THIS LOOKS LIKE THE CAR I DROVE IN HIGH SCHOOL. "MY BOYFRIEND" WRECKED THE ORIGINAL. I BOUGHT THIS ONE IN 2008 TO CELEBRATE 10 YEARS AS A CANCER SURVIVOR. NOW I FIND MYSELF WIDOWED AND ON SOCIAL SECURITY----SO....
THE COLOR IS CALLED PEACOCK BLUE AND THE PAINT IS IN GREAT SHAPE, AS THE CAR HAS BEEN GARAGED AND COVERED SINCE IT WAS PAINTED. THE BACK SEAT HAS THE ORIGINAL UPHHOLSTERY AND IS IN GOOD SHAPE. THE FRONT BUCKET SEATS WERE REUPHOLSTERED WITH THE ORIGINAL FACTORY TYPE COVERS. SHE HAS A NEW DASHBOARD PAD AND COVER, A NEW TOP AND A NEW BOOT. THE CARPET IS ORIGINAL . THE FRONT FLOOR MATS ARE CUSTOM MADE. THE GAS GAUGE "BOUNCES" AROUND SO I ALWAYS FILL HER UP WHEN I GET IN (IT'S A GIRL THING). THE SPEEDOMETER WOBBLES OVER 60 MPH. THE SUN VISOR BRACKET ON THE SHOTGUN SIDE BROKE THE LAST TIME I DROVE IT. I'LL TRY TO FIND A REPLACEMENT AND FIX IT.
THE HEATER WORKS GOOD BUT SINCE MY GOAL WAS TO RESTORE HER TO AS NEAR ORIGINAL AS POSSIBLE THERE IS NO AC. THE ORIGINAL AM RADIO IS INCLUDED BUT I'VE NEVER TRIED IT. THE ONE IN THE CAR IS AN AFTER MARKET BUT IT DOESN'T PICK UP MANY STATIONS. THE CLOCK WAS REPLACED BUT IT IS CURRENTLY 'RESTING' AND HASN'T BEEN DIAGNOSED YET. ALL OF THE WINDOWS OPERATE EXACTLY AS THEY DID 50 YEARS AGO WITH KNOBS AND GOOD BICEPS. IT PASSED TEXAS INSPECTION IN NOVEMBER 2012 SO ALL OF THE TURN SIGNALS AND LIGHTS WORK.
THE WHITEWALL TIRES ARE IN GOOD SHAPE AND THE WHITEWALL SPARE HAS NEVER BEEN ON THE GROUND. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL HUBCAPS BUT THE ONES ON IT ARE WHAT WE CALLED 'SPOKES'. MOST OF THE CHROME IS ORIGINAL AND LOOKS GREAT. TWO PIECES WERE REPLACED WHEN THE CAR WAS PAINTED. SOME OF THE CHROME HAS VERY MINOR DENTS AND SCRATCHES.
NOW FOR THE MAN STUFF: IT HAS A 390 CID WITH APPROX. 95,000 ORIGINAL MILES AND A FORD 4 BARREL CARBURETOR AND AN ELECTRONIC POINTLESS IGNITION. THE SPARK PLUG WIRES, SPARK PLUGS, DISTRIBUTOR CAP AND VALVE COVER GASKETS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. SHE HAS POWER STEERING BUT NOT POWER BRAKES. SHE HAS DUAL EXHAUST WITH GLAS-PAC TYPE MUFFLERS. IT ALSO HAS A SERVICE MANUAL AND A WIRING SCHEMATIC INCLUDED. IT HAS THE OLD TYPE BUMPER JACK.
THE CAR DRIVES GOOD---USING THE STANDARDS OF 50 YEARS AGO. SHE HAS SURVIVED IN MUCH BETTER SHAPE THAN MOST FOLKS OLD ENOUGH TO REMEMBER HER. IT BREAKS MY HEART TO LET HER GO SO PLEASE: TO A GOOD HOME. I'M SURE THERE ARE THINGS I FORGOT SO PLEASE EMAIL QUESTIONS. WE INVESTED 35K INTO HER BUT ALL REASONABLE OFFERS WILL BE CONSIDERED. ...
