1966 Ford Galaxie 500 Convertible. Car has the original 352 FE motor and original transmission. Car runs off of pouring a bit of gas in the carb. The fuel line is disconnected from the fuel pump because I didn't want old gas to go into the carb. All the glass is in good condition and goes up and down freely, except for the drivers side door glass which got broken, also the drivers side vent glass isn't there. Car is pretty much complete. Chrome is in decent condition. Missing one hubcap. Car has a bit of rust. The main areas is the trunk pan which needs attention and so does the trunk lid, but I do have a spare trunk lid which goes with the car. The convertible top motor works but it will need some hydraulic fluid in it. All the lights work. Has more parts that come with the car. Would make a great restomod/ pro touring. Ford recalls 83k Taurus and crossover models for halfshaft issue
Fri, 15 Aug 2014Ford and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have issued a recall for some 83,250 vehicles in the US, for an issue with halfshafts. More specifically a "halfshaft retention circlip" might not have been properly installed on affected vehicles, with the result being halfshafts that may move improperly or disengage completely from the linkshaft while driving. The NHTSA release also notes that the issue may occur "without prior warning" which obviously factors in to the timeliness of getting this checked.
Should the halfshaft disengage, a few troubling things could happen. If it occurs while driving, power from the engine will no longer be transmitted to the wheels. And, if the vehicle is parked without the parking brake applied after disengagement of the circlip, vehicles may roll away even if they're transmissions have been placed in "Park."
Affected vehicles are as follows: Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX crossovers from model years 2012 to 2014; Ford Taurus and Lincoln MKS sedans from model years 2013 to 2014; Ford Flex and Lincoln MKT vehicles from model years 2013 to 2014.
Ford blamed in drug mule lawsuit
Tue, 30 Jul 2013If a college student is caught smuggling drugs across the border, one might think the kid got what was coming to him. But when a Mexican student at the University of Texas in El Paso was caught by Border Patrol agents with duffel bags filled with marijuana in his trunk, the man used a classic excuse: He claimed they weren't his.
While a claim like that is almost unbelievable, Ricardo Magallanes, the student, is now suing Ford for handling its vehicles' key codes negligently enough to allow drug smugglers to break into his Ford Focus and stash the drugs, The Daily Caller reports. The twist here is that four other people who lived in Juarez and worked in El Paso were involved in the same type of scheme - allegedly unwittingly, just like Magallanes - and all the cars were Fords except one model from General Motors. FBI agents also found an employee at a Dallas Ford dealership that had accessed the key codes to all four of the cannabis-stuffed Fords.
While we all may not own Fords, the case still causes us slight paranoia. We'll definitely be checking our trunks before we cross any more international borders.
