You are looking at a 1966 Ford Galaxie convertible that I am listing for a friend. He purchased the car earlier this summer thinking it would make a great driver for his wife - but alas she does not like the car. (she
does like it - but feels it is way too big for her to drive). So - as things have turned out he has decided to sell the car. In looking the car over it is solid with a newer paint job apparent. The black interior is in good
overall condition with no rips or tears. The carpeting is in great condition and the convertible top is newer as well. The top motors work great to put it up/down. Note that the rear glass is REAL glass NOT plastic
like most of the replacement tops use. There is an underdash stereo that my buddy has never used which is hooked up to speakers in the trunk with a booster as well. Note that the original push button factory radio
is still in place in the dash (so the dash was not chopped up to install an aftermarket radio in it) Wear items - such as pedal pads etc look to be original to the car and are not excessively worn, indicating a high mileage
car. The odometer shows 4286 but I would believe that the  odometer has turned over at least once (see mileage  in the listing header - no way knowing for sure what it really is). All the glass is in good condition.
The body is solid as stated and all the gaps are straight. The doors hang straight with no sag and the bottoms are good. Rockers, fender and 1/4 bottoms look good. Chrome still is shiny and not all pitted and all the
aluminum trim is in good condition including the grille. Note that the headlight trim and tail light chrome would need to be re-chromed for show, but they are great as they are for a really nice driver. Tires are newer
15 inch radials with nice wheel covers. The trunk appears as it should - with nice original carpet and spare tire cover. Running gear - 390 V8 big block. The engine APPEARS to have been out for rebuild - this is stated
because it does run great, has headers, late model HEI ignition, Edelbrock aluminum intake with Edelbrock 4 bbl. carburetor and it was detailed when out. We cannot guarantee this however!!!. Newer hoses and
belts have been installed along with a one wire alternator. Engine starts right up and runs great. Sounds great too through the headers and dual exhaust. Transmission works fine and provides nice smooth cruising.
Win the bid - fly in - take the train or bus or come with a buddy (or your better half) and drive this baby home..

Again - please note that I am listing this car for a friend. Should you have any questions or want more pictures please contact me through e-bay or call me at 269 795-2647. I will do my best to get back to you with
an answer.

this vehicle to the best of our abilities, however no warranty is offered or expressed. Prospective buyers are encouraged to contact me with any questions about the car. 6. Shipping and any related expenses involved

Revisiting the 2008-09 auto bailout that saved GM and Chrysler

Fri, Sep 2 2016

The Federal Reserve stayed open late on December 31, 2008. There's almost no way you could remember that because barely anyone knew at the time. But General Motors had to pay its bills, and the Fed wired money so GM could still buy things in January. Without those funds, the nation's largest automaker wouldn't have seen much of 2009. It's one of many heart-stopping moments that illustrate just how close Detroit's Big Three came to extinction nearly a decade ago. They're chronicled in a new movie, Live Another Day, premiering in theaters September 16. Filmmakers Bill Burke and Didier Pietri interviewed nearly all of the key executives, federal officials, and union chiefs to recreate the auto industry's most perilous period. The movie begins in the aftermath of Lehman Brothers' demise amid the global financial meltdown. Things looked bleak for American carmakers, and their CEOs were laughed off Capitol Hill when they sought a Wall Street-style bailout. "It was a feeling that it was the end of the world," Pietri told Autoblog in an interview where he and Burke previewed the film. Saved by last-minute loans authorized by the Bush Administration after Congress refused to act, Detroit staggered into 2009 with a faint pulse. Live Another Day illustrates the downward spiral that played out that winter as President Obama and his task force – with little prior knowledge of the auto industry – wrestled over the fate of hundreds of thousands of jobs. GM's longtime CEO Rick Wagoner was fired in March. Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne suddenly appeared as a savior for Chrysler, with his own motives. Obama rejected restructuring plans from the automakers. Chrysler declared bankruptcy on April 30. GM followed June 1. The sequence was very public, but Pietri and Burke showcase lesser-known events that shaped the outcome. They also seek to dispel the notion that the government rescued GM and Chrysler from incompetent leaders. "We never subscribed to the theories that the management structures of the companies were a bunch of idiots who didn't know what is going on," Pietri said. At one point, Chrysler executives were negotiating with Marchionne and Fiat. Unbeknownst to them, the government was having its own talks with the Italian automaker. The filmmakers also cast light on the bankruptcy process, which was shredded to shepherd two of America's industrial icons through reorganizations.

Ford offering factory-spec EcoBoost reflashes that don't void warranty*

Sat, Dec 27 2014

Buy a supercharger or cold-air kit from Ford Racing and a Performance Calibration handset comes with it to reset the ECU for the upgrade. Now Ford Racing is offering the ProCal handset a la carte for $595, allowing you to reflash the ECU on your EcoBoost-equipped ride to extract more of its inherent capabilities without any additional upgrades. It gives you control of variables such as throttle response, idle speed and turbo wastegate control, among others. As for that warranty asterisk, the press release says enthusiasts can up the power "while maintaining the Ford-backed limited warranty." However Ford Motor Co. and Ford Racing are separate entities, and, best we can tell, when you reflash the ECU, your Ford warranty gets supplanted by the Ford Racing warranty. Say you bought a 2014 Ford, that means your five-year, 60,000-mile warranty becomes Ford Racing's three-year, 36,000-mile warranty, if we're reading the fine print correctly. If you have an older car and have driven more than 36,000 miles, then your warranty options are kaput, at least as far as a Ford in-house option. If have warranty concerns, you might also want to consider having a dealer perform the reflash, or at least ask about it. Once you've got past the small print, what about the numbers? At the moment Ford Racing offers tunes for the 2.0-liter EcoBoost in the Focus ST and the 1.6-liter EcoBoost in the Fiesta ST, and we're told there's a 90-pound-foot boost in torque at the crank after you've pressed the right buttons. Anecdotal evidence from a commenter at Road & Track says he went from 252 horsepower at the flywheel to 254 hp at the wheels, and 272 lb-ft at the flywheel to 354 lb-ft at the wheels, but we can't be sure that his adjustments were within Ford Racing specs. Your mileage, naturally, may vary. What about custom numbers for the 2.3-liter EcoBoost in the 2015 Ford Mustang? They aren't ready yet, but we're told we'll get something by the end of next year. Ford reflects on radical Mustang concept that never reached showrooms

Tue, 25 Jun 2013

The Ford Mustang that we all know and love made major waves in the auto industry way back in 1964 by offering style and reasonable pricing with optional V8 power. Its long hood and short rear deck, combined with a low-slung and sporty cockpit, made a lasting impression in the minds of consumers and car designers alike, and its basic shape has so endured the test of time that it's still in use today.
This being the case, you may be interested to know that the first Mustang of 1964.5 wasn't actually the first Mustang at all, being preceded by a concept car that made its public debut in 1962. This concept was nothing like the car that would eventually make it into production, with a radical wedge shape and a small V4 engine sitting behind the car's two occupants, driving the rear wheels. In other words, the conceptual Mustang was pretty much the complete opposite of the production Mustang besides the name.
Ford has kindly decided go through its massive archive to bring the original Mustang concept back into the public eye. The company goes so far as to pose this question to fans of the pony car: "Should we borrow a few of these style elements for the next iteration of the Mustang?" Check out our image gallery above and then let 'em know what you think in the Comments below.
