Up for auction is an original 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 LTD hard top.  The car has a very good running 390 4BBL equipped with A/C and power steering.  The car runs and drives excellent, the engine has had a recent tune up, carburetor rebuilt, original Cruise-O-Matic transmission rebuilt, and the exhaust shortened to exit just behind the rear wheels on each side rather that straight out of the rear as seen in a couple of the pictures.  The car was dyno tuned after all of this work was performed, the 390 produced 349.7 ftlb of torque and 229.7 Hp @ 4050 RPM (see dyno sheet in photos).  Front and rear shocks, belts and hoses have all been replaced within the past year.  The undercarriage of this car is very solid, there is surface rust in areas that the paint has worn thin and chipped off but nothing that will require any major work.  The trunk has surface rust as well, very solid.  The rear quarter panels should be replaced, the rust is through in one area of the drivers side but the main structure of the wheel well is fully intact.  Some of the chrome trim has pits but is straight and complete.  The interior is original with the exception of the carpet, it is a high quality replacement.  There is one seam that is split on the driver side top of the seat back, the original color has faded on the tops of the seats as well.  The steering wheel has a couple of cracks,  and the part of the dash above the gauges has warped and cracked it does look good with a dash mat over it though.  This car is stored indoors and driven in good weather, it always starts runs well and draws a crowd wherever it goes, it is a lot of fun to drive.  We have enjoyed taking it to many local shows and rod runs, it is ready to be driven wherever it needs to go with confidence.  We will require a $500.00 deposit within 24 hours of the auction closing, the balance due upon pickup or prior to.  The car needs to be picked up here locally within seven days of auction close unless other arrangements are made.  We can help with loading the car, or provide a ride from the airport. If you have any questions please feel free to call me at 303-594-0670.

Ford E-Series chassis cabs and cutaways to survive mass Transit onslaught

Fri, 18 Apr 2014

In March 2013, Ford announced we'd be getting chassis cab and cutaway versions of the Transit. Since incoming Transit vans will soon be rolling over the grave of the E-Series van, it was assumed that all E-Series models would go six feet under as well. According to a report from PickupTrucks.com, however, that's not the case, the report claiming that the highly modifiable E-350 and E-450 chassis cab and cutaway versions will continue being produced in Avon Lake, Ohio "at least until 2020."
Being decades old, the be-cabbed E-Series platform has found its way under an army of heavy-duty shuttle buses, work truck and ambulances. Ford spokeswoman Jessica Enoch verified the production horizon, telling Autoblog that the particular E-Series configuration "are a higher GVWR than the Transit chassis cab and cutaway (available this summer), which is more Class 2 and a new segment for us." So there you have it.

Ford debuts Fusion NASCAR racer that edges closer to stock [w/video]

Wed, 20 Feb 2013

The sixth-generation NASCAR Sprint Cup racecar, which will make its competition debut at the 2013 Daytona 500 this weekend, marks the closest thing to a "stock car" that the sport has seen in more than 20 years. No longer using just stickers to distinguish the different brands, the image above shows the lengths NASCAR and automakers went in order to create a racecar design that more closely resembles the individual cars they represent.
Ford, one of the more open and vocal OEMs regarding the Gen6 car's development, is giving us a closer look at its racing version of the Fusion with a pretty revealing side-by-side comparison with last years' racer (click above for an expanded view). Aside from the more realistic front end and production-like body lines, the overall shape, dimensions and proportions have also been designed to give the racecar a more stock appearance. Most of the new racer was designed by the Ford Design Center, which the automaker says was the first time it has been so involved in the design process since the 1960s. Of course, one area the Sprint Cup Fusion really differs from the production Fusion is its Ford Racing 5.8-liter V8 producing around 850 hp. Can you say Fusion SVT?

10 automakers shack up in Detroit hotel to talk Takata airbags

Sun, Dec 14 2014

Since Takata has decided not to take the lead concerning potential issues with its airbag inflators, the automakers have. Perhaps that's unsurprising, since it's the automakers, not Takata, that will take a beating on the dealership floor if consumers decide its models are a health hazards. The Detroit News reports that Toyota, Honda, General Motors, Ford, Chrysler, Mazda, BMW, Nissan, Mitsubishi and Subaru met in a hotel conference room near the Detroit Metropolitan Airport last week to sort out a way to understand the technical issues involved. So far, faulty airbag inflators have been ruled the cause of five deaths and 50 injuries around the world, but neither Takata nor investigators understands exactly why the inflators are malfunctioning. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently asked Takata to issue a national recall, Takata declined, citing a minuscule failure rate and the fact that it's still investigating the issue. Toyota and Honda then made an industry-wide appeal for "a coordinated, comprehensive testing program" that would pinpoint the problem inflators and get them replaced, and that's what the Detroit meeting was about. Numerous issues, however, will make this a long row to hoe: simply getting the parts to replace the nearly 20 million inflators in cars recalled around the world so far - even working with other suppliers - will take a years, but more importantly, no one knows if the replacement inflators currently being installed will suffer the same issue. Answers will hopefully come quickly with Takata, the ten automakers and NHTSA all independently investigating the problem.
