VEHICLE DESCRIPTION:

VEHICLE HISTORY:   This 52 year old survivor was purchased new in 1962 by the current owner’s father.  Since he lived in Florida he ordered it with the heater deleted and saved $75.10.  He did splurge on power steering, tinted windshield, and an AM radio for a total sticker price of $3,652!    When he passed away in 1978 his son inherited his Dad’s sporty cruiser.  It has resided in Ohio for the past 36 years and only driven 6,000 miles in that time.  He doesn’t have the time to drive it anymore.  So it is time for a new owner to enjoy “as is” or do a restoration on this very solid 1962 survivor.

MARQUE HISTORY:  In 1962 Ford applied the Galaxie model name to all full size cars and completely restyled the model line.  The cars looked cleaner and the fins were gone.  The Galaxie 500XL series was new for 1962, and was the top of the line, sporty series of the Galaxie line.  There were only two models of the 500XL, the Club Victoria (hardtop) and the Sunliner (convertible).

SPECIFICATIONS:  Interceptor V8 Engine, 352CI, 220HP, OHV, Cast Iron Block, 4.00” Bore X 3.50” Stroke, 5-Main Bearings, 2-BBL Holley Carburetor, 8.9:1 Compression, 3-Speed Cruise-O-Matic Transmission, 119” Wheelbase, 209” O/A Length, 3782 Pound Curb Weight, 20 Gallon Fuel Tank, Power Steering, 11” Drum Brakes.

VEHICLE CONDITION:

We do a mechanical and cosmetic inspection to each vehicle before listing it for sale.  This report is included below will provide a reasonable description of the vehicle condition.  Older vehicles are subject to normal wear and tear and we have tried to indicate the overall condition of the vehicle to the best of our ability.  But, we can not always find everything that is not perfect with a vehicle, so independent inspections are welcome and encouraged.  We drive each vehicle approximately 20 miles, but this is no indication of its long term road-worthiness.  The only guarantee with an older vehicle is that someplace, sometime, something will need repaired!

First 1K next-gen Mustangs to carry 2014 1/2 model year?

Thu, 18 Jul 2013

A new report from Mustangs Daily, citing insider sources at Ford, tells us that the Blue Oval will produce 1,000 next-generation Mustangs with the model year designation of 2014 ½, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the storied marque. The commemorative half-year designation is a rumor that's been swirling in Mustang forums for quite some time now, and seems more plausible than ever with this most recent report. Certainly it's not far-fetched to believe that Ford will want to make a big deal of the golden anniversary for its most-loved model.
The story (compiled by Drew Phillips, who runs the aforementioned Mustang site when he's not directing the photography on these pages) goes on to say that the limited-run cars will be the first built on the new Mustang platform internally known as S550 (and spied testing in the attached gallery). Each car is said to carry a "special" VIN and build number, though no performance upgrades versus the 2015 cars to follow are in the works. A collector's dream then, rather than a weekend racer's.

Ken Block rally cars go blue in the face (and everywhere else)

Wed, 23 Jan 2013

Well at least we now know why Ken Block "just ain't care" about smashing up his Ford Fiesta rally car recently. It's because he's getting a full brand makeover including a new team name, new paint scheme and even a new headquarters. Formerly known as Monster World Rally Team, Block and his Fiesta will now be competing under the Hoonigan Racing Division name, which is based out of a new 12,000 square foot facility located in Park City, UT.
As you can tell in the image above, Hoonigan Racing will replace the familiar black, white and green paint scheme with a more colorful design featuring plenty of blue, purple and red; the Monster Energy logo retains some of the car's green. The new paint scheme was inspired by Block's love of skateboard graphics from the '80s and early '90s as well as "Miami Vice-era" speedboats.
Block will continue to compete in multiple rally racing series such as Global RallyCross, World Rally Championship and X Games. The new headquarters features office space on one side and a shop for the cars on the other side. The building features plenty of stuff you'd expect from a company designed around Ken Block, including a massive gaming station for racing video games, recycled shipping containers used throughout the facility and a black bear.

Ford tops mid-year ranking of brands in the US

Thu, 18 Jul 2013

YouGov's mid-year Brand Index rankings of America's best perceived brands has been released, and Ford has found its way to the top. The Dearborn, Michigan based manufacturer beat out online shopping giant Amazon, The History Channel, and home improvement superstore Lowe's, to take the top spot.
Ford jumped from sixth overall in 2012 to first for 2013, but those that have been watching these rankings shouldn't be hugely surprised. Ford was rated the best perceived automotive manufacturer by the same organization last year. The Blue Oval's success on the overall brand rankings is made all the more impressive by the complete lack of other automakers on the list.
YouGov (that is, survey respondents) cited Ford's first quarter of 2013 business, which saw an increase in market share and the best earnings recorded in over 10 years. Successfully launching the Focus and Fusion (pictured) and keeping them fresh in the minds of consumers has also contributed to Ford's best overall score.
