1964 Ford Galaxie Xl on 2040-cars
Wentzville, Missouri, United States
This car is a driver, not a show car. This last winter I had a shop light fall onto the car, and put a visible scratch on the passenger side near the rear window. There's paint bubbles on both rear quarters. They're small to me, but I'm not a body man. The radio antenna will need to be replaced, it's broke near the base. There is a small dent in the hood where the carburator nut hit it. There's also some scratches on the rear window where someone used a non plastic scrapper to clean the window. From checking into fixing it, I do believe that they can be removed, but I have not tried it yet. The horn has a loose wire or broken contact that I haven't found yet. Mileage showing is 54,409 which I'm guessing is not correct. I have owned the car for approximately 11 years from the papers I found. The car is not driven in the rain, or in the winter. For the past several years I probably haven't put on more that a couple hundred miles on it. So It's time to sell the car. When I purchased the car I had the radiator redone, along with the top area. I put on a new gas tank, fan shroud, and new rubbers seals under the hood to get a good flow of air running under the hood. New trunk mat. Both the front and rear bumpers were re-chromed. This last winter new brake lines, master cylinder, brake adjusters and cylinders were replaced. I did have some work done on the engine, and transmission by another mechanic. These are the items that I had installed. High flow oil pump. New Oil pan. Edelbrock double roller timing chain and gears. Schneider performance hydraulic cam shaft. Sealed power hydraulic lifters. Edelbrock aluminum cylinder heads. Edelbrock performer intake. Set of Crane push rods. Harlan Sharp rocker arms. Demon Carburator Chrome air cleaner and valve covers. The transmission was replaced with a rebuilt C6 with a shift kit, 1800 stall torque converter. Dual exhaust with Flo-Pro Mufflers. The car drives very good, and cruises great on the highway. Currently the car is riding on B F Goodrich TA Tires. The mags are 15 inch Cragar SS. Along with the car I'll be including the original tires and 6 hub caps that the car had when I got it. Any questions please send them by way of ebay. By the way this is the first item I have sold on ebay so I'm learning my way through the system. I will check often for any messages, so there should be little down time in my response. I want the new owner to enjoy this car and to be happy with the purchase, so no question is to small. I'm selling only in the United States. |

Yearly auto recall record demolished in 6 months
Tue, Jul 1 2014With nearly 40 million vehicles under repair campaigns and counting, 2014 will almost certainly go down as the year of the automotive recall. At just past the halfway mark, we are already at record levels, and there aren't any signs that the epidemic is slowing. General Motors' latest 8.4 million vehicle recall in the US puts the industry over the top for the title of the most cars with fixes pending from automakers ever. That's a prize no one ever wants to receive. According to TheDetroitBureau.com, the US recall total has hit 39.85-million vehicles to surpass the previous record of 33.01 million in 2004. Perhaps more surprising, with over 26 million repairs pending, it's still quite possibly that GM could recall more vehicles by the end of the year than the 27.96-million unit total of the entire US auto industry last year. With over 40 campaigns under its belt in 2014, the roughly one million cars it would take would hardly come as a surprise at this point, especially with increased government scrutiny into the Detroit automaker's processes. The pace of recalls started off relatively normal this year, with just a smattering of campaigns. The most surprising early on was Aston Martin calling in about 75 percent of its output since 2007 due to counterfeit plastic, but with just a few thousand cars, it was relatively tiny in pure numbers. GM really kicked things off soon after, but we didn't know it at the time. It issued its first bulletin for 778,000 Cobalt compacts in early February. Things only ballooned from there as more models were added to its growing ignition switch problem. The onslaught of announcements from every major automaker hasn't abated since then. Some industry executives are trying to put a positive spin on the situation. "With what's transpired (in recent months), there's a higher level of scrutiny," said Joe Hinrichs, Ford president of the Americas, to TheDetroitBureau.com. He believes that automakers are looking at data much more thoroughly than before, and it means better customer safety. Still, many consumers probably wish these problems had been found before their car went on sale.
Ford posts record pre-tax Q3 profit of $2.6B
Thu, 24 Oct 2013Ford took in $2.6 billion in pre-tax profits in the third quarter of the year, making for a record trio of months that saw the Blue Oval's year-over-year earnings increase by $426 million. The earnings are being attributed not just to improvements in North American sales, but sales around the globe.
Revenue was up 12 percent, to $36 billion, although net income took a hit, dropping $359 million to $1.3 billion. Ford was dinged with $498 million in pre-tax charges, which are being blamed for the drop in net income.
The news has boosted Ford's hopes for full-year results, bumping it's total profits up past $8 billion, according to Automotive News. The Dearborn, MI-based manufacturer is still expecting a loss in Europe, although it's forecasted less than the $1.73 billion it burned in 2012. In fact, according to CFO Bob Shanks, Ford's European losses dropped by 51 percent year-over year, a huge improvement for the brand.
Jerry Seinfeld doesn't love Sarah Jessica Parker's new Country Squire in latest CiCGC
Fri, 20 Jun 2014Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee has finally returned for its fourth season of combining Jerry Seinfeld, a miscellaneous celebrity and a cup of java. But rather than fondly remembering some older piece of automotive machinery, this time around, Seinfeld is utterly unable to keep his hatred of Sarah Jessica Parker's 1976 Ford LTD Country Squire from coming out to hilarious effect.
However, Parker has such a high level of infectious enthusiasm for her recently purchased Country Squire that she seems to win over Seinfeld by the end - at least a little bit. For most of their time together, the two of them drive around Manhattan and the suburbs waxing nostalgic about what things were like when these wagons were ubiquitous.
Since this is actually SJP's car, she and Seinfeld trade off driving duties, and the image above should give you some indication of Seinfeld's reaction to the Sex and the City star behind the wheel. It seems this '70s land yacht might be a little too much for her to handle in New York traffic. Regardless, she is absolutely in love with her Ford.