NOW THIS IS THE PART I'M 'SUPPOSED' TO PUT: ALL BIDDERS WITH LESS THAN 10 FEEDBACKS NEED TO ASK BEFORE BIDDING OR THE BID MIGHT BE CANCELLED. THE SUCCESSFUL HIGH BIDDER WILL SUBMIT $1000 - NON REFUNDABLE - PAYMENT DEPOSIT WITH PAYPAL WITHIN 24 HOURS OF THE CLOSE OF THE AUCTION TO SECURE THE VEHICLE. FINAL PAYMENT WILL BE U.S.BANK CHECK, BANK WIRE TRANSFER OR CASH DUE WITHIN 7 DAYS OF CLOSE OF AUCTION. ITS THE BUYERS OBLIGATION TO ARRANGE FOR SHIPPING. ALL FINANCIAL TRANSACTIONS MUST BE COMPLETE BEFORE DELIVERY OF VEHICLE. FINAL PAYMENT THROUGH PAYPAL IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost already hitting 12-second quarters
Sun, 28 Sep 2014The arrival of a new Ford Mustang means many things to many people, but not least of them is drag racers. The pony car has always been a mainstay of the drag strip, and the Ford Racing team aims to carry that reputation forward with this latest generation. So it cooked up a few basic modifications on three new 'Stangs and headed to the strips at US 131 and Milan Dragway to see what they could coax out of 'em.
Impressively, the 5.0-liter V8 Mustang GT with a few modifications (but no forced induction) managed to clock a quarter-mile time of 11.77 seconds. Another Mustang GT fitted with a supercharger clocked a blistering 10.97 seconds. But just as intriguing was the modified EcoBoost model that, with only four cylinders and 2.3 liters of displacement, still passed the gates in just 12.56 seconds - nearly half a second better than expected. This with modification limited to a new subframe, half-shaft, drive shaft loops, exhaust, engine calibration, slicks, roll cage and bucket seat. Well done, boys.
Ford Ranger-based 7-seat SUV spotted testing
Wed, 29 May 2013Ford looks to be working on a new SUV version of its global Ranger pickup truck. An early prototype of a seven-passenger SUV based on the Ranger has been spotted testing in Australia, and word has it buyers in the region could expect to see the model in showrooms as soon as 2014, where it could sail under the Endeavour or Everest badges. Ford Australia currently sells the Territory SUV, so there's some chance that this model could be a successor to that throne, as well.
Whatever it's called, the long-roof Ranger will feature a shorter wheelbase and more ground clearance than its pickup twin, giving the machine a bit more off-road functionality. (And here we thought we couldn't want the global Ranger any more than we already do.) While this particular vehicle sports a Territory back half grafted onto a Ranger front end, odds are a public reveal of the finished product could occur as soon as the second half of 2014, making it a 2015 model. Head over to Carsguide.com.au for a closer look.
Ford patents a multi-touch version of its classic keypad
Fri, Sep 9 2016For decades, Ford has offered a keypad on the doors of their cars that would allow owners access with the right code. Amazingly, the keypad has survived almost unchanged except for a recent touch button version. A new patent from the Blue Oval shows the keypad may get a big upgrade soon. The first big change is that it looks like the keypad may move to the key fob. Although it might be possible to have it on the car itself as well, the patent only seems to focus on the key fob. In addition, the fob will now be a multi-touch pad similar to that of modern smartphones. This will allow for more diverse code entries, according to the patent's description. Instead of just a simple number code, owners could enter a code that involves swipes and keystrokes, and even simultaneous keystrokes. For instance, you could enter a code that requires swiping from 1 to 3, followed by holding 2 and 4 to unlock the car. The patent also seems to indicate that this keypad would then display unlock functions and other functions on the fob after the correct code is entered, thus making it more than just a way to unlock the car. As for the practical implications of this keypad system update, it could provide an added layer of security. If someone steals your keys, they would have to also know your access code to get into the car. Whether this would also help make the key and car harder to hack would remain to be seen, though. Another possible benefit could be the prevention of accidental lock and alarm button presses, although that likely isn't a common issue. There could be potential downsides as well. If used as an extra layer of security, the legitimate owner would have to punch in their code on the fob to get in, which would render proximity key benefits relatively useless. Moving the keypad to the fob would also mean owners couldn't get into their cars without having the key with them. We don't have any clues as to when this could become a feature, but it doesn't seem like it would be difficult to implement, so it could show up in the next few years.
