
"If you're trying to replace the most gasoline miles driven, you have to look at what people are buying," Musk said during an impromptu Q&A session following a speech at Business Insider's Ignition conference. "[The F-150 is] the best selling car in America. If people are voting that's their car, then that's the car we have to deliver."
And while the idea of electric pickup may sound kind of absurd to some, Musk makes a very valid point - if Tesla's goal is to replace gas miles with electrical miles, it simply can't afford to ignore pickups.
