1963 Ford Galaxie Wagon - '427'
Dual Quad - 4 speed top loader transmission, 9 passenger, XL trim package.
I don't even know where to begin...
I stopped counting after I put 75k into this car...
I purchased the car in southern California about 12 years ago, and it was a 99k mile mint survivor. It was purchased in Bodega Bay where they filmed 'The Birds'
This car was so immaculate and rust free that I felt it was worthy of a full blown restoration.
In 2006, I completed a 1200 hour frame off restoration. Every nut and bolt came off, replaced just about everything in NOS I could get my hands on.
I purchased a 66' side oiler that was a service block and was a wausau built block, with 1st time .020 bore. I bought the short block all assembled with all the high quality rods, pistons, steel crank, screw in freeze plugs etc.
I bought the shorty headers, they are planed, no cracks, new exhaust with borla copy type mufflers. It sounds like a Ferrari going down the road.
It has a factory 63' low riser dual quad intake, and I purchased 2 of those brand new factory replacement carburetors from Carl's Ford about 2 years ago.
Also has the Eldebrock aluminum heads.
The transmission is a 66' top loader large spline 4 speed which had all the guts and gears replaced in it, with exception of the reverse gear as it was fine.
The bumpers were re-chromed, all the rubbers and seals replaced, and the side moldings are all new NOS, replaced in 2006. The rocker moldings are original.
I wanted this car to be a extra special 63' Galaxie Wagon, so I went with the high power '427', kept my focus on the originality of the 1963 era, and installed a full
'XL' package as it would have been done in 1963.
The glass is all original I believe, and there is no whiting on the perimeter of the glass.
I installed a metal 63' dash and refinished it with the correct high gloss rangoon red. The car originally had a rare wagon reverberator which still works.
I purchased a factory correct AM/FM radio which works great in warm weather, but not so in the winter for some reason.
I also installed a 2k Sony stereo system, with two amps mounted under the back seats, stereo mounted under the dash. The sound quality is very nice.
The interior trim was replated or refinished, and the headliner is original and still looks pretty darn good.
I purchased two full sets of the Dearborn interior seat covers in order to make the rear seats look correct and also the 9 passenger rear seat.
There is so much to add to the list of things that were done to the car... I just can't think of everything right now, and will be more than happy to answer any questions either by phone or email.
I have a ton of pictures from Day 1, and also have a video from last year. You may have to copy and paste the link: http://youtu.be/R2P9rXXQ3-g

2015 Ford Mustang Convertible makes inappropriate appearance in Detroit [w/video]
Tue, 14 Jan 2014With the polar vortex fresh in the minds of Autoblog's Detroit-based staff, we're finding it funny that any manufacturer would choose January in the Motor City to show off a new and highly anticipated convertible to the general media and public for the first time. But Ford has done just that, giving us our first real peek at the new Mustang Convertible in the flesh.
The new Mustang Convertible is more or less unchanged from the standard coupe, with some subtle styling tweaks to accommodate the retractable soft top. Engine and transmission choices are identical to the hardtop, although we should expect slightly lower performance due to the hardware for the roof. Like the coupe, neither prices nor performance metrics have been published yet for the convertible.

Ford-sponsored survey says a third of Brits have snapped a 'selfie' while driving [w/videos]
Fri, 08 Aug 2014Talking on the phone while driving isn't advisable, and texting while driving is downright dangerous. Considering those truths, the fact that we even need to point this out this is incredibly disturbing: taking "selfies" while behind the wheel is exceptionally stupid. But, it's a thing that a third of 18- to 24-year-old British drivers have copped to doing, according to a new study from Ford.
Ford, through its Driving Skills for Life program, surveyed 7,000 smartphone owners from across Europe, all aged between 18 and 24, and found that young British drivers were more likely to snap a selfie while behind the wheel than their counterparts in Germany, France, Romania, Italy, Spain and Belgium.
According to the study, the average selfie takes 14 seconds, which, while traveling at 60 miles per hour, is long enough to travel over the length of nearly four football fields (the Ford study uses soccer fields, but we translated it to football, because, you know, America). That's an extremely dangerous distance to not be focused on the road.
