This car is in amazing original condition. Someone saved this car from day one. Only 56k miles with documented oil change sticks on the door jam. It is a local car that has obviously never been driven in bad weather, and appears to have been stored in a heated garage all it's life. The Paint is very good to excellent and appears to be partly or mostly original, no sign any accidents or body work. The undercarriage is amazingly clean Absolutely no rust, not even surface rust from what I can see. The chrome and trim is excellent too... Although the rear wheel moldings have a few dings. The original top was recently replaced. The original was black, but I decided to go with white, with a new glass rear window, no expense spared, and fits very well. All the weather stripping rubber is in excellent shape too. The boot is original and is missing a few snaps. The interior is all original and is in excellent condition. Mechanically it is also in excellent condition, and runs perfect, starts right up, no noises, or leaks, runs very quiet and has plenty of power, and the transmission shifts excellent too. The thing that doesn't seem right is on a hard stop the brakes pull once in a while. Everything works as it should except the clock... Heat, radio, and all the lights work too, even the trunk and license plate. Whoever buys this car should be very happy, I will really miss her. If you have any questions please ask. People that see this car are amazed at the condition, and think I'm crazy to sell it. I think I am too. I'll probably never have a Galaxie this nice unless I want spend $25000. Ford and Chrysler reducing summer plant shutdowns
Wed, 22 May 2013Most domestic automaker assembly plants traditionally take a couple of weeks off during the summer. The shutdowns give each plant time for much needed repairs and maintenance, and in some cases, help better align production with demand. Not this year, though, as demand for many models is outstripping what Ford, Chrysler and General Motors plants can produce.
Ford has announced that it will shorten its annual summer shutdown for most North American plants from two weeks to one. The shorter shutdown will increase the carmaker's annual North American production by 40,000 units on top of the 200,000 extra units that it was already planning to produce this year versus last. Automotive News reports that Ford produced 2.8 million vehicles on this continent in 2012, and that output this year has already increased 13 percent through April.
Chrysler, meanwhile, is also operating at full tilt and plans to run some plants through the summer with no shutdown at all. Those not getting a break include Jefferson North where the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango are assembled, Toledo North that will assemble the new Cherokee, and Conner Avenue, home of SRT Viper production. Other assembly plants will be down for a single week, while all of Chrysler's engine and transmission plants except one in Indiana will continue operating with no shutdown this summer.
2014 Ford Fusion to get 1.5L EcoBoost three-cylinder?
Tue, 09 Apr 2013Just one year after launching the all-new 2013 Fusion, Ford is reportedly set to alter the sedan's powertrain lineup with the addition of a new 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder EcoBoost engine. A member of Blue Oval Forums apparently got their hands on the ordering guide for the 2014 model year Fusion, and this 1.5-liter mill is set to be introduced with late availability.
This lines up with other news about the Chinese-market Mondeo being offered with a new 1.5-liter EcoBoost - a derivative of the 1.0-liter triple that will come to North America under the hood of the Fiesta (note: the 1.0 is also offered in the current Euro-spec Mondeo). In the Chinese application, the larger three-pot engine produces 177 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque, which is very close to the current 1.6-liter inline-four's output numbers of 178 hp and 184 lb-ft.
What's interesting, however, is that the 1.6-liter engine will reportedly still be offered in the Fusion, but only with the six-speed manual transmission. The smaller 1.5-liter EcoBoost will only be mated to a six-speed SelectShift automatic, and will feature start/stop. This means that while the 1.5 is slightly down on power compared to the 1.6, it could easily improve fuel economy numbers, allowing the Fusion to regain the title of having the best mileage in the segment, likely besting the 38 miles per gallon of the Nissan Altima. Currently, the Fusion 1.6 is rated at 23 mpg city and 36 mpg highway.
Ford Mustang hit by Moore' Oklahoma's EF5 tornado lives to do another burnout
Fri, 07 Jun 2013Oklahoma recently saw the destructive power of an EF5 tornado, but in the aftermath of the devastation, we've also been witness to the incredible resilience of the human spirit. Moore, OK resident Jack Haden survived the storm but found that his 2003 Ford Mustang wasn't quite as lucky. As you can see in the image above, the tornado's 200+ mph winds did quite a number on the car, but while most people would have likely called their insurance company and scrapped the car, Haden had other plans.
After finding the car and seeing that its V6 still fired up, Haden spent a couple hours getting the car, um... roadworthy(?)... by removing the doors and front clip, cutting off the roof and putting on some new wheels and tires. He noticed that driving it around brought some comic relief to an area that needed a reason to laugh and smile.
