Up for sale is my beautiful 1963 1/2 Galaxie 500. I have owned this car the last 14 years and done much of the mechanical work myself. This car started its life being built in Dallas, Tx. as a white fastback, 289 small block, automatic with A/C. The fastback was not available until halfway thru the 1963 model year and was for a sleeker NASCAR body style. You can tell it has spent it's life in a dry climate, probably west Texas, because there is NOT a bit of rust on the body or frame, anywhere, anytime. The normal problem areas, behind the rear seat or the trunk are perfect. When I purchased the car it looked more like a 50's cruiser. It had skirts, Thunderbird wheels and was low in the rear. It had already been painted Turquoise when I purchased it and you would be hard pressed to find any of the old white paint. Under the hood, trunk and the door jams are all painted to match the exterior. Also, it had a 390 V8 and T10 four speed transmission installed. Most of the work I have done over the years brings the car closer to a "correct" condition for a 1963 big block, 4 speed car. Here is an idea of some of the work completed. I do have paperwork and receipts to back up what I'm saying. Engine; I built this 390 Ford FE engine using a 1963 C3SE-A block that was bored .030" and decked. I used TRW forged pistons with moly rings. The crank was turned .010/.010" and I used Clevite 77 bearings. The rods are later C7AE-B models that were rebuilt by an FE specialist. It has a mild Comp #226 cam, lifters, new pushrods and has a Roll Master double roller timing chain set with indexable crank gear. The oil pump is new with a Cobra Jet oil filter adapter for better flow. Oil pressure at cruise is 50# and 20# at idle. The heads are casting # C3AE-6090-C, which are high performance items used on the 406 FE motors. They were milled on all 3 sides and completely rebuilt using all new valves, springs, keepers, guides and rocker arms and shafts. The top end is finished off with an aluminum Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold using a Holley 670 cfm vacuum secondary carburetor. The ignition is an electronic Pertronix unit, so no points to fuss with and it starts easy. I changed the generator to a 55 amp. alternator. The engine has FPA ceramic coated headers and they truly are the best Ford headers and fit great. From the headers back is a custom built, $800, 2 1/2" exhaust system with Flow Master 50 mufflers. The combination of the mild cam and dual exhaust system produce a subtle muscle car rumble at idle, but not a bit of drone at cruise speeds.Over the years I have tuned the motor to where it runs great around town or the highway. The motor has never been dyno'ed, but I can tell you it will make this 4500# car get up and run. I mean REALLY run! Cooling; Bored out 390's are known to run hot, so here is what keeps this one running cool ALL the time. It has the original radiator and separate top mounted coolant tank. I used a Flow Kooler water pump with a smaller pulley to turn it faster. There also is an original Ford, steel fan shroud that would come on a cars with air conditioning(very hard to find) and a new clutch fan. All this together lets the motor run at 180 deg. all day long while moving and it doesn't go above 220, even after extended idle time. Suspension; The car still has the original 4wheel drum brakes and single master cylinder. I have overhauled all these items and everything works just fine, but I was planning to upgrade to a dual master cylinder. The front ball joints and lower control arm bushings have been replaced. An OEM Ford handling kit to limit lower control arm front pivot movement has been installed. The rear leaf springs are new 5 leaf design with all new rubber bushings. All 4 shocks have been replaced with high pressure gas units. The car rides on 15" American Racing "Classic" wheels with 225/60/15 B F Goodrich "T/A" radials. The tires are starting to show their age, but still have lots of life left. Don't know why, but just recently the car started pulling to the right a bit. Driveline; From the engine back is a billet steel flywheel with a Zoom clutch set up. The bell housing is correct '63 with the bottom cover. The transmission is a late 1963, newly available, Ford Toploader 4 speed built in wide ratio. The wide ratio is so much nicer to drive than a close ratio. There is a NOS Hurst Competition Plus shifter installed. The drive shaft was overhauled and a new front yoke installed. All this connects to the famous Ford 9" rear that is from a big block car. The big block rear ends have larger bearings at the inner and outer ends. The center section was built using a new Strange nodular iron case, new 3.50 gears mounted on