Outstanding convertible very well cared for over many years.  Body is laser straight, paint excellent, interior superb.  All original with 1 exterior repaint many years ago.  Less than 80,000 actual miles.

Paint:  excellent with very few flaws.  Body panels are not only straight, but all body lines are at factory settings and doors, trunk and hood all open and close like a brand new car.

Interior:  Unbelievably well preserved all original interior.  All seams, accents, and vinyl and plastic parts are like new.  Vinyl is supple.  Dash is not cracked or warped.  Carpet is excellent but is faded in a few areas.   Dye it and it will look like new.  There is no musty smell.

Engine:  Runs excellent.  Does not knock, miss or burn any oil.  Drive anywhere in confidence.  I took it on a 2,000 plus mile vacation with no issues.  Currently has an exhaust manifold leak.

Top:  Completely serviceable but has some dark staining starting to show.  Another item that can be dyed and it will look like new.  Has perfect glass rear window.  Top boot is original, fits perfectly and is also still in excellent condition.  Top is aligned correctly and goes up and down fast.

Misc:  Tires are excellent, maybe 90% of tread left.  Whitewalls.  Factory spinner hubcaps are excellent. Stainless skirts are like new.  I added aftermarket cruise control & it works like it should. AM radio works fine, as do wipers and all other accessories except clock.  Glass is all excellent.  Although I have owned this car for about 12 years or so, I have never waxed it and never armoralled the vinyl.  I just keep it clean and dry.

Rust:  None except surface rust on a few underside areas where there is no undercoating.

I looked for a top-tier 65 Galaxie 500 XL for years before I bought this one and it has not disappointed me.  It will not disappoint you either.  Call Mike 719-660-5504 for any additional details.

As always, no warranty is expressed or implied.  International bidders welcome.  Buyer is responsible for shipping.  I will make car available for pickup.

I will be happy to provide any additional photos you might want.

Wed, Jan 15 2014

We head back to CES in Las Vegas to check on the progress of autonomous vehicles in 2014. We go hands-free on the highway with Audi, narrowly avoid a collision with Ford and hear all about BMW's drifting driverless car. But first we take a ride on Induct's self-driving Navia shuttle.

Weekly Recap: Jaguar takes a leap with price cut, new strategy

Sat, Sep 5 2015

Jaguar was one of the famous automotive props and plotlines in the now-iconic drama Mad Men. There's a scene where the show's protagonist, Don Draper, deftly undercuts an influential Jaguar dealer by indicating that get-me-in-the-door local radio spots would be an effective way to sell cars like the slinky E-Type. The British executives think this is folly – Draper knows they will – and his advertising strategy wins out over the dealer's approach to move the metal. Jaguar's not doing that, but half a century later in the real world the company is launching plans to make its cars more attainable to new and younger customers like Millenials. These aren't coupons, but this is a leap for Jaguar, which has long banked on sexy styling and its rich motorsports history to overshadow its past mechanical flaws. Put simply, Jaguar is addressing the reasons why people, especially the younger set, don't buy its cars. The 2017 XE will start at $35,895 when it launches next spring – which makes it an attractive buy for a successful, relatively young person. When it's time to move up, the redesigned XF will be more attainable, coming in at $52,895, which is $5,275 less than the 2015 model. The flagship XJ sedan and the enthusiast-oriented F-Type sports car will also get thousands of dollars worth of added standard features, and Jag is actively pitching them as a better value than their competitors. "The Jaguar brand is on the eve of a major transformation that will see it dramatically increase its presence in the United States luxury marketplace with an expanded lineup, pricing focused on the core of the luxury market, and an all-new ownership package with best-in-class coverage," Joe Eberhardt, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover North America, said in a statement. The brand's quality and reliability dings have also lurked in the back of buyers' minds for decades, though that's an outdated notion. Jaguar placed third in J.D. Power's Initial Quality Study in June and was the top-ranked luxury brand in J.D. Power's Customer Service Index in March. Not content, the company is rolling out an enhanced program called Jaguar EliteCare that launches on 2016 models. It offers a five-year, 60,000-mile limited warranty, the longest among its competitors, with free scheduled maintenance during that period. The plan also covers roadside assistance and connectivity features.

Britain orders 10,000 ventilators from F1/McLaren/Mercedes/Ford/Rolls-Royce/Airbus

Mon, Mar 30 2020

Paramedics and ambulance personnel get instructions from a command unit outside London's ExCel Centre arena, which is being turned into a 4,000 bed temporary hospital called NHS Nightingale to deal with coronavirus patients. The hospital is due to open Monday, March 30. / AP     LONDON — Britain has ordered 10,000 ventilators from a consortium of leading aerospace, engineering and Formula One racing companies which will start production this week in response to an urgent government call for industry to help save lives. The 27-strong team, including Airbus, BAE Systems, Ford and Rolls-Royce, have joined forces to ramp up production of a ventilator made by Smiths Group, which supports those with complications from COVID-19. The consortium, which also includes seven Formula One teams including McLaren and Mercedes, home to World Champion Lewis Hamilton, said they had pulled staff off existing projects to meet the national need. Some 1,228 people have died from coronavirus in the United Kingdom and a senior health official said on Saturday the country would be doing well if it manages to keep the death toll below 20,000. "This consortium brings together some of the most innovative companies in the world," Dick Elsy, the head of the consortium, said in a statement. "I am confident this consortium has the skills and tools to make a difference and save lives." The United Kingdom, which initially only had 5,000 ventilators available in its National Health Service, has been trying to secure additional supplies after realising it needed 30,000 to cope with the peak of the outbreak. Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who is now in isolation in Downing Street after testing positive for coronavirus, made an emergency appeal earlier this month for manufacturers to retool their production lines and start making specialist health equipment including ventilators. Britain now has about 8,000 ventilators, with another 8,000 on order from international manufacturers that are due in coming weeks. Last week it placed an order for a newly-designed model from the vacuum cleaner company Dyson that will need to be approved by the health regulator. Mercedes part of a separate effort, too Separately on Monday a second consortium including Mercedes Formula One and other F1 teams said it had developed in less than a week a new version of a breathing aid that can help coronavirus patients.
