I am listing this beautiful car for a friend of mine. Up for bids is the real deal a 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 XL with a 289 v8 with a C4 automatic transmission, original interior with some cracks
and a failed seam in the back seat. This is a Midwest car from Missouri
till a few years ago. Garaged 85% of its life. New installed parts: windshield, tires, spark plugs, wires, air filter. New parts not yet installed:rear coil springs, rear shocks, distributor cap, rotor. (Have these) Needs: could use a new top-it is still weatherproof, but it isn't winning any shows.Convertible hydraulic piston needs a hose fitting, top is manual raise and lower now. Some bubbling at the lower edge of the trunk deck, doors, and behind the wheels. No exposed rust.Paint still beads water, dual exhaust with cherry bombs, all trim,
badges, and interior trinkets (knobs, buttons, indicator lights, and
handles) are all original and there. This car is awesome! Every where I stop, people comment. The undercarriage is extremely clean and the frame is very solid. A sudden change in employment status is forcing me to sell the car. Don't want to, but gotta pay the bills. In 1966 Ford made less than 6,500 of these cars so therefore this car is rare. So Serious Bidders Only!!!!! Good Luck and Happy Bidding
On Aug-20-14 at 13:50:26 PDT, seller added the following information: Update from above statement In 1966 Ford made less than 6,500 of these cars, but only 6,360 Galaxies 500 XL convertibles were produced by the Ford Motor Company in 1966. |

Ford recalling nearly 700k Escape CUVs, C-Max hybrids over two separate safety issues
Fri, 09 May 2014Poor Escape. Ever since its launch in 2012, Ford's small CUV has been the subject of many, many, many recalls. And today, The Detroit News is reporting that Ford is adding two more recalls to the 2013-14 model year Escape's permanent record, one of them also involves the C-Max hybrid hatchback.
The first recall, covering 692,500 Escape and C-Max vehicles, is due to a software glitch that could cause the airbags - specifically, the safety canopy - to not deploy in a timely fashion during rollover crashes. According to the News, Ford says no crashes or injuries have been reported in relation to this problem.
The second recall, covering 692,700 Escapes, is related to the door handles. The News reports that the exterior door handles could open while the vehicle is in motion, and could also fail to latch properly. Once again, no crashes or injuries have occurred because of this. The National Highway Safety Traffic Administration has not issued an official notice on either recall as of this writing.
NHTSA will investigate some Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ models for power steering issue
Tue, 07 Oct 2014The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening an investigation into the 2010-2012 Ford Fusion, Fusion Hybrid and Lincoln MKZ, the 2012 MKZ Hybrid and 2011 Mercury Milan because the agency has hundreds of complaints of electric power steering failure in these models.
According to NHTSA's data, it has received 508 complaints of the power steering allegedly suddenly malfunctioning and resulting in increased effort to turn the wheel. In four incidents, these failures resulted in loss of control and crashes. According to the reports, in some cases a power steering warning message came on as the fault occurred, and other times the system restored itself by turning off and then restarting the vehicle. NHTSA said it has also received further field report data from Ford, but that information hasn't been publicly released yet.
For the moment, there isn't a recall for this failure on these models. NHTSA is just investigating them to "assess the scope, frequency and safety consequences of the alleged defect," and the agency says an estimated 938,000 vehicles could potentially be affected.
Ford talking unibody Ranger replacement
Mon, 18 Feb 2013Now here's some welcome news. Car and Driver reports Ford is seriously mulling a replacement for the recently deceased Ranger, but the successor to the compact pickup's throne may not look anything like what we've seen from the nameplate in the past.
While speaking at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show, Doug Scott, marketing manager for Ford Trucks, said there's still a market for a smaller pickup, but that buyers expect to see a larger differentiation between the smaller utility vehicles and their full size counterparts in price, capability and fuel economy.
According to Scott, that means a vehicle with a payload capacity of around 1,000 pounds paired with a towing capacity of 3,000 pounds and "a dramatic reduction in fuel consumption." But the biggest piece of that recipe is the price tag, and Scott says to keep the MSRP far enough away from the already cheap F-150, the answer could come in the form of a unibody design. Scott says target customers in this market don't care whether the truck has a traditional frame or not, so long as it's tough enough to do the job and has the capability they need.
