1964 Galaxie 500 Conv on 2040-cars
Roanoke, Virginia, United States
1964 Ford Galaxie 500 Conv , I have near $15,000 in this car to start with so I'm most likely gonna take a loss selling it.... I built it to cruise to local shows and for photo shoots.... I've owned the car for 2 years and spent the time working on it, I have a clean VA Title in my name.
New & Rebuilt Parts Consisting of: Rebuilt 352, has reworked 390 heads (all correct 1964 galaxie parts), Car has a mild Comp Cam, Edelbrock Aluminum dual plain intake, Edelbrock 600 Carb, Aluminum Coolant Fill Jug, Aluminum Radiator, Everything in the motor was replaced except the actual pistons (they were re-ringed), I had the original exhaust manifolds plained to seal tight (didn't feel need to spend 5-600 on headers) Reused the points Distributor as it works w/ no issues and car starts w/ a few pumps of the gas and a turn of the key... Motor has under 500 miles on it, only real issue is I believe the rear main is leaking, we put a new one in but it must not have seated right Rebuilt Cruise-o-matic Transmission, was rebuilt this year and has under 150 miles on it New(er) Top, was replaced last year so it's new but is a year old, still looks good as it should, has the plastic back window, had no power to the top switch so I disconnected the hydrolic cylinders, it's being used as a manual top, it goes up and down easily New Windshield (including Gasket) New True Dual Exhaust w/ Performance Mufflers, has a real nice street rod sound but not too much to overkill New Disc Brake setup on front, upgraded to power brakes, rear brakes rebuilt (reused drums only as they are good), Stainless Brake lines New Gas Tank, Sending unit, fuel lines (sending unit has a bad connection so fuel gauge isn't currently working) New Power Steering Pump, Cylinder (the shock like part), one of the steering hoses started leaking so I pulled the belt for it, its just power assist so it drives as a manual steer w/o it... not that bad I have been through the cars drivetran from front to back now just needing fine tuning stuff, Needs cosmetics or drive it as is...... Paint on car is Teal Primer so its a flat teal color, original color is Robin egg blue as seen in the image of the trunk. The inside of the car is white Vinyl w/ blue plush inserts, its an older interior so its showing its age, its starting to pull at the seams etc... The car is now at the point that someone can make it their own, your colors your theme Wheels are Cragar SS Rims, Fronts are 15x6 and the rears are 17x8, all in good shape but not new Big questions to answer ahead of time, Rust...... it's a 1964 that is not a garage queen so it has had some spots Trunk is solid and Floors (floors may have had repairs years ago but I cannot tell it they have been w/o removing the carpets) , the only underside rust I found to be significant is in the top well (between the quarter panel and the interior paneling), I have put a heavy rubber mat in the area but it does need repaired, the lips on the inside of the quarters have some but most all body work has been done to the car, it wasn't a rust queen when I got it, just needed help, REASON FOR SELLING: I have a 57 Chevy in my Driveway that I want to build, I cannot build it until I sell something... and cannot sell my truck cause I need it INCLUDED WITH CAR, is another hood, as the one on the car has a slight bend to the driver side front corner, Steering gear box, one in the car has some play in it, I have another one thats tighter, Turn signal switch w/ all the wires that attach. Door Gaskets/ other misc... The passenger side brake light / signal does not work on rear... I ran a jumper wire from the Driver side so that it has brake lights, was told it was the switch. There are some other nick knack parts that go with the car, tail light assemblies and other stuff that'll fit in the trunk for shipping purposes, if needed I can swap the hood prior to shipping, at this point it will only come w/ the replacement hood and not the one pictured on the car, CAR SOLD AS IS NO WARRANTY, ALL IS DESCRIBED AS ABOVE, ANY QUESTIONS FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME VIA EBAY OR 540-312-1591 I WILL NOT SHIP NOR DELIVER THE CAR WITHOUT PRIOR ARRANGEMENTS, I WILL TRY TO HELP AID IN GETTING THE CAR TO A LOCAL SHIPPER IF NEED BE, SHIPPING/TRANSPORT TO BE AT BUYERS COST CAR IS FOR SALE LOCALLY AS WELL SO AUCTION CAN END IF A LOCAL BUYER SHOWS (IF RESERVE HAS NOT BEEN MET) PAYMENT/ARRANGEMENTS MUST BE MADE WITHIN 48HRS OF AUCTION END, ANY AND ALL DEPOSITS ARE NON REFUNDABLE IN EVENT BUYER BACKS OUT, IF SOMETHING HAPPENS ON MY END, I HAVE NO ISSUES W/ REFUNDING DEPOSIT, TITLE/CAR WILL NOT BE RELEASED UNTIL PAYMENT IS CLEAR *Surf Board and Models are NOT Included On Aug-31-14 at 12:22:18 PDT, seller added the following information: Keywords: Impala Belair Street Rod Lowrider Hotrod Ford Mustang Galaxie Fairlane hooptie custom kustom vitage antique performance dayton mclean la wire spoke halibrand holly corvette |

Ford dealers offered discounts on tools to fix aluminum
Mon, 27 Jan 2014With the introduction of the aluminum-bodied 2015 Ford F-150 (and the likely use of aluminum in future Ford products), Ford is looking to help its dealerships reduce costs related to repairing this more labor-intensive material. Automotive News is reporting that Ford dealers with body shops will require an estimated $30,000 to $50,000 in equipment and training to work on aluminum, and to help alleviate the financial burden of the new F-150, Ford has announced a special 20-percent discount on this equipment.
Dealers will be able to save up to $10,000 on tools such as welders, air-filtration systems and rivet guns and to create aluminum-specific work stations. The new F-150 goes on sale in the fourth quarter, and dealers have until October 31 to take advantage of this deal, according to the report.
Car and Driver shows off awesome 1960s ads
Fri, Sep 11 2015Someone must have recently rediscovered the keys to the archives at Car and Driver, and the access has been put to good use. Following last month's fantastic look at automotive ads from the '50s, there's now a new gallery running from March 1960 through December 1969. This collection provides a great overview of a decade full of iconic cars. If you're a fan of Carroll Shelby, particularly his Mustangs, then there's a lot to love among this group. One ad from July 1965 aimed to sell the GT350, but with an ocean of text and a tiny picture, it probably could've used a once-over by Don Draper's team. By December '65, the copywriters ironed out the problems with a spot proclaiming boldly "Shelby GT350 is 'Son of Cobra.'" The company offered some great accessories, too. For those into European motoring, there's a humorous attempt to sell the Alfa Romeo Giulia as both a racecar and family hauler. Toyota also boasts about the winning record for the 2000GT. Among the best text comes from BMW for lines like: "What's BMW got? The most advanced high-performance engine in any production car, for a cruising speed of 100 mph." Of course, Volkswagen's famous "Lemon" ad for the Beetle also gets its due here. Separately, each of these ads is fascinating, but taken together they tell the story of a great decade of motoring. Go give them all a read at Car and Driver.
