For your consideration 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 LTD 2 Door Hard Top 352 CID 90K original miles 4 Barrel Carb Cruise-O-Matic Vinyl Roof Courtesy Light Group Padded Dash and Visors Power Steering Deluxe Seat Belts Radio (AM) Body Moldings Original paint color was white, car was totally stripped and repainted to the current metallic blue by a professional body shop in 1987. Since then the car has been garaged and occasionally driven, never in the rain! My Dad purchased the car from the original owner (retired school teacher's first brand new car) in September of 1983 with around 88K miles. It was for me to use but, the brat that I was, I didn't like the size of it; I wanted a smaller vehicle. The car was so well maintained and a great runner, Mom and Dad decided to keep it. They had total body work done with the color they liked. Since they purchased it in 1983, they have put just a little over 2000 miles on it. The car has always been garaged and very well cared for. The original upholstery shows normal wear and tear. Ford will probably never offer two RS models at the same time
Mon, 18 Mar 2013Autocar has some sour news for fans of go-fast Ford products. According to Roelant de Waard, Ford's president of marketing in Europe, the automaker will probably never offer more than one RS performance model for sale at the same time. That statement runs contrary earlier rumblings that suggested Ford would launch its next-generation Focus RS in 2015 and follow the hatch with a spate of other vehicles with an RS badge. But de Waard has made it clear that Ford of Europe is now focused on squarely on the next Mustang, even though there may be more RS models on the way eventually.
"What is clear is that the RS shouldn't be a series, or a car badge that we have in our portfolio all the time. It is an extreme car - something more than ST," he said.
That philosophy makes plenty of sense. We loved the old Focus RS - shown above in RS500 trim - because it was generally bonkers and plenty exclusive. Diluting either aspect is sure to end in disappointment for everyone involved.
2013 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year finalists announced [w/poll]
Wed, 12 Dec 20122012 is almost in the books and automakers are spending December gearing up for the 2013 auto show season, which tips off next month at the Detroit Auto Show. Traditionally, the latter opens up with the announcement of the North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year awards, and this year figures to be no different.
But up until this moment, we didn't know which six vehicles would be parked ahead of the stage as finalists, with executives and engineers waiting for the winners to be disclosed. Whittled down from October's "short list" of nominees (11 cars and 10 truck/utility vehicles), the finalists are as follows:
2013 North American Car of the Year:
Ford recalls Five Hundred, Mercury Montego sedans over fuel tank woes
Mon, 18 Jul 2011Ford has announced through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that it is recalling nearly 3,000 examples of its Five Hundred and Mercury Montego (pictured) sedans from the 2007 model year.
The action, which affects 2,945 vehicles, is due to potentially defective welds between the filler neck and the fuel tank, a condition that could result in a fuel leak or the smell of gasoline reaching the occupants. In the worst-case scenario, a leak could cause a fire. Cars with the affected fuel tank problem could see an illuminated dashboard warning light as a result of the evaporative emissions leak being detected.
Ford will inspect and replace the fuel tank at no cost to owners (those who have already had the procedure done at-cost can apply for reimbursement), and the Dearborn automaker will begin notifying Five Hundred and Montego owners beginning August 15.
