You're looking at a 1962 Ford Sunliner convertible in very original condition. The vehicle has been store since 1971 and was last licensed for the road in 1969. Paint appears to be all original. Interior is all original, including the, radio, seats and carpet  The power convertible top appears to be original. There is VERY little rust and only in one small area of the left rear quarter. The floors and trunk are in incredible solid condition.  The trunk still has the original white paint on the bottom. PLEASE SEE THE PICTURES. The vehicle is it's original Wimbledon white exterior and red interior. The vehicle has a set of newer aluminum wheels on it, but comes with steel wheels, tires and original hubcaps. I believe the mileage of 88,862 to be correct, however I have no way to guarantee it.

Now, the bad. The original paint is over 50 years old, so there minor scratches and chips. There small dings and dents, the biggest being on the rear by the tail light. See the pictures. The original interior needs to the driver's seat recovered and the original carpet is so old it's falling apart. The convertible top needs to be recovered. The exhaust appears to be original and needs to be replaced. The engine was pulled some years ago and freshened, but the install was never completed. I haven't verified the engine is the original 292V8 or not. It comes with new parts, like a carburetor and starter. When I bought it and picked it up from an old garage in Nebraska, the radiator wasn't there, otherwise the vehicle is complete.

This may the most solid and original car from the early 60's I've ever seen, however it's been stored since 1971 so it's need a battery, the brakes checked and some general maintenance for you to go cruising right away. I bought the vehicle to restore and use as a weekend driver. I have 5 other cars to finish and probably will never live long enough to finish them all, so I'm selling one or two vehicles for someone else to enjoy them.

The vehicle is available for inspection anytime prior to the end to the auction and is being sold AS-IS. Please feel free to call and or email me with any questions. Thank you, Chris 816.590.7660

First Ford Mustang prototype shots caught by legendary spy shooter Jim Dunne

Fri, 12 Apr 2013

You know how people refer to someone as having "been around the block" to mean they're very experienced? Well, when it comes to automotive spy photography, Jim Dunne actually laid down the concrete slabs of the block's sidewalk. The unforgettable Dunne more or less invented the car spy game - a fact he cemented by writing book called Car Spy - and has been delivering spy shots and reporting on the industry for some 45 years now. (He also once employed this writer as his impromptu personal chauffer on a Volkswagen trip in Germany, while he slept, but that's a story for a different time.)
In any event, Dunne must be on a mission to prove that "elder statesman" doesn't also mean "washed up" as it is his shots of the upcoming new 2014 Ford Mustang that we've been handed by our friends at KGP Photography.
Mr. Dunne has likely spent the last few years obtaining powerful telescopic lenses, as the Ford in question has clearly been photographed from some distance. Nevertheless, what you see here is visual evidence that the sixth-generation Mustang has moved beyond the mule stage, and is now testing in proper prototype form. Sources indicate that there are production-spec body panels under that baggy canvass dress; but the slightly less bulky silhouette of the new car can be just made out. While the car's bumpers have been removed to obfuscate things, we can tell by way of the camo's apertures that the car's taillights have moved upwards and towards the lip of the tail. A fender vent appears to be visible, too, just behind the front wheel.

Volvo to shake off Ford ties with new platforms, engines

Sat, 23 Feb 2013

It would seem Volvo is finally getting around to throwing all of Ford's things out of the apartment. Automotive News reports the Swedish automaker is preparing to unleash a range of new engines as well as a fresh platform designed entirely in house. The powerplants include an all-new four-cylinder engine set to bow before the end of this year before arriving in the US by 2014. Shortly thereafter, the world should get its first glimpse at the next-generation XC60, which will the company's first model to make use of the Volvo scalable platform architecture (SPA). US buyers can expect to see that machine on their roads by early 2015.
The next V70 and S80 will also use the SPA, though those models will carry V90 and S90 designations when they hit dealer floors. But that doesn't mean Volvo has completely weened itself off of Ford technology. The V40 will continue to ride on Ford bones until the model's next chassis can be co-developed between Volvo and Geely.

Toyota, Ford and Honda again top Consumer Reports Car-Brand Perception Survey

Fri, 01 Feb 2013

Consumer Reports has released its annual Car-Brand Perception Survey, and the list looks awfully familiar. The top six brands are identical to last year's results, with Toyota, Ford and Honda continuing to occupy the podium. All told, Toyota walked away with 133 points, putting it 15 ahead of second-place Ford. Honda jumped 26 points this year, narrowing Ford's lead to just four points in total.
Consumer Reports polls buyers from across the country on how they see multiple brands in seven categories, including quality, safety, value, performance, design/style, technology/innovation and environmentally friendly/green. Researchers then combine the findings to come up with the total brand score.
While value and performance remain important to buyers, CR found quality and safety are still on top when it comes to significance. Scion and Mitsubishi found themselves at the bottom of the pack with the worst score of all, tied at just six points. Ram, Fiat and Mini filled out the lowest five with scores of seven, eight and 10 points, respectively. You can read the full press release below for more information, or head over to the Consumer Reports site.
