1961 Ford Galaxie Country Sedan Custom California Classic Hot Rod Station Wagon on 2040-cars
Round Mountain, California, United States
1961 Ford Galaxie Country Sedan station wagon. This is a restored car with a completely professionally rebuilt 302 V8 and new AOD Automatic Overdrive Transmission with about 10,000 miles on the car since restoration. The 302 has a 2 bbl carb, runs strong and sounds great with the headers and side pipes. The AOD transmission is a really nice modern touch for this classic and we kept the shifter on the column. Radiator is new and this car will run all day in the summer without overheating. There's a nice temp gage installed under the dash. I get more thumbs up on the highway from this than any other car I've had. You just don't find these in this shape anymore without rust.
The paint is about 3 years old. There's no rust on this car anywhere. I included photos of the spare tire chamber and the area forward of the spare under the bed where you can see the original red paint and no rust damage. Vintage Cragar Keystone mag wheels. The rear wheel skirts were painted to match and are included with the car. I like the look without them but they can be put on easily. The molding, emblems and trim pieces are in really nice shape. All the doors and windows open and close as they should. The front bumper was re-chromed but all the other trim has its original patina. Grille is straight without any damage. Engine compartment was also restored and has a clean look. There's lots to show off on this car. Dash is original, not cut and painted to match the top as are the rest of the interior trim pieces. Rare electric window in the tailgate works great using the toggle switch on the dash. Floors were painted black and there is no rust. Seat covers are original. You can finish the interior to your taste or leave it as is. I have the headliner bows and they go with the car. All of the glass is original Ford Motor Co. script glass. Title is clear, in my name and there are no hidden DMV fees. Everything is current. Neat old classic wagon that was done right with style and can be driven home anywhere. Ford C-Max, Fusion hybrids subject of MPG lawsuit in California
Fri, 01 Mar 2013A California lawsuit over the fuel economy claims for the 2013 Ford C-Max was first reported back in December. Based on the numerous reports we've heard of disgruntled owners failing to get their car's EPA fuel economy ratings on the C-Max and 2013 Fusion Hybrid, we suspected there would be more to this story. The Detroit News is reporting that two California law firms are combining their lawsuits against Ford on this matter for "false and misleading" claims.
The article states that there are hundreds of C-Max and Fusion Hybrid owners who have joined the lawsuit, but the issue isn't limited to customers. In December, Consumer Reports extensively tested both the Fusion Hybrid and C-Max and found that both hybrids performed significantly worse than their EPA claims. This all comes just a few months after Hyundai and Kia took the unprecedented step of lowering the fuel economy ratings for all of their 2012 and 2013 model-year vehicles.
Consumer Reports says Toyota, Ford, Honda and Chevy are big winners in brand perception survey
Wed, 05 Feb 2014According to Consumer Reports, the automotive brands that stand out in the minds of car buyers are, in order: Toyota, Ford, Honda and Chevrolet. This news comes after the magazine polled its readers, asking them to take into account vehicle quality, safety, performance, value, fuel economy, design/style, and technology/innovation - which are the factors that car shoppers are most influenced by.
It's important to note that this award is only about perception. In other words, it's perceived quality, not actual quality. "Often, perception can be a trailing indicator, reflecting years of good or bad performance in a category, and it can also be influenced by headlines in the media," said Jeff Bartlett, Consumer Reports deputy automotive editor.
The brand that made the biggest jump in perception amongst Consumer Reports readers is Tesla, which posted an impressive 47-point gain to finish in fifth place. Subaru is also notable for finishing in the top 10, despite being one of the smaller manufacturers doing business in the US. Subprime financing on the rise in new car sales, leasing too
Fri, 07 Dec 2012We all remember the financial crisis that began several years back. At its core was a splurge of subprime lending for housing loans. The housing bubble burst, triggering a collapse of the mortgage-backed securities market. Apparently, those types of loans still exist in the automotive industry, and the market share for these types of "nonprime, subprime, and deep subprime," loans has grown 13.6 percent compared to the third quarter a year ago.
According to an Automotive News report, high-risk lending expanded to 24.8 percent of total loans in Q3, up from 21.9 percent for this time last year. As this level increased, average credit scores of borrowers dropped to 755, down from 763 a year ago. In that time, the average financing amount increased $90 per vehicle, to $25,963.
At 818, Volvo maintains the highest per-owner credit score, while Mitsubishi has the lowest, at 694. The highest rate of borrowers was at Toyota, with 14 percent of the market, followed by Ford with 13.1 percent and Chevrolet at 11.1.