an Auburn limited slip differential. Interior; The white seats, door panels and package shelf were done in white when I purchased the car. I added the seat belts using the correct mounting points. The carpet was replaced with black for a better look. The headliner was new when I purchased the car and it looks fantastic. The dash gauges and lights work, but I wanted to know a bit more about the condition of the engine. I added a Sun tachometer, a water temp. and oil pressure gauges. Exterior; The front and rear bumpers have been re-chromed. The grill, front trim and head light doors have been re-anodized. Some of the other trim is NOS and some restored. The body is straight as you can see in the photos. As I have said, this is not the original color for this Galaxie. The original color, according to the door plate, is Corinthian White. I don't think you could pick a more boring color. Somewhere along the line it was painted this shade of Turquoise, similar to the 1964 "Robin's Egg Blue". Most people seem to go for the black on black or red. Also popular is red on red or black. Blue on blues is also another favorite. Well, if you are going to have a big block, 4 speed tribute car, might as well have it be a looker. And based on all the comments, waves and thumbs up I get, I think it is. I always get lots of positive comments at car shows, especially from the women! Overall; I think the paint and body are an 8.5 to 9. The interior is an 8 to 8.5. This is a car that looks great going down the road as well as at a car show. It starts right up, runs great, doesn't overheat and has no bad habits. I would drive this car all day long and not have a worry or care about dependability.

Ford EcoBoost V6 hits the dyno before hitting the track
Wed, 02 Oct 2013Ford Racing just unveiled the Riley Daytona Prototype that will make its racing in the United SportsCar Racing Championship Rolex 24 at Daytona in January, and now it has released a video showing development of twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 that powers the car. Using the same block and heads that can be found on a production Ford Taurus SHO, this new racecar benefits from the collaboration between Ford Racing and Ford powertrain engineers.
While we still don't know what kind of power this engine is putting out, it has definitely gotten a workout at Ford's 17G dyno. This area deep within Ford allows the automaker's racing program to work hand-in-hand with production engine programs, which can be a benefit to racing operations and production cars alike. Scroll down to hear a few people from Ford talk about the crosspollination between its racing and engine teams and watch the EcoBoost get red hot on the dyno.
Ford leads top searched-for car brands on Google in 2014
Mon, Dec 22 2014With less than two weeks until 2014 takes its final bow, anyone and everyone is looking back on the past 50 or so weeks to see how they stacked up. For search giant Google, that means its time to check out its annual Trends report. Besides the most popular search term (the late, great Robin Williams), the most searched for gadget (the iPhone 6) and most searched for disease symptoms (quite worryingly, Ebola took the crown here), we have the most searched for automaker. With the long-awaited sixth-generation of one of America's most iconic vehicles, the Mustang, and a ground-breaking update for the US market's perennial best seller, the F-Series, it should come as no surprise at all that Ford was Google's most searched for automaker in 2014. Jeep captured second place, while Dodge, took third. We suspect introducing a pair of cars with 707 horsepower had something to do with that bronze medal... Scroll down to see the rest of this year's most searched for automakers, and then head into Comments and let us know if you're surprised by any of these. This content is hosted by a third party. 2015 Ford Mustang already under recall, but just 53 units
Sun, 19 Oct 2014Ford has issued a small - but significant - recall for one of its spotlight cars: the 2015 Mustang.
The recall affects just 53 cars, with 50 in the United States and three in Canada. Ford said the passenger side safety belt buckle tension sensor may not have been calibrated properly by the supplier. This could lead to "misclassification" of the passenger seat occupant, and could cause the airbag to deploy improperly.
A Ford spokesperson didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. In a statement, the automaker said it is not aware of any accidents or injuries, and dealers will replace the buckle assembly at no cost to customers. The cars affected were built at Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Michigan from Aug. 18 to Oct. 2.
